She’s the Turkish vixen who swayed her hips to 4th place in 2009 with the infectious, belly-shaking song “Dum Tek Tek” — a number that has endured her to millions in both Turkey and Belgium, where she was born and raised.

Unfortunately it now appears that Hadise has fallen foul of Turkey’s censors, as several TV stations have banned her latest music video to the song “Sifir Tolerans” for being “too erotic”. The song’s translation “Zero Tolerance” seems apt.

Hadise — a modern woman with a booming singing career and numerous high-profile gigs as a television host — isn’t remaining silent. On Thursday the songstress expressed her anger and disappointment on her Twitter page, defending her video and pointing out the ridiculous double standard between male and female stars.

“I received an ‘erotic’ mark on my video, and I won’t have it!” she wrote. “To think: the love of a woman without boundaries is too erotic, and yet male artists can show a woman as some kind of mannequin and not receive an ‘adult’ stamp!”

She’s furious with the morality police and has zero tolerance for this kind of nonsense. At the same time she admits that it’s hard to fight discrimination that’s endured for centuries.

“As a woman, should I submit? NO! Unfortunately, in our country, the separation between men and women is still going strong in the year 2018”.

The video opens with Hadise and her muscle-bound co-star caressing each other in bed. As the video progresses Hadise rubs his rock-hard abs, bathes in sexy lingerie and caresses him yet again (and we can’t blame her for it). But there’s much more to it than that: He seems to struggle with her success, adding another interesting dimension to the video.

Hadise, we are with you girl! In our humble opinion, this video shows nothing but a strong woman, who refuses to be held down or apologize for all she has achieved. And frankly we’ve seen videos way more saucy than this.

But what do YOU think? Is the “Sifir Tolerans” video too much? Or are you cool with the skin-tillating segments? Let us know in the comments box below.

Everything ended here and now Pick up your stuff, you gotta go your way I did not leave you to time, because you are posing danger. Your red-handed caught penitences. Your heavy strikes towards to the heart. Well,OK, but, HEY DARLING WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DANCING WITH? Our relationship is just about loneliness. Wow, what kind of paradox is this? But I never refrained from you, i was always foolhardy(overbold) I was just a sweet coincidence for you at the beginning, Then now i became your bitter experience, Yes i was mistaken, you were nothing but just a… Read more »

Supposing Turkey should compete in Eurovision Asia if they’re so unhappy with Eurovision proper? After all, they’re eligible to compete (although I’ll bet they’re gonna use the same voting system, in which case never mind).

Did anyone else get Britney’s Everytime vibes from this music video? Anyway, Hadise is a great singer and certainly her pre-eurovision work was more erotic in nature and lyrically (My Body for instance). Let’s hope Erdogan does not read into her words too much and have her arrested like he did thousands of turkish journalists and citizens.

Of course I also do not appreciate this kind of behaviour. And I don’t even think that the video is erotic or anything. Well, each nation has its own values and opinions regarding such topics. We can’t expect everyone to think same way, right? 🙂

I think Turkey isn’t in danger of becoming a militantly Islamic state, but is certainly becoming more conservative under Erdo?an, who governs for the smaller rural areas rather than the big cities. To be honest, I find his anti democratic measures far more repugnant. As some of you have said, he’s a populist in the vein of La Pen (although not as extreme as her).

Religion is great on an individual scale, but shouldn’t be imposed on others unwillingly.

I don’t think Le Pen would imprison journalists? She just has anti-migration politics, which is not terrible if you ask me.

Well, if you’re Muslim, or if you’re Jewish, or another ethnic minority, Le Pen is quite terrible. Migration and diversity are good things.

In regards to stifling democracy, Erdogan is far worse- but in terms of social policy, he’s not as bad. In my opinion. He certainly won’t try and impose an Iranian style theocracy.

I am also turkish and all these news make me sad. Everyday we hear another little step eroding secularism. If you google Aysegul Aldinc s clip from 1995 “Anlad?m Ben seni”, you will see the backward distance we travelled. And concerning the question why people vote for him, It is the same reason why people voted for Brexit, Donald Trump, Marie Le Pen

Soo, after having written a really long comment, with my own perspectives on this topic, I´m going to write it again, since the comment got deleted, after the website could not somehow reload. First of all, I would like to say that I´m actually quite surprised that this video clip received such kind of attention and response, since Hadise is clearty not the first female singer, showing naked skin and shooting a permissive video. Just look at the video clip of Ece Seckin-“Sayin Seyirciler”, and you won´t see a huge difference as well. Maybe the point with Hadise is the… Read more »

As a Cypriot from the North, I hope that we get to celebrate everybody and everyone of religion, gender, ethnicity, opinions, and etc. I hope soon Turkey really need to comeback, and everyone’s feelings, and considerations need to be viewed and that’s not happening. I love Hadise so much, and all her music ive listened to for so long, Hadise is so loved Across the borders like in Azerbaijan, and so own, and she clearly is so respected in turkey, her video is not erotic at all in my views, and we need equality towards everyone, and hopefully Turkey can… Read more »

How do you feel about the censorship of Hadise’s music video?
It feels a bit unfair that the rest of us from outside Turkey comment about a culture that we don’t understand. I thought a better approach would be to ask people from Turkey how they felt. So, I asked. 🙂

We don’t accept the reason that RTUK have stated. There are more ‘erotic’ scenes on TV tho. All citizens of my country are equal THAT’S IT. We can watch the video from every Internet platform or TV after midnight. RTUK (Radio and Television Committee Of the Republic of Turkey) has decided to give punishment (by paying lots of money)to those channels who brodcasted the video on before midnight. People also are confused because Hadise actually supports the current government.

Of course she may support it, too. It is her choice, gotta respect. This won’t be a fact for us to support her or not. We are with Her. Some artists tweeted about it and shared the same opinions with Hadise

If that’s too erotic, I don’t want to know what they’d think if they turned up a Czech music channel. I once did and it felt like browsing a site for adults.

Hadise is an admirable woman, and yes the video is relatively tame. The double standard is appalling. Like others have mentioned, men can ogle & objectify women as much as they want – but when the positions are reversed it becomes too much. The whole misogyny issue in pop music is kinda complex – for instance, are Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and co. right to skimp around practically naked? On one hand, it can be viewed as female empowerment and owning of their bodies, but on the other it can be seem as objectifying. I personally have no problem with them,… Read more »

I wonder what Turkish censors think of the original Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “Relax” video from the 1980s… 😛
More seriously though, there are two ways for the artist and producers to look at this:
1. Think: “Ooo a banned video is great publicity, now everyone will want to buy my music, yey!”
2. Think: “The ban hurts, so we will re-make the video without the semi-nudity and caressing.”
It will be very interesting to see which approach they go with.

Shows how far Turkey has fallen. The world would be much better off without morality police claiming to enforce nonsensical myths written centuries ago. This goes for Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and all religions.

Hi! As a Turk I gotta say that we don’t have morality police in our country. As stated at constitution, State of Turkey is a democratic Republic which has no religion and no one can not ask to change 4 main articles of our constitution. There is long way to bring gender equality to this region but we know that everyday people are getting more educated, they generally (finally) stoped to talk about what woman should wear. Unfortunately, government cannot do the things that expected.

Tough times in Turkey. I’d like to live in a world that is modern and open to the idea that people are “different yet the same”. Sadly, many countries (including Turkey) took a step back during the last few years.
