Ciao! Today, February 6, Italy will finally bring life to its long-lasting Sanremo Music Festival to determine who will represent the country at the Eurovision 2018.

Everything is ready at the Ariston Theatre in Sanremo, Liguria, where the five-night, majestic show will take place. The stream will be live — and so will our nerves and excitement!

Twenty artists will sing their entries live one after the other for the first time but unlike the past few years NO ONE will be eliminated.

Who do our international readers think should win? We wanted to find out, so for the last week we’ve been asking y’all to vote in our poll. After counting a total of 1,665 votes, we can now reveal that Annalisa is the clear favourite among our global audience to slay her way to the final.

Annalisa is no stranger to our voters. She already won our Sanremo-related poll in 2016 and now she gets another victory. With 29.43% of all votes the singer — who recently earned a gold disc for her single “Direzione la vita” — topped the poll. In Sanremo 2018 she presents the song “Il mondo prima di te”.

In second place with 22.34% of the votes there’s another well-known and beloved act. We still remember her fizzy performance in Baku at Eurovision 2012 with “L’amore è femmina (Out of love)“. Since then, Nina Zilli has made huge strides and this year she returns to the Italian national selection with “Senza appartenere”.

A pair of male songwriters comes third. Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro are the meeting point between Albania and Italy. They have solid experience behind them and according to the betting agencies they’re the ones to beat. They collected 15.92% of the overall vote.

WHICH SANREMO 2018 ACT YOU ARE MOST EXCITED ABOUT? (RESULTS)

Annalisa great and her song is amazing! I really like it! And what a beautiful performance. She should win the whole thing and go to Eurovision! (clearly rooting for her in Sanremo 2018)

I like Annalisa’s song!

I can see a 17th place finish in Lisbon, though, quality notwithstanding.

No please, this is just a plagiarism of Silenzio from Ambra Calvani e Gabriele De Pascali and nobody can tell me I dream about this plagiarism – Same Melody and same lyrics on the chorus !!!! This is so obvious …

I disliked her entry in 2016 because it was too depressing this year her 2018 song is so lit! I’m definitely behind Italy if they send her. Just hoping that the juries and viewers will love it enough to put her into Top 3..

Just switch to an internal selection and send Annalisa with Direzione la vita.

Not yet..but her pop single from 3 months ago might be an indication that her San Remo entry could have a similar style to that..

Pretty sure the previews in the Italian press were saying it’s similar to Il diluvio universale.

I guess that makes sense, but I’m the kind of guy that needs to hear the songs before I vote.

No, they haven’t. The songs will be revealed during the show itself.
