He’s the ever-evolving singer who has, in recent history, grown out his hair, honed his torso and become one of the hottest surfer dudes on the block. And now Danish delight Tim Schou is treating his fans to another slice of mid-tempo pop. Yes peeps, bow down to his latest track, ’cause its about to take over your body.

The former frontman of A Friend In London has had a very busy 2017 touring Germany, writing a Melodifestivalen entry, and shooting music videos in various locations including Ghana and California. In that time, he picked up a Best Male Artist at the IAMA awards, signed a worldwide deal with BMG recordings and re-invented his image.

But there is more to this Danish star than just his looks. Tim is an accomplished singer-songwriter with a growing catalogue of quality songs. “Altar” sees him tackling serious, yet controversial subject matter like sex and religion.

Recorded in a Russian sauna, draped in chiffon, mannequins and lit with candles, the object of Schou’s affection here is visualized with a body-painted freckled goddess with turquoise hair.  A unique model in so many ways, Elizy departs from the conventional and gives this project an interesting texture. “Altar” is a pulsating club marvel that bows down to lust, and the desire to dance. The song’s midriff contains an infectious hook which would leave you humming its tune for days.

Speaking to wiwibloggs, Schou explains:

“Altar was actually conceived and tracked in a sauna on the occasion of the birthday of my Russian friend Alexsej. Four German producers, a Canadian songwriter and myself were all gathered, talking about sex and religion, inspired by the divine creative forces of fermented Russian potato-juice. I like to use these random experiences that seems so mundane on the surface, but really gives life its spice and depth. This long sauna-session turned into “Altar”, an ode worshiping the sensual female body. The Canadian songwriter Martin Gallop  was the curator behind this lyrical concept. He was walking around like a mad scientist in a sauna gown and scratching his beard trying to solve this lyrical puzzle. Martin always takes inspiration from my life when I tell him my stories from the road, and that’s how we got to talking about sex and religion.”

The themes of sex and religion continue in the music video. Schou the sexy hipster morphs into the desired object, and in some scenes, he paints the desired object: the holy female grail. The video is erotic without being vulgar. This project also allows Schou to indulge in his family pastime. “My dad is an amazing painter and I often find myself deeply inspired by his work”, he tells us. The pace of the beats fits the visual presentation directed by Jordan Nistico. Following their successful collaboration with “Novocaine”, Altar sees Schou join forces again with Hitimpulse, a successful German producer team behind artists such as such as Kygo, Ellie Goulding, Alma, Felix Jaehn and Craig David.

TIM SCHOU – “ALTAR”  LYRICS

I’m bowing down
Bowing down, bowing down
To the altar
To the altar that is your body

Another Friday night, call me up
Call me up, call me up,
Call me up and take me there
Oh, paradise in your eyes
In the way your body lies
I wanna dive into the water
The devil may care

Show me your moves and your golden rule
Show me the way to your Sunday school
I’m an infidel looking for a reason
And you’re the best thing to believe in

I’m bowing down
Bowing down, bowing down
To the altar
To the altar that is your body

Bowing down
Bowing down, bowing down
To the altar
To the altar that is your body

Let me now confess, and forget, and forget, and forget
That little death is all I need
The way you undress, in your eyes
In the way your body lies
wanna dive into the water
The devil may care

Show me your moves and your golden rule
Show me the way to your Sunday school
I’m an infidel looking for a reason
And you’re the best thing to believe in

I’m bowing down, bowing down
Bowing down
To the altar
To the altar that is your body

Bowing down, bowing down
Bowing down
To the altar
To the altar that is your body

To the altar
To the altar that is your body

To the altar
To the altar that is your body

I’m bowing down, bowing down
Bowing down
To the altar
To the altar that is your body

I’m bowing down, bowing down
Bowing down
To the altar
To the altar that is your body

To the altar
To the altar that is your body

To the altar
To the altar that is your body

I love it! I’ve been his fan since A Freind in London! He’s such a great singer (and with great looks too).
