They stormed to victory during Monday’s Spanish final. And now Alfred & Amaia are your favourite Eurovision 2018 act so far.

Of the 9,494 votes cast in total, the “Tu canción” duo picked up 3,260 (34.34%) — an impressive haul given that the combined total for all acts in our previous poll was 3,747.

Spain: Alfred & Amaia “Tu canción”

Despite an eleventh hour surge in support, 2018’s first poll topper Eugent Bushpepa must make do with the runner-up spot. Nonetheless, the Albanian singer increased his tally week-on-week, with “Mall” securing 2,413 votes (25.42%). That compares to 1,957 last time.

Albania: Eugent Bushpepa “Mall”

French duo Madame Monsieur also saw a rise in popularity, even if their third place finish is one spot lower than before. “Mercy” garnered 2,321 votes (24.45%), up from 1,790.

France: Madame Monsieur “Mercy”

Last, but by no means least, it’s the Czech Republic’s Mikolas Josef. His saucy number “Lie To Me” seduced 1,500 of you into voting for him (15.79% of all votes cast).

Czech Republic: Mikolas Josef “Lie To Me”

Your Eurovision favourites on 3 Februray (4 acts)

  1. Spain: Alfred & Amaia “Tu canción” 34.34% (3,260 votes)
  2. Albania: Eugent Bushpepa “Mall” 25.42% (2,413 votes)
  3. France: Madame Monsieur “Mercy” 24.45% (2,321 votes)
  4. Czech Republic: Mikolas Josef “Lie To Me” 15.79% (1,500 votes)

Total Votes: 9,494

Thankfully, this isn’t a battle royale. Our quartet will return to the ring once again when we relaunch the poll on Sunday. They’ll be joined by two new adversaries in the shape of the winners from the Maltese and Swiss national selections.

What do you think of the current standings? Does Spain deserve to be at number one? And can it hold on to the top spot now that the competition is picking up pace? Who’s your Eurovision favourite? Let us know below.

Buenas tardes. Soy española y acabo de entrar en esta página. Estoy alucinando con el odio que tenéis a los españoles. Me siento ofendida realmente.

I want Spain to do well at Eurovision so badly but it KILLS me to see them go for diabetes-inducing sugar ballads every single friggin time. Have they learnt NOTHING from the success of Despacito?! The world loves reggaeton and doesn’t care if it’s in Spanish or in English, meaning Spain is the perfect country to bring that genre to the Euro stage. Something like “Lo malo” (with a better singer than Ana Guerra, admittedly) would take the continent by storm, but NO once again we’re stuck with sugary crap. It will be a deserved 19th place for them this… Read more »

If people are voting for their own country then Albania should not be competing with Spain or France since they are multiple times bigger. So I guess people either really like Eugent, his song, or his fans are very dedicated.

No no no! I am probably in the minority here, but the performance of the Spanish duo is ultra cheesy, coming off unnatural and nauseating, I just can’t get over it… Listening to thr song without watching the performance – much better, but still not my cup of tea, sorry…

And I must say, I love Spanish ballads at Eurovision. Pastora and Ruth are two of my all time favs in Eurovision, but thry are in a completely different league!

For me: 1. FRANCE; 2. Albania; 3. Czech Republic; 4. Spain

Albania was last yesterday in the poll and now a few hours before the end of the vote had lots of new votes!
The top was : 1. Spain 2. France 3. Czech Republic 4. Albania.
And now : 1. Spain 2. Albania 3. France 4. Czech Republic ^^
Even if these 4 songs are great, the polls are very funny because they change all the time and are not representative of a wider trend.

I think Spain will do well, there is certainly a group of voters (and possibly jurors) who will be pleased with the raw emotion the song (rather the duo of singers) gives, but I simply do not see it winning.

France is my favorite by far, then Spain, then Albania then Czech Rep. Having said that, I think we are off to a very good start- there are no ‘bad songs’ yet.I hope Daniela Cassar or Christebelle wins in Malta tonight, because if Brooke wins, it will be the first ‘eww’ song of the year for me.

These 2 brought music back, yes salvador was a special case because even though he was sick he didnt have to shout high notes or sing a political song in english. I wasn’t expecting France to be under Albania, because I’ve noticed in the comments from that article, that many fans of Mercy from all Europe, really want to defeat Albania, only because they suspected in the first poll (with only two countries) Albania won just with the votes of intolerant people that hate Mercy’s message. It’s hard to judge Albania when they have a 4.5 minute song. France, in my opinion, is the cream of the crop thus far. She’s got the look and the edge. Albania could challenge France when their song is edited.

Czech Republic’s song has no climax and Mikolas seems like an insufferable person.

Albania is first for me, what we have to be careful about when voting is that Albania’s song is going to change where the other three right now (and more to come) are already at three minutes. Albania had to cut their song down by a third which can be challenging since it is a slow to build type of song. Here’s hoping for the best for Albania that they get it right. I think they will since Eugent has so much experience behind him.
