We’re little over a week into the new year and for many, “with a new year come new adventures”. A new adventure is exactly what Iceland’s Greta Salóme has decided to take up. She recently announced to fans that she got engaged while on holiday in Thailand!
Greta and her long-time boyfriend Elvar Þór Karlsson spent New Year’s in Thailand on the dreamy island of Phuket, along with a group of friends.
And as no surprise, Greta seems to have very much enjoyed her New Year’s Eve on the tropical island.
On Saturday her vacation got even dreamier, as Elvar got down on one knee and proposed. Greta of course said yes and described the day as “probably the best day ever”. It’s a day Greta will definitely never forget.
The proposal took place on Phi Phi Island, a popular destination in Thailand for both partygoers and happy couples. No doubt Greta and Elvar, along with their friend, managed to celebrate the new engagement with a bang.
Will it be a sultry summer wedding? A cosy winter wedding? Or maybe a New Year’s Eve wedding? Well, it’s only been a few days since the proposal, so no details about the wedding itself have been made official. The happy couple is probably still in a post-proposal bliss.
But it won’t all be wedding preparations when Greta returns from her vacation. She is among the artists in a new Phantom of the Opera concert show in February, held in Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík, where she will be performing the part of Meg Giry. The date of the show — 17th February — does give us the hint that we won’t be seeing Greta in Söngvakeppnin 2018, as it is the same date as the second semi-final. But you never know.
Greta was, however, part of a songwriting camp in for the UK’s selection You Decide so we might see her again in the national final season — this time as a songwriter.
We at wiwibloggs congratulate Greta and Elvar and wish them all the happiness in the world!
Sweeeeet!
