Alexia & Matei win Romania's Selectia Nationala 2018 poll

We asked, you voted! Alexia & Matei are your favourite act to win Romania‘s Selectia Nationala 2018 grand final tonight. Will the fresh-faced duo be “Walking On Water” all the way to Lisbon?

After Ilinca and Alex won everything in Romania last year and finished seventh in Kyiv, it looks like our readers want Romania to send another girl/boy duo to Eurovision. This year, after more than 4,000 votes were cast in our poll, the winners are Alexia & Matei with their song “Walking On Water”.

Alexia & Matei got 1,290 votes — that’s just under 32%. “Walking On Water”, written by Mihai Alexandru — the same songwriter behind “Yodel It!”, did not fare quite as well on our Wiwi Jury.

There, it placed sixth with an average score of 6.92/10. But since the winner of Romania’s Selectia Nationala will be crowned by the viewers alone via televoting, Alexia Urtoi and Matei Iancu needn’t worry about any jury tonight!

Fans showered the two teenagers with praise after their live audition back in December. Their song “Walking On Water” has even got the music video treatment.

In second place in our poll we find the Wiwi Jury’s favourite Feli, who got 19.26% of the votes. Feli will sing a mixed version of “Buna de iubit” in the National Final. Taking the English verses from the translate version,
“Royalty”, she’ll perform the chorus in Romanian. Feli is also the odds-on favourite to win the Romanian selection.

Jukebox feat. Bella Santiago placed third in our poll with “Auzi cum bate”. They got 11.53% of the votes and it looks like they will put up a good fight tonight, after winning Semi-Final 2.

Rounding up the Top 5 are TIRI with “Desert de sentimente” (8.98%) and Xandra with “Try” (8.68%).

In the bottom three, we find rock band Echoes with “Mirror”, Italian duo Erminio Sinni & Tiziana Camelin with “All the Love Away”, and Moldovan singer VYROS with “La La La”.

Full results: Who should win Romania’s Selectia Nationala 2018?

The grand final of Selectia Nationala 2018 will start at 20:00 CET tonight and will be broadcast live on TVR 1, TVR International, TVR Moldova and online on TVR Plus. It will also be broadcast on the official YouTube channel of broadcaster TVR.

Selectia Nationala 2018 – National Final running order

1. Rafael & Friends – “We Are One”
2. TIRI – “Desert de sentimente”
3. Claudia Andas – “The One”
4. Echoes – “Mirror”

6. Eduard Santha – “Me som romales”

14. Erminio Sinni & Tiziana Camelin – “All the Love Away”
15. The Humans – “Goodbye”

The National Final show, hosted by Sala Polivalenta in Bucharest, will also feature performances by last year’s winner and this year’s jury member Ilinca Bacila, who will sing her latest single “Nu acum”, and by folk-rock group Alex Calancea Band, who will provide entertainment as the interval act.

At the end of the show, the winner will be crowned by 100% televote and will receive the honour of representing Romania at Eurovision 2018 in Portugal.

What do you think about the poll results? Do you agree that Alexia & Matei are the likely winners in Romania tonight? Let us know in the comments!

For everybody in Romania who is voting and is seeing this post: STOP VOTING FOR ALEXIA & MATEI. Thanks.
I mean the song might be ok for Junior Eurovision, but not even close for the big Eurovision. Way too amateurish.

Ok, we saw the first hundreds of points of the televoting, and these two were leading, followed by Feli and The Humans. I think a teenage fandom might get the victory for these two.

Hmmm, yes I see. I didn’t realise there were that many teenagers with phones in Romania who watched Eurovision. That’s news to me!

“Walking on water” – It was okay, but not perfect. The woman is a lot stronger vocally than the man, and the song itself is catchy but not as memorable as other songs. They obviously have a lotbof fans though, even in the arena.

“Auzi cum bate” – Love it live! Great staging and choreo. This is my favourite so far. 🙂

After all the *alleged* controversies, I think we can all settle with this winner – beautiful language, great melody, great voice, handsome man, combining traditional with unusual.

I think that people will see tonight that their obsession to see Feli first made a lot of them saying that this poll was rigged. In fact I’m pretty sure she is very overrated and she is faaar away from being a clearly winner tonight. In my opinion Jukebox has the first chance to win, I’ve said it earlier, Feli doesn’t have such a big fan base as many are saying. Three entries are fighting to win in my opinion: Jukebox, Feli and Eduarda Santha, I’d give Jukebox first chance.

Chill, you guys! They have a lot of promotion, they toured high schools in their hometown and probably shared this poll in groups and on their personal pages like crazy! Oh well, at least they win this poll, ’cause there’s almost no chance they’ll win the big thing ?

People, calm down, their colleagues from school didn’t have anything better to do. Let’s hope they won’t have the money to vote for them

Guys, just because the one you want to win didn’t win the poll doesn’t mean that it is rigged. I feel that is an insult to the wiwibloggs team. They spend hours making blog posts and videos for our enjoyment and all you can do is go and say they rigged their poll… Seriously the attitude I have seen from some fans in this years season in-particular is just horrid. Just last night I saw some horrible comments aimed at Melovin just because he beat Tayanna, that isn’t fair. Just because people have different opinions to you doesn’t mean you… Read more »

People say it’s rigged because many of their polls literally are rigged. It’s not their fault it’s the people here who think it’s okay to use multiple IPs to vote.

Romanian opinion: I feel absolutely nothing when they sing. No emotions, nothing. Everything about them is amateurish, and Alexia’s dress, or whatever this is, just awful
