Six acts have already performed in Iceland’s national final, Söngvakeppnin 2018. With three acts having qualified from the first semi-final, it’s nearly time for the acts from the second to take to the stage.
The second semi-final will take place on February 17 , with the remaining 6 acts competing for three spots in the final, which takes place in Laugardalshöllin March 3.
All this means it’s time for us to ask you: who is your favourite act from the second-semi final? You can listen to the songs below and then vote in our poll.
The competing songs for Söngvakeppnin have been released both in Icelandic and in English. As they will be sung in Icelandic in the semi-final, this poll will contain the Icelandic versions. You can still listen to the English versions here though.
Söngvakeppnin 2018: Second Semi-Final
Aron Hannes – “Golddigger”
Áttan – “Hér með þér”
Dagur Sigurðsson – “Í stormi”
Stefanía Svavarsdóttir, Agnes Marinósdóttir & Regína Lilja Magnúsdóttir – “Svaka stuð”
Þórir Geir Guðmundsson & Gyða Margrét Kristjánsdóttir – “Brosa”
Rakel Pálsdóttir – “Óskin mín”
Those are the six competing acts. Now, you can vote in our poll. Remember, you can vote for as many of the acts as you like. The only catch is that you can only vote once — so make it count!
[polldaddy poll=9934085]You can also let us know who you voted for and who you think will make it through down in our comments section. We’ll reveal the results ahead of the semi-final on 17 February.
For a second I thought Rakel was about to sing Ben by Michael Jackson….
Brosa has to win. Love the song so much. It’s heads and shoulders above the others. Their harmonies are like honey!
If the live vocals, staging and chemistry are on point, I see no reason why it can’t emulate the success the Common Linnets had if it’s given the chance.
I also believe they should sing it in Icelandic rather than English. It sounds fresher and more sincere.
Going fifth in the running order seems like a good spot but Icelandic voters seem to be unpredictable, so I’m just praying it won’t be overlooked here. Fingers crossed!
I have to say the songs sound better in Icelandic than in English.
Dagur stands out for me. I also like “Brosa” which I believe should stay in Icelandic if it wins.
1) Áttan
2) the other couple, I guess
3)
4)
5)
6) the others
I only remember Brosa, the rest are trash.
Stefania, Agnes and Regina for me! No chance of qualifying but 100% my style (and era) of music. If it was 8 minutes long, it would sound like a RAH Band track (look it up, kiddies)!
Arf, if Golddigger win the SK, there will be two Rn’B songs, from Czech republic and iceland. Not good for them.
Golddigger, Her med per and Brosa are heads and shoulders above this semi, the rest: forget you, go home, goodbye.
Þórir Geir & Gyða Margrét – “Brosa”
pls
Golddigger is a lame attempt at a music style I already don’t like.
I really like Brosa, however. I think it’s a very genuine and sweet song and would be a great representative for Iceland.
It’s in the same semi as Czech Republic and in the same half even! And I think the Czech song is better!
I’ll have to agree with you on that!
My vote goes to Rakel, who has the most authentic and emotional song.
Mess, that Gold Digger poor man’s Bruno Mars cringefest actually has fans? My vote goes to Áttan, the only song that sounds like it was recorded in this decade.
Dagur Sigurðsson – “Í stormi” is the best from this semifinal. The rest are very generic
Brosa has to win
Sorry for the offtopic, but there’s Madara’s LIVE at Supernova: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkkGlu15fl8
