Tu canción

Spain’s sweethearts Amaia and Alfred may have just been thrown back to reality after three months inside an academy with no contact with the real world. However, these two don’t stop, and they have already recorded the final version and the music video for “Tu canción”!

RTVE has been teasing us with some footage from the upcoming video. In the images, Amaia and Alfred dance slowly, they sit on old armchairs while singing to each other, and they also get some solo shots.

“If the song already represented our relationship, the music video is going to do it even better”, says Alfred in the backstage. It looks like it’s going to follow the pattern they started at their performance on Tuesday: less is more, simplicity at its best.

They dance in front of a white background, and also stand next to each other on a spinning platform that ends up covered with autumn leaves. There’s also snow and a lot of lights.

But not everything in this music video is light. There are also some darker shots which show them kissing and running while holding hands. It’s sweet, sweet, sweet, y’all.

“Tu canción” has been re-recorded

Riding the OT momentum, RTVE has been giving fans lots of contents during the weekend. On Saturday, Amaia and Alfred were recording the final version of “Tu canción”.

The re-work hasn’t affected the structure of the song, but it adds some new elements. Amaia explains that there is a moment of silence which sounds beautiful. “It respects the original feel of the song, but now it sounds incredible. I almost started crying when I heard it”, she says.

The weekend has been busy for #Almaia. Not only they have recorded a music video and a new version of their entry, they have also started to look for their Eurovision outfits.

The people at RTVE explained in this video that they are going for a classy but youthful look, just like in the music video. However, Amaia doesn’t seem all convinced: “I want to doll up a bit, Eurovision is a unique opportunity!”.

Do you like the idea behind the “Tu canción” music video? Do you think their outfits suit them? How do you picture Amaia and Alfred on the stage in Lisbon? What do you expect from the music video? Tell us in the comment section below!

Beatiful song, beatiful couple, love is in , hate is out, absolute candidate to win

The problem is that they are doing too much.
“We love each other, look how we love each other, are you sure you’ve seen how much we love each other?”
Lots of love, tons of cute, and I add sugar ladles dripping. It’s too much. They lose all credibility.

It ‘s not necessary to do as much to believe. It’s not necessary to add to it to be touched in the heart. The real emotion is not made, when it’s sincere it’s obvious.

The fact is they are like you can see. Their story has touched a lot of spanish hearts. We have seen how their love grew up during three months. Believe me when I say they are not acting at all.
If you have three minutes take a look at this video:

I am from Spain and I totally agree. Its a beautifull song, they are amazing artists (she is sooo special) and they have so much chemistry that they can make magic on the stage in Lisbon; but the overdose of them singing the song and a bad staging in Lisbon can ruin it all, because it can look forced. That would be very sad because we will love to show Europe (and all the people who will watch ESC 2018) why we felt in love with Amaia. Seriously, she is amazing on a stage. And Alfred is a very talented… Read more »

I am from Spain, and this song is not my favourite but I appreciate very much the cuteness in it. I understand it may sound corny, it does for me, I like it much better Denmark. BUT, some comments are over the top, so unrespectful!!! They are great performers, it is a beautiful song, and if you don’t like it it’s perfectly OK, don’t root for it, but this hate???

I’m from Portugal and I will vote for this song. My favourite was the one that Alfred sang alone but this one is very sweet and they are great artists. Last year many people hated salvador too

I don’t understand all this hate. Bullying is reaching very dangerous levels. And that way of acting is a crime in my country. I don’t like three or four songs but I can’t imagine myself wishing the singers or the country all the worst things. Yes, they are a real couple. Yes, the song talks about their story. Yes, they don’t mind to show it as we all have seen their love growing in tv. That’s all. If you haters don’t have better arguments to show you don’t like the song, then you have serious mental problems. Anyway, keep on… Read more »

I’ve heard that independentism in Catalonia has issued an instruction to post hateful comments against Spain everywhere possible – including Eurovision. It’s sad, but it may well be that many of these haters are catalan. Politics again.

Let the lovebirds be. Have you ever experienced love at a young age?

And Alfred is 20 while Amaia is 19. They’re not exactly teenagers anymore.

But one thing we do know is that the minimum age for Eurovision is 16. 😉

Sweet song, I think it’s not going to win but deserves a good place, and about the haters. Last year many people hated amar pelos dois and Salvador Sobral and everybody knows what happened. Good luck Spain

I seriously don’t understand all these mean comments towards Spanish entry on this website. It’s like they have done something terrible. ._.

It’s a sweet ballad sung by two talented young singers who are in love. So what is the problem in this one? I mean, I understand that some fans do not want to hear more ballads in Eurovision, but somehow these spanish guys got extra hatred for no reason and it’s actually annoying.

How is everyone so pressed about Tu Canción? I understand that not everyone will like it and that is very cliche and cheesy, but wasting so much energy in hating such inocent song is really sad. ESC fandom needs to take it easy.

I must say, anyway, that I’m worried for them, they need to live their lives away from the greedy hands of TVE. Leave the kids alone, TVE.

Both of them should already eb udnergoing media training so they’d be prepared in the coming days ahead. Consideirng OT is essentially a bootcamp for neophyte singers, such training should have been made available there.

They did do some media training for all of the contestants in the week leading up to their Eurovision-selection show. Of course, I expect that training to be a lot more intensive for these two now.

I feel a bit sorry for the two tbh. I can’t imagine I would be with my boyfriend and some director was shouting at me things like “Now you must kiss! No, more passionately! Too much!” and “Not romantic enough! Try to look more dreamy at him!”. Not to mention thousands of people treating their relationship like public property… if their relationship survives past May then it’ll survive anything.

Then why do you feel so sorry for them?

West

Reply to  Matt

Because I can’t imagine having my relationship so public. Yes, I joked about it a little, but realize that all they’ll do in the video and what they’ll have as a final performance is and will be a rehearsed choreography that they don’t do because they just feel like it, but because it’s in the script. Would you like if someone was telling you how to act towards your significant other? That at this or that point you should hug, now look at each other lovingly and so on? I know I wouldn’t.

I hate to be such a spoilsport – but this whole ‘LOOK AT US, WE ARE IN LOVE’ thing just comes across as extremely exploitative to me. I don’t doubt that they are in the honeymoon phase of a relationship, but they sure do know how to milk every drop out of it. When they start to sing and they are looking into each others eyes, it just comes across as forced to me. You can sing with someone whom you are recently in love with without it having to be so contrived.
