French broadcaster continues to reveal the 18 competing acts in the new national final Destination Eurovision. The latest act to be revealed is Sarah Caillibot. She found fame on The Voice, where her coach was Destination Eurovision host Garou.

Sarah was part of season two of The Voice: la plus belle voix in 2013. She auditioned with Isabelle Adjani’s song “Pull marine”. Her performance was impressive enough to inspire all four coaches to turn. Sarah ended up selecting the French-Canadian singer (and Destination Eurovision host) Garou as her coach.

While Sarah was eliminated in the first live show, she has gone on to establish her own career as a solo artist. In 2015 she released a cover of “Avant qu’elle parte”, originally by Maître Gims’ rap group Sexion d’Assaut.

In her introduction video, Sarah is shown walking with her dog by the sea. She talks about how she finds inspiration in the fragile coast.

Sarah will perform “Tu me manques” (I miss you) at Destination Eurovision. From the short excerpt, the song is revealed to be a piano-driven ballad. As the chorus swells with a bold orchestral song, Sarah sings the emotional French lyrics.

Sarah’s involvement in the contest will come as no surprise to some fans. Fans had identified “Tu me manques” from an early Destination Eurovision promo video and matched it to a preview clip of the song on Amazon.

This is a love ballad. It’s a genre that hasn’t a consistent success in Eurovision. There are times when such songs do very well and times when they don’t do really well.
In this case, love ballads are a strong point for France. They sound great in French and France has many beautiful ballads.
Although I’m not really enthusiastic about “Tu me manques”, I’ll wait to see the live performance.

She was also a jury member for France in 2016. She placed Frans first and Jamala second 🙂

I love this snippet too!!! each days I say the same thing 😉
Among leaked names, there are luc arbogast, jane constance, lisandro cuxi, nassi, so just one is missing……….mistery.
I’m waiting so much for the international juries opinions about all these entries, it will be the most important I think, I’m so excited about that!!!

I don’t like his music tbh. But I don’t think he needs Eurovision right now. He’s famous enough, why does he need to participate in a song contest!?

It’s wishful thinking, even if it turns out he won’t be competing this year. He hasn’t released any new material though since “Ensemble” was released 2 years ago and it’d be nice to see him go up against his fellow The Voice alumni, especially who are from his season.

And since when does one being famous ever stopped them from joining an internationally televised song contest?

Since forever? 🙂 The number of established artists on the Eurovision stage is very limited. And I’m talking about REALLY successful artists (placing 2nd on X Factor or having had a big hit in the 70s don’t count). And it makes sense, why would they do something risky and unpredictable like Eurovision when they don’t need it?

The only established artist I can think of at Eurovision is Patricia Kaas: she’s a legend in several countries, with a career spanning several decades and millions of albums sold… and she placed in the low top 10.

Standard French Ballad; that would get overlooked at Eurovision.

Edoardo Grassi is a genius because he knows this is the style Europe wants to hear from France, just like from Germany is expected Voxxclub style.

Yes, Europe wants these styles so much that they end up among the last.

I bet you also gave no chance to Jacques Houdek, probably.

How is Jacques Houdek related to this? This is a standard French ballad, people have heard it before. No one gets excited over it any-more.
People liked Jacques because it was a novelty act and they laughed at him. They liked it because it was a man singing a duet with himself and the kitsch-factor it brought!

People don’t vote something they laugh at.
