Eurovision You Decide 2018 poll UK

It has been a busy day for UK Eurovision fans — and that still might be an understatement! First came a midnight reveal of the artists for Eurovision: You Decide 2018. Then, this morning, all six songs were released in full.

Now there’s only one thing left: deciding who your favourite is! We want to know who y’all want to see win at You Decide on February 7. With that in mind, we’ve got a poll for you to have your say.

Eurovision: You Decide 2018 — Acts

With a number of different styles on offer, reaction seems to suggest that this is a stronger selection than last year’s crop. But of course, there can only be one winner from the group.

You can let us know who your favourite is to represent the United Kingdom in Lisbon in our poll. The rules are simple: you can vote for as many of the acts as you like. But you can only vote ONCE. That means your vote had better count when you make it, y’all!

Eurovision: You Decide 2018 — Who should win?

[polldaddy poll=9924949]

We’ll be revealing the results of our poll just before the final. Eurovision: You Decide 2018 will take place on Wednesday, February 7 inside the Brighton Dome. The show will be broadcast live on BBC2, hosted by Mel Giedroyc and Eurovision winner, Måns Zelmerlöw.

Who did you vote for? Do you think your favourite has a shot at getting the UK a good result in Lisbon? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments section below!

everyone voting, and Europe please get behind Asanda, and her song legends. this song has so much beat, and rhythm and so energetic to listen to. and I’m sure the performance will live up to all expectation and we will get a top 10 result. Asanda will deliver, and hopefully all of Europe get behind her.
Everyone vote Asanda

I’m quite surprised seeing so many people say this isn’t a strong line up this year, which fair enough some people don’t like. however I think Asanda if she got the right revamp, could deliver something brilliant in Lisbon, her song isn’t like anything we’ve had in the past, and she could attract viewers, with the right stage production and good chorography which could make the song stand out well. she will do us all proud as brits, and even if she doesn’t win which I hope she does I’m quite hopeful, she will bring a great result I’m sure… Read more »

I really like SuRie, with storm. This is very catchy and instant, it reminds me of Emmelie de Forest, I think it could do well if given the chance, not too keen on any of the others, sorry, but and 2nd choice would be Asanda.

well if people enjoy her song, then they will vote, I don’t know I personally will think like Croatia in 2016 the song might get lost in the competition, but with a little change it could do well, I’m hoping Asanda goes to Lisbon for the UK

I like Legends, Astronaut, I Feel the Love. They somehow have the basic song structure that appeals to radio, but I feel at their current stage they sound more like demos, with some outdated production values. A revamp of this three will do wonders, coupled with strong live vocals. If I were BBC, i’d scrap the other 3, then just ask this 3 to rework their entries (work with current producers) & do a live show from there. Voting for demo versions is just as bad as voting for basic songs

I don’t understand the negativity! We’ve improved so much in the past few years. Do I need to remind everyone of Electro Velvet? I would be fine with us sending any of these. I want to let my fellow country men know that, yes, we will probably not win for many years, and so what?! Enjoy the competition, discover some new music and don’t worry about winning!

absolutely right, compared to 2015, and 2016, these songs are excellent, and we have done brilliant compared to then. so we will get a great result regardless. I think people expect our songs don’t match up to countries like Sweden, but we have a great chance to get a top 10 this year.
and Asanda or Raya or even Goldstone could get us a good result this year.
I’m optimistic and think we will deliver.

