Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2018 Denmark DMGP

They’re the Scandinavian country that won it all back in 2013. And after being left behind in the semifinals for two years in a row, Denmark finally made it back to the final in 2017. Now Danish broadcaster DR hopes to take things higher with the release of the ten songs competing in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2018.

The ten hopefuls were announced in January as candidates, but their songs only dropped on February 5. With the DMGP final on February 10, that doesn’t give y’all much time to take in the music and start makin’ your minds up.

Whilst the songs were available in-full on Spotify for Danish listeners, non-Danes could only hear 30-second snippets initially. Thankfully the full versions of the songs have now appeared online.

And we want to hear what you think. Listen to the ten songs and then tell us what you think in our poll. As always, you can vote for as many acts as you like, but you can only vote once — so make your vote count!

Try to compare our winner song, Higher Ground, with the other international winners ! It´s for sure a song for the final and top 5 overall !!!

For me it’s between “Riot” and “Higher ground”. In general, this NF is a bit of a let down.

I’m not fond of any of them, really. ‘Holder fast i ingenting’ is the only one that doesn’t manage to irritate me.

Higher Ground is fantastic and sounds different from all other competing entries! I also like Music For the Road, Angels To My Battlefield, Boys On Girls and Standing Up For Love. Starlight is also cute.

Nice but I guess I will wait for live performance and staging. So far haven’t really heard anything that was wow that’s the winner. Good luck Denmark.

Albin, Rasmussen, Sandra and Sannie are all really good. It’s not such a weak selection as most people make it look like.

KARUI with Signals is the one for me.
Rasmussen – Higher Ground is so dated it’s kinda cringy to listen to.

I voted for Sannie. I don’t necessarily think it’s the best, or even a good song at all, but it’s fun and when I would take it 1000x over Where I Am.

Funny how Sannie sounds nothing like Whigfield.

“Higher Ground” is generic and just awful, just please no. For me its probably the worst one, dont understand the hype around it at all..

While higher grounds has a different feel than any of the recent ESC songs…..I find it a bit monotonous and hence its status as a runaway favorite doesn’t really make sense to me. That being said it is a good song and will be a worthy winner in DMGP. However there are 5 other songs that I am putting in the same bracket and I don’t know my inability to decide on a favorite out of the 6 is because all of them are only ok or all of them are actually good. I am not a fan of Signals,… Read more »

My favorite is Rikke. Her song is well-produced, well-written and well-sung. It has that stunning Danish vibe to it, and it’s smooth and sensual. It’s my favorite song in this entire Eurovision season, so far.

Nobody. Literally nobody. Honestly, Denmark should start selecting internally. This is a s*** show unworthy of such a great country.

Anna Ritsmar – “Starlight“ is best choice. With her Denmark in TOP 10 in final and maybe TOP 5. Song is mix of denmark song from 1995 and song Universe from DMGP 2012 (best song that year in DMGP) and both song written by Lisa Cable (she compose song for Denmark 1995,2011,2013 winning song).
Other song with some chance for good result for Denmark Higher Ground.

Higher Ground. It’s amazing… If they don’t send this, they can stay home.
