Melodifestivalen 2018 semi final two snippets

Margaret’s toilet has been flushed, Samir & Viktor are making us shuffle and that’s just the start of it. Tonight’s second semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2018 brings us a number of returning faces and a whole load of musical styles as well.

With just a few hours to go before the show kicks off at 20:00 CET, we can now hear more from all of the songs. As always, SVT has published 2.30 minute snippets of each song. Could these nearly-complete versions change some minds ahead of the show?

You can find links to all the snippets below. Simply click on the song title for each artist to be sent to the clip on SVT Play.

Melodifestivalen 2018: Semi-Final Two Snippets

  1. Samir & Viktor — “Shuffla”
  2. Ida Redig — “Allting som vi sa”
  3. Jonas Gardell — “Det finns en väg”
  4. Margaret — “In My Cabana”
  5. Stiko Per Larsson — “Titta vi flyger”
  6. Mimi Werner — “Songburning”
  7. LIAMOO — “Last Breath”

There was some native language love going on in last night’s audience poll. Samir & Viktor topped the rankings with their Swedish “Shuffla”, ahead of Idol winner, LIAMOO. The Andra Chansen spots would be set to go to Margaret and Mimi Werner.

Our readers poll, however, places Margaret as the winner. Samir & Viktor would have to settle for second place, whilst LIAMOO and Mimi take 3rd and 4th. Is it bad news for Ida, Jonas & Stiko, who don’t feature in either polls top four?

You can hear all the songs in full tonight when the second semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2018 goes live. You can watch on SVT Play from 20:00 CET, with David Lindgren once again hosting.

my top: 1, Shuffla 2, Last Breath 3, In My Cabana 4, Songburning 5, Allting som vi sa 6, Titta vi flyger 7, Det finns en väg Before hearing the snippets, Margaret was my second place, but In My Cabana seems like such a lazy effort in my view.. It’s a weak semi-final, the qualifiers are pretty clear, but i expected more from her.. On the other hand, I knew Samir & Victor would deliver an other bop, and that i would like it. It’s my favorite entry from them and i think it’s also the best one of the… Read more »

In My Cabana – sounds like Cant Remember To Forget You by Rihanna and Havana by Camila Cabello ???

As a big Camila fan, Cabana is just.. okay. John and Benjamin can feel comfortable for another week.

I like especially four songs even more now. And that’s especially Shuffla and Last Breath. DF please. And then In my Cabana and Songburning to AC. This is not bad at all. But no winners of MF here I think.

You expressed exactly my thoughts. These four songs are all very good and I hope they advance tonight. But no winner yet.

This longer snippet of Margaret’s song sounds even better than the previous one. I hope she will qualify to the final! Sweden, please.

Mimi and Samir & Viktor are the only ones that do it for me. Liamoo, Ida and Margaret are okay, little disappointed with Margaret tho. Some of her songs are amazing and this doesn’t quite match

I like Margaret’s song. Her vocals seem okay during the rehearsal. It should sail through the final easy peasy, I think.

I never thought I’d be saying this… but Samir and Viktor have one of the best songs in Melfest 2018.

Margaret is dissapointing. Very repetitive. Not a winning song. Songbird by Mimi is a great countrypopsong. Love it! I also like Liamoo, that chorus sounds like a HIT! Im sure a song like Last Breath would do well in esc. Dont think it will win MF though 😉

The ”full length” version of Shuffla is even more amazing in my opinion. In my cabana sounds better when you listen to it more, it still doesn’t convince me completely and I know her live perfomance won’t be good… :/
Liamoo as grown on me actually, should qualify. Other then shuffla and last breath, the rest is kinda meh.

I feel that there was so much hype surrounding Margaret and Liamoo the other artists faded into the background so anything they produced would have therefore been much better than what we expected (because minimal was actually expected). Hearing the 2:30 minute version reinforces my beliefs. In all honesty Margaret’s song isn’t as bad as everyone thought, I would have expected better lyrics because her songwriting team were part of Cool Me Down. So, my original top was: DTF: Mimi//Liamoo AC: Margaret//Samir&Viktor But upon reflection I do feel these songs are far stronger than initially given credit. So, for my… Read more »

Apparently, Jonas’ song is so boring, that it’s called “Listen to songs” from now xDD

I wish Ida qualifies, not even DTF, but at least to AC

Margaret’s song is amazing the more I listen to it. I don’t know why people say it sounds like Havana just because the associate it with the word Cabana. If it was sung by someone else they would be screaming that its a winner!!!

The song is very good, but uonoringal in a sense. I think Songburning and Last Breath are the most unique sounding.

The song is very good, but I would say slightly unoriginal. Sweden should be risky and send something like Songburning and Last Breath as they are the most unique sounding.

The song is the crappiest piece of rubbish ever. And she can only sing with the backing track, nonsense.

The more I listen to Margaret’s song, the more I like it.
I cannot understand how people say it’s a copy of “Havana”. WTH??

No one said its a copy. People said she flicked the catchiest part of havana- oh na na and put it into cabana!
BTW where is manana?

Cabello hasn’t invented the ‘oh na na na’ though.
