Hungary’s national final A Dal 2018 continued tonight, with four acts qualifying for the grand final. Gergely Dánielfy, Zsolt Süle, Gábor Heincz BIGA and Leander Kills will progress to the grand final in two weeks time.

The first three qualifiers were determined by a combination of televote and an expert jury made up of actress Judit Schell, Magna Cum Laude lead singer Misi Mezo, award-winning musician Miklós Both and the music legend Károly Frenreisz.

The winner of this vote was Gergely Dánielfy. He earned 47 points for his song “Azt mondtad”. In second place was Zsolt Süle, with his song “Zöld a május” on 45 points. Following in third place was Gábor Heincz Biga who was delivering his “Good Vibez” with 42 points.

The fourth qualifier was selected by a second round of public voting. The public agreed with the results of the first round — the fourth spot went to Leander Kills who had previously placed fourth in the first round with their song “Nem szól harang”.

Since the launch of A Dal in 2012, the show’s winners have consistently qualified for the Eurovision grand final. The most successful entries have been ByeAlex, whose sweet hipster ballad “Kedvesem (Zoohacker Remix)” placed 10th in 2013, András Kállay-Saunders, whose edgy dubstep exploration of domestic violence “Running” placed fifth in 2014, and Joci Pápai whose mysterious “Origo” placed eight last year.

What do you think? Is there a potential A Dal winner amongst these acts? Share your thoughts below!

As a hungarian, I have mixed feelings towards the Dal 2018. There are several quality productions, no question about it. But almost all of them has something against them, why they wouldn’t do well at the Eurovision. Zsolt Süle – very nice song, but eurovision fans might consider it outdated Leander & AWS – both are considered excellent rock songs, but we know how rock music usually do at eurovision… Gergely Dánielfy – again nice song with a very serious perfomance, but I think we can all agree that he got the idea from Salvador Sobral, and eurovision usually won’t… Read more »

Ham ko Ham was my favourite =/
I have to say that all these qualifiers are kinda meh, and Gerley is snoozefest indeed, trying to be saved by the violin. I’ve already done it, but I’m calling again a non-qualification fon Hungary this yr.

For me Gergely is the clear winner of this year. Nothing comes close

I’m surprised that the audience really didn’t like Gabi’s song.
Gergely has a good song (honestly the only comparison with Salvador is that they are both men singing a slow song, Azt Mondtad isn’t at all a jazzy ballad like Amar Pelos Dois) but he probably won’t win A Dal (I guess) if he can’t get better than an 8 in televoting, against all the favorites in SF2.
I wouldn’t mind seeing him in Lisbon though. Honestly, A Dal 2018 is so strong that I’d be happy with any of the Top 5 Wiwi Jury songs.

The guy who has won this SF is too similar to Salvador Sobral… I don’t really think that’s a good thing. Hungary should try something different.

I suppose Leander officially killed their chances with the jury, so AWS have a bigger chance.

This A Dal final will be a bloodbath, with so many high-qualtity acts tearing each other apart for the jury’s votes. Remember my words, when AWS, Tamás Horváth and yesyes qualify next Saturday

Considering it is the jury that puts that final four through, you’re more likely to see Zsolt Süle and Gergely Dánielfy in there.
One of AWS, Tamás, Victor and Yesyes are not even going to make the final based on the jury’s previous voting. 😉