Let’s be honest here. None of these are winning songs which is a pity. As a proud Irishman living in the UK, I really want the UK to do well (and better than previous years). For me, its Jaz 100%. Asanda’s song has potential but it’s as generic as they come. I agree with lots of folk though. It’s surely all about the live versions. We’ll soon see…

I find all 6 songs very average. They all sound like songs we’ve heard before. They’re all channelling other artists and songs. That said, the only one that could stand out is YOU, although I don’t really like it much.

looking back at all the songs, I kind of have a change of opinion, Legends and Crazy, will do well with the International juries, and probably well with the tele voters. so
1. Asanda
2. Raya
3. Goldstone
4. Liam Tamne
5. Surie
6. Jaz Ellington

Legends and Crazy are best two choices here, UK needs something that will get televotes since that’s where UK tends to trip up. Legends is the stronger of the two, has a better beat, it’s feisty and has a better opportunity for good staging. I think if international juries get behind Legends, UK might just sneak into top 10. Astronaut has that radio friendly vibe like Isaiah and Nathan did and they did appallingly with televote. You is a bit of a wild card people either really connect with it or find it boring, it’ll undoubtedly do well with jury… Read more »

As a life long lover of Eurovision and as a Brit, I am actually really happy with our selection of potential songs this year. It is a marked up improvement over previous years. I enjoyed all the songs but for me, Legends does stand out. It’s anthemic, it’s loud and I love the fact that if selected it wouldn’t be the typical “play it safe” or “pleasing – middle of the road” UK entry that we have sent in previous years. Of course, if selected the live performance would need to deliver but after how the UK transformed Lucie Jones… Read more »

Undoubted Asanda. You have to imagine; could you hear this song playing at the end credits of Eurovision on winning. It’s anthemic, current, fun and a bold cultural statement. It’s probably the one contestant in many years that has a song you’d hear in our actual charts. With a bit of tweaking on production and some energetic staging this could go down so, so well! I thought Crazy was also decent, but definitely not up their with Legends. As lovely as Lucie’s song was last year.. it’s not really a song that everyone would go out in their droves and… Read more »

Definitely better line up than last year for the U.K!
“Legends” is current, fresh, I can easily listen to this on the radio. Amazing voice and great music. However, I have my doubts about the live performance, but if Asanda kills it live, she should definitely go!
Also, I really like “You”. It’s so beautiful. Not sure it will have an international appeal though.
And “Astronaut” sounds good, it’s sweet and has a nice melody, but this title troubles me a bit. I don’t want to see another astronaut on stage, please.

Legend is the only option as a song but i worry about it live

The BBC will want to send You or Storms and this is a huge mistake, they have bottom 5 written all over them.

Legend has the rememrability factor and its crazy and wild. Im just hoping for a decent live and that everyone sees sense

Obviously Legends. The UK has been too safe the past couple of years and they need to get back to letting their hair down a little and just enjoying music for what it is.

UK are stepping their game up this year aaaaahh I love 3 songs, enjoy 2 and find 1 mediocre. I would like to see Asanda win, because her song has something Eurovision has never seen and I think it could work really well. I’m predicting RAYA will win, but that won’t bother me because I love her song too.

I think we should send something which is representtative of today’s music in the UK scene and based on that, Legends should be the song that gets put forward. I don’t think any of these songs are strong enough to win and I think a few of these songs (Legends, Crazy) are in completely different leagues to the others. Legends is something that hasn’t really been seen at Eurovision before and I think regardless of whether it isn’t Europe’s ‘typical’ music taste, it is without a doubt the most daring and exciting route to take for Lisbon. The UK is… Read more »

I liked “Legends” and “Storm” the most. As some others have already stated the result would depend on the staging and presentation as none of them is especially strong for a contest.
But in spite of all.. good entries from the UK this year. There was no Song among them I really disliked.

I’m shocked that Legends is no.1. There is a reason why Margaret-Cool me down was not voted as much as Michal Szpak in Polish NF. This genre is not liked everywhere in Europe. Is just your Western Europe music taste.
I like the song You, but I have no hope that will be in esc.
Also, why the lyrics of You are controversial?

