The temperature is rising in Armenia as Depi Evratesil approaches. The first semi-final — set for 19 February — is just days away and will officially launch the search to find Artsvik’s successor. AMPTV has now revealed which ten artists will compete in each semi-final.

Ten artists will sing-it-out in the first semi-final on 19 February, while the other ten will perform on 22 February. Five artists will progress from each show, setting up a grand final with ten songs on 25 February.

Semi-final 1

Semi-final 1 features Wiwi Jury favourite Tamar Kaprelian. Tamar is the only act from the Wiwi Jury’s Top 5 to compete in this semi-final, placing her in good stead to qualify. Interestingly, she will go up against her Nvak Foundation student Lusine Mardanyan. Will it be a case of the student surpassing the teacher? The first semi-final also includes self-proclaimed winner Mger Armenia and Hayk Kasparov, who will likely benefit from the two Spanish songs being in different semi-finals. The full line-up of the first semi-final is:

  • Angel — “Heartbeat”
  • Gata Band — “Shogha”
  • Gevorg Harutyunyan — “Stand Up”
  • Hayk Kasparov — “Enamorame”
  • Lusine Mardanyan — “If You Don’t Walk Me Home”
  • Mger Armenia — “Forever”
  • Nemra — “I’m a Liar”
  • Robert Koloyan — “Get Away with Us”
  • Tamar Kaprelian — “Poison (Ari Ari)”
  • Zhanna Davtyan — “Unbreakable”

Semi-final 2

Semi-final 2 features Depi Evratesil returnee Asmik Shiroyan. She will go up against Sevak Khanagyan who is also touted as one of the favourites to win the competition. Amaliya Margaryan and Maria’s Secret rounded out the Wiwi Jury’s Top 5 and will both also compete in the second semi-final. Drag queen Kamil will also perform in Semi-final 2 with the hotly anticipated “Puerto Rico”. The full line-up of the second semi-final is:

  • Alternativ — “Stare at Me”
  • Amaliya Margaryan — “Waiting for the Sun”
  • Arman Mesropyan — “What You Hide”
  • Asmik Shiroyan — “You and I”
  • Kamil Show — “Puerto Rico”
  • Maria’s Secret — “Escape”
  • Mariam — “Fade”
  • Sevak Khanagyan — “Qami”
  • Suren Poghosyan — “The Voice”
  • Tyom — “Follow the Ocean”

Yey for Sevak and Tamar being on separate semifinals. I want them both in the final.

Another oddly-arranged semi-final. Five are progressing from each so hopefully no big surprises and we don’t lose anyone good.

Look at that. An article about Armenia and of course armenians will include Azerbaijan on their discussions, too. They love us, don’t they?? hehe 😀

My favourite is “Qami” in this selection. But I also would be happy with Kamil just because… um, we need some funny entries in Eurovision, right? :p

So I do wish the same for you. Don’t worry for us, we’re pretty much happy and we enjoy watching how “democratic” your country is. 😀 Look, I’m 13. I don’t really care about all these political stuff you bring here all the time, nobody cares. It’s boring, why don’t you just have fun? Having fun is a good thing, maybe you will forget about your obsession with Azerbaijan, too. xD

Hi.

It’s so cute…you’re 13? My apologies, HONEY. Yes, you have no fault. You’re a mere kid and I will support you. Hopefully, your generation in both countries will live happily together.

It was heartwarming and so moving to read this. Sorry, sweetheart. You’re a sunshine.

This is an old method. This is what they did last year: They didn’t let many intresting singers like Asmik, Sona Dunoyan, Anna Danielyan etc to get to final and artificially forced Martha to compete with Artsvik. So when Artsvik won everyone was happy! Artsvik simply didn’t have concurent in the final! I do believe there still will be some surprises and some favorites to win won’t even qualify to final. I simply can’t understand one thing who of Kamil and Mger are “Martha” of this season! Maybe they both are! Just Imagine how people here will be happy when… Read more »

LMAO. This national final looks even more corrupt than Belarussian. They clearly do a favour to that Mger guy and they do not even try to hide it.

NO wonder, Armenia is in the same sinking boat as Belarus. They are both members of the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union. Corruption was the reason why the Soviet Union collapsed. Now it will lead to elimination of these countries. Especially Armenia is vulnerable, as Azerbaijani president declared his desire to conquer Yerevan a few days ago. Erdogan also tries to build a second Ottoman Empire. Let Armenia keep acting like that and it won’t see Armenia in this contest in a few years.

You’re trying to make accusations that the EEU increases corruption, yet Kazakhstan has one of the lowest GINIs in the world…

How many presidents Kazakhstan had after independence?

Steve

Kazakhstan is as much corrupted as the EEU other members. It’s another dictatorship like Russia and Azerbaijan who shut peopel’s mouth with money received from oil sale. Don’t look at Astana and Almaty, look at the rest of the country which is very poor. One president for 30 years it’s a bit too much.

Armenia and Belarus are ruled by dictators as well. There’s too much going on these countries. Don’t forget about them.

According to Freedom house Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine are Partly Free while Azerbaijan, Russia and Belarus are in the league “Not Free”. I think researchers know their job better than you do.

Armenia simply is Russia’s hostage because of war in Karabakh. Actually both Armenia and Azerbaijan are. But don’t forget that Armenia also just like Ukraine and Georgia signed partnership agreement with EU. Actually we seat on 2 chairs at the same time!

Seems the have divided the groups so that Mger can easily qualify. All of the favourites, except for Tamar are in Semi 2. So, I see that they play a dirty game. Mger has the First Lady’s support and he even dedicated a song to her. So, no surprise this brownose may sneak to the final.

Avat

Semi final will be good rehearsal for Tamar. It seems thar many people don’t imagine how dirty may play Mger. I hope International jury will kill his attempts to force his candidature. Gevorg Harutyunyan will receive big support from his home town Kapan and region I can see it from his FB promotion.
I wish this lineup for final :
Gata Band
Tamar Kaprelian
Nemra
Lusine Mardanyan
Robert Koloyan or Gevorg Harutyunyan
Sevak
Amalya
Mariam
Alternative
Kamil or Maria’s Secret or Asmik’s British song

It is not the best and it is still a not Armenian songs trying to represent Armenia. Term “best” is very subjective term actually. Maybe for you it is the best one . Good for you.

it is the best song. It dont need to be ethnic sounding to get a good result. Dont matter that the song writers are British, its better actually.

They are doing it in favour of Mger. They want him to win the contest as he’s supported by the First lady of Armenia.

Why do they have to support a person? They should hear the quality of the song and then show support! If they are hellbent on sending an artist do an internal selection …. Not a farce! We’ll see if international juries are included in this stupidity . all songs named forever are corrupt then!

it is the best one. One of the song writers on ivetas song ‘stephanie Crutchfield’ isnt armenian, you gonna hang her for that. armenian song writers or not, you and i is the best song.

Semi final 1 qualifiers should be – Poison, I’m A Liar, Get Away With Us, Stand Up, If You Don’t Walk Me Home

Semi final 2 qualifiers should be – The Voice, Waiting For the Sun, Qami, You and I, Escape

… but if Kamil really does a great show, I’ll get the qualification.

The semi-final 1 is clearly much weaker as three of the four favorites are in semi 2. So, unfortunately, we will probably have to hear Mger’s dreadful song in the final too.
