Following the conclusion of the four heats, Lithuania’s national selection Eurovizijos atranka 2018 really started heating up with the first quarter-final round. And tonight’s first of two shows saw half of the 24 qualifiers return to perform their entries.

Only six can advance to the semi-finals in two weeks time — and it was Kotryna Juodzeviciute who emerged victorious as tonight’s winner. She will be joined in the next stage by Jurgis Bruzga, Godo, Paula, Twosome and GeraiGerai & Silvija Pankunaite.

Sadly, the journey came to an end for Vidas Bareikis, Lukas Norkunas, Milda Rasilaviciute, Juozas Martin, Benas Malakauskas and Germante Kinderyte.

How come there were no winners from last 4 shows in 5th heat? that means 6th heat will contain every winner, weird/.

These results is very interesting. I mean, Kotryna won the show but last week she was only 5th. Could it her triumph be the outcome of the fact that this show was relatively weak ? Almost all of her competitors who defeated her in heat 4 will perform next week. Only Jurgis was here and it was also very strange – he won the televoting while last week he was only 7th. Lastly, Germante was dead last in the televoting this week while previously she managed to gain roughly 7 times more votes and even to be 2nd in televoting.… Read more »

Different competitors and songs put in the same heat as well as improved performances. That is what is happening. 😉

Well, in show 1 Germante received more televoting points than all the other acts who qualified and performed this week – that’s Godo, Lukas, Benas & Milda. But this week she got least votes out of them all. If you compare just numbers, that’s also suspiciuos – 748 votes previous time vs 186 votes yesterday 🙂

Will the Wiwi Jury review 6 songs from Heat 4? And they should probably review six finalists before the final, as those finalists’ songs will have been revamped like three times by then.

They’re actually allowed to revamp the songs ! That gives a lot more sense to this marathon preselection. I thought only the performances could change.

Paula should win This selection, the only one with a chance.

At this point, last year, 8 songs qualified. But since there are “only” 9 shows this year, I guess they only take 6 qualifiers.
Why does nobody like Paula’s song? Why did the jury change their minds between the heats and this night? And why the tie-breaker is the jury vote? This raises many questions.
Kotryna is good, but she’s better than her song. Jurgis is okay.

Paula’s song is good, but not better than Kotryna’s. Because “That Girl” is modern R&B and it’s more serious than POP…

Paula’s song is a typical scandi-song, nothing interesting, nothing special, and she doesn’t have a powerful voice, I mean she didn’t even qualify to the live shows of the “Voice of Lithuania”, so she is just average…

You know what ? Donny’s song was also a typical scandi-song, nothing special, yet he finished in TOP 10. And how did not-typical and very interesting song of Fusedmarc place ? Is it so hard to understand that these typical songs manage to do well in Eurovision while those ‘interesting’ is seen as a mess by Europeans ?
@Phary juries didn’t change their minds. Paula was also 5th in previous show.

Yes, but Kotryna only got 8 jury points in Heat 4, and now with supposedly stronger competitors, she placed first with the jury (apparently she had a much better performance that may explain that).
Other question: why does the jury supports joke act Twosome ? Usually the televote likes this type of song…

Do you really compare a performer and a professional that Donny is with a beginner Paula?
Some of those do manage to do well in Eurovision, some of them do not, don’t be so sure.
Paula is so average comparing even to Ieva, not even talking about Kotryna or Monika Marija..

I couldn’t care less about her result in The Voice when she has a better song than most of her competitors and she can sing that particular song pretty well. This is a song competition not a voice competition. Paula gets so much undeserved hate it’s not even funny.

If you think that every comment that is not positive or supporting is hate, it’s up to you, but I do not think so..
She does looks and sounds better than last year, but well maybe it’s not only my opinion that it’s not that good if the voter only ranked her at 5th place.
