Iceland: FÓKUS hópurinn, Ari Ólafsson and Heimilistónar qualify from Söngvakeppni´s first semi-final3
Tonight, in Háskólabíó Reykjavík, the first semi-final of Söngvakeppni 2018 took place. Six songs fought for the ticket to the final on March 3. In the end, after the public had voted, the results were clear.
After a night of versatile performances — from an epic self awareness song to a 60´s housewife anthem — the three acts in the finals were called out on stage in a random order. Some predictable results mixed with unexpected dark horses. The first three finalists are:
- FÓKUS hópurinn with “Aldrei gefast upp/Battleline”
- Ari Ólafsson with “Heim/Our choice”
- Heimilistónar with “Kúst og Fæjó”
All six acts performed in Icelandic in the semi-final. The qualifiers will be able to perform the English language version of their tracks in the final, however.
A clear televote decided who would make it to the finals, which will be held on March 3 in Laugardalshöll arena.
In the final, it will be a 50/50 split vote between a jury and televoting. The top two acts after this will go ahead to the super final, where the viewers at home will decide who will follow in Svala´s footsteps come May.
