The stakes are high, y’all! Everyone is curious to see which song will have the honour of representing Portugal on home turf. After two intense semi-finals (with a lot of drama behind the scenes), Festival da Canção 2018 will have its final in Guimarães this Sunday. But who should win the ticket to represent the Iberian nation?
Back in October, RTP announced the composers taking part in this years competition. Then, in January the 26 singers were announced. After the two semi-finals we found our 14 finalists, but only one will win the coveted prize.
We’ll be able to see them perform live this Sunday. But who should win? Listen to the 14 songs and vote for your favourites. As always, you can vote for as many songs as you like, but you can only vote once — so make it count!
“Sem Medo” – Rui David
“Mensageira” – Susana Travassos
“Sunset” – Peter Serrado

O Jardim – Cláudia Pascoal
It’s the real thing.
I will listen to it ever so often thinking of my dead brother.
O Jardim…. Please vote!
O Jardim or O Voo das Cegonhas! 🙂
3. “(sem titulo)” / “So Por Ela”
2. “O Jardim”
1. “Anda Estragar-me os Planos”. Surprised this unexpected little gem isn’t higher in bets.
My TOP:
1. O Jardim
2. Sem Titulo
3. Para Sorrir Eu Nao Preciso De Nada
4. O Voo Das Cegonhas
5. Sunset
6. Só Por Ela
I also like “Cançao do Fim” and I think it would be a good entry for Portugal, but unfortunately, is out of the NF.

So many comments about Festival da Canção! Three years ago this post would have like 5 comments (tops). I so proud that Portugal is still one of the only countries that mess things around and don’t send music that “everyone would like to hear, because it is suppose to be all about pop “.
We have probably the most competitive FC this year (despite all the drama around Diogo’s song), it will be a great show. The performance of the winner on ESC will be obviously debatable, it will always be a huge fuzzy question mark for any country
Why is O Jardim so short…It gets over in 2 mins!! These other songs are like 5 mins
Kris, all songs must not exceed 3 minutes, it’s a rule.
they’re all the same.. literally same instruments, same genre, same language, how does one differentiate between 26 salvabore copies 😛 might be seeing another austria 2015
Ignorance…
boring….
Feeling is not boring.
The proof that you didn’t listen to the songs and rely on ignorance and stupidity.
With that “Salvabore” remark, you made pretty clear how unbiased you are…not.
…This…is what music in Portugal normally and traditionally sounds like
This is THEIR genre
Every artist here is making music that honors that kind of music. the songs here are just…very PORTUGUESE
Way to insult an entire aspect of their culture….u didn’t need to be a snot about it
NOT ALL ABBORD! Without Diogo i don’t fell voting. Festival is not complete… It was not my favorite anyway but is not fair.
I like “Voo das Cegonhas”…
Dear Wiwiblogs.Diogo withdraw but the song Mensageira by Susana Travassos(8 th place in 2nd semifinal)will replace diogo´s song (rtp make a statement about that)so you can add her in the poll thanks.
That was unexpected. I actually liked that song a lot. I’m glad she finds a spot in the final.
But I can’t add her to my vote since I cast my vote before Diogo’s withdrawal. :/
all in for o jardim
total Agree!!
Btw, Piçarra has just withdrawn from Festival da Canção, so one less thing for people to complain about… or not 😉
Wow, that’s so honorable of him. Respect! I wish him the best for the rest of his life.
Wow! It’s a shame, as his song would’ve been a great entry, but it’s an honorable thing to do.
Wait what’s your source?
Every newspaper in Portugal and Diogo’s own Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/diogopicarra/photos/a.521095881300664.1073741825.216162355127353/1643875749022666/?type=3&theater
Well, I agree with you guys, and like he said in his publication, everything that happened around his entry was not music anymore. Therefore, his participation no longer made sense because it would never be solely about music.
Either “O jardim” by Cláudia Pascoal or “(Sem título)” by Janeiro should be the frontrunners now.