I think that this selection is excellent, bear in mind this is the UK (my country) we’re talking about here, and for them to pull this out of nowhere you got to give them props for that, there are songs in this selection that are better than the past 10 years of UK entries. So I’m going to give my Top 6 and give estimates on how they’ll do if advanced to ESC. 6.) Goldstone – I Feel the Love 2.76/10 This song is sooooooooo generic and badly build you’ll find it in IKEA, it doesn’t sound right, it’s a… Read more »

6.) Goldstone – I Feel the Love 2.76/10 This song is sooooooooo generic and badly build you’ll find it in IKEA, it doesn’t sound right, it’s a bit of a mishmash of different ingredients that does not work. Estimate at ESC: Very Low on both Televote and Juries. Placing: 23rd-26th Points: <25 5.) SuRie – Storm 3.98/10 Although, she is a terrific singer the song feels disjointed and misplaced and unfinished, it has a folksy-pop country Vibe to it which has its followers (Firelight – Malta 2014) but, it's just not strong enough Estimate at ESC: Low on both Televote… Read more »

This line-up is a big improvement from past years attempts and a step in the right direction. They are well-produced and sound current. My top and thoughts at first listen: 1. Asanda – “Legends” (7.25/10). It has catched my attention since the very first second. Interesting beat and the gutural sounds add some flavour too it. The trumpets/trombones in the pre-chorus fit really well. All of the songs are well produced, but this one is specially outstanding in this matter. It is really uplifting, energetic and danceable. It isn’t a materpiece compared to other songs in this NF season, but… Read more »

Please cut down on the y’alls. It’s forced, unnecessary and stale (slay too). Variety is the spice of life!

Not thrilled with these songs to be honest, it looks like all the performers all have potential so I may warm to them when I see them live. I like elements of ‘You’ but not sure of some of the lyrics (and I’m not sure it would win)

1. You – Lyrically the strongest song
2. Legends – Song with the catchiest hook
3. Astronaut – Flows easily and radio friendly
4. Crazy – Just okay, I guess
5. Storm – Strong verses, dull chorus
6. Feel the Love – Officially rated G for generic

Storm – 5.5/10 – Beautifully written verses that just build-up to a repetitive chorus that goes nowhere. You – 8.5/10 – Beautiful, meaningful lyrics, beautiful voice! The topic is also fairly original, and by that I mean not done to death. (Only other example on ESC would be Holly’s last year You Decide entry, “I Wish I Loved You More”) With an emotional performance, this could be a winner. My only issue is that the chorus seems to be a bit disjointed from the verse. Both are lovely, but a transition seems abrupt. Astronaut – 7/10 – For a mainstream… Read more »

I feel the love of the 80’s. Honestly, it’s the only song which is catchy and straightforward. Happy and fun even if it triggers that DATED flag at the credpolice. It is also the only song I wanted to hear more than once. Raya’s song sounds like it was performed by Ukraine or Armenia. Asanda is OK, but I don’t think she will get very far in the contest.

for us to get a good position either Asanda, Goldstone, or Raya should go through to Lisbon

so far, 3 songs appeal to me. 1) Asanda – Legend – Easy on the ears, love the tribal and dance vibe. I have this feeling that it may do just well in the Eurovision. If they revamp this song maybe add a little bit more culture with maybe some ethnic lyrics. 2) Jaz Ellington – You – I supposed this was the Ed Sheerany song that Mans mentioned on the snippet? Again easy on the ear… reminds me of Gospel song somhowe… but it could do with a better lyrics specially on its verse. I dunno i feel like… Read more »

I think that Crazy will win. It’s a really good song with catchy lyrics and could do very well if it won in Feb.Astronaut is also good , but I think Legends is disappointing. It has good parts but the chorus doesn’t really boost it, it just builds it up and then continues without a strong chorus .”

Well, these are surely not the worst songs, but seriously, is this what the UK can pull ?! I expected some better entries, after having sent a masterpiece last year.

The only option, which could do well imo is Legends. With a good staging and a possible revamp, it could actually surpise and bring the UK back to the right side of the scoreboard.

Hopefully they won’t mess it up, and send Asanda.