I’m happy that he did it. Not because I care about the song being original or not, but because the song is nothing special and now there’s a chance that something different can win
I really hope Portugal choses “O Jardim”, this song touch all my feelings. My heart is with “O Jardim”.
I see that number of votes for Diogo decreased dramatically after the incident, it turned out quite lower than expected. And it’s how it should be actually. My personal favorite is O jardim. I think it’s better than anything that we heard in FdC, it’s even better than most of the chosen entries so far but of course it’s my personal opinion. Honorable mentions would be Janeiro, Lili and Catarina Miranda. I quite like Diogo’s song as well. I feel sorry on his behalf after what happened recently but I would feel even sorrier for Portugal if he wins. It… Read more »
By the way, I don’t agree with most of the people here saying FdC is boring this year. Actually I enjoyed majority of the songs. Portugal is not afraid to show its true colors and unique identity.
My favourite is Diogo Picarra. I think that it’s a very good national final with some quality music. But of course the SAME people are going to bless us with their negative comments as they always do. I’m not even mad.
Eurovision is not just about pop music. I am sure there will be songs for your taste, too. But do not expect all the countries to send the same kind of songs just because you like them, please. That’s ignorant.
The amount of negativity on the comment section of this website and most Youtube videos related to Eurovision is becoming unbereable… It’s one thing to celebrate the plurality of opinions, it’s another just talking trash just because. It hurts the spirit of Eurovision, tires the format and pushes away people. About Festival da Canção, I think it’s one of our strongest years this century, even though we don’t have another Salvador, the average quality of the songs in the final is much better than in previous years. Would be happy with Diogo Piçarra, Cláudia Pascoal, Catarina Miranda or Janeiro. Not… Read more »
I totally agree with you (on the first part of your comment anyway, I do not follow Festival da Canção).
Why can’t people understand that there is no such thing as bad music? Sure, you may dislike a song very much, but there will always be others who do like it, even songs like Spirit of the Night have their fans. Just enjoy the music you like, and let others enjoy their favourite songs. There’s no need to agree with or understand someone else’s opinion, just respect them. Is that really so hard?
Personally, I’m really tired of people ragging on Portugal for their sound. You guys, that’s just their national sound. Whenever they or another country with a very specific sound (France, Turkey, Israel) try too hard to fit the Eurovision mold, we all suffer. Individuality is important and keeps the contest interesting. It can’t all be generic schlager, variety is the spice of life.
Also Diogo ftw controversy or not. I think it’s all a lot of crap.
Diogo and Janeiro are just <3 <3 <3
I can't decide, any of them would be in my Top 3
Voted for “Para Sorrir Eu Não Preciso de Nada” and “O Jardim”.
Amar Pelos Días
We all know (from twitter) that Bernardo really really wants us to pick a song with great lyrics suchs as: “Podem fazer muros, Mas não tapam a alma” lol (much strung, very wow, cuz you know, war and Syria?? o.O). O Jardim it´s actually a good song, modern, with good lyrics, and a good voice (Diogo also has it). Tbh I can´t see other result in the final then Diogo winning, feelsbadman :/
Diogo Piçarra or Peu Madureira! They were the best entry in their semifinal!
Diogo for the win!!!
My most hated Eurovision country. Sorry. Take Diogo, the man of the big plagiarism.
the greatest is always the most hated.
Then I recommend you don’t the see the ESC, because in case you haven’t noticed, it will take place in Portugal. So you are going to see a lot of it
My top 5
1. Lili – O Voo das Cegonhas
2. Janeiro – (sem título)
2. Peu Madureira – Só Por Ela
2. Catarina Miranda – Para Sorrir Eu Não Preciso de Nada
2. Cláudia Pascoal – “O Jardim”
YES! I love O Voo too, the trouble is it’s productyin is TERRIBLE, I’m getting Ha Um Mar vibes, when I hoped the production was just a demo or studio orchestra but nope, it was final 🙁
Anyway out of the songs that actually I have any hope, I hope for O Jardim.
“Voo das Cegonhas” – Lili should win 🙂
After the beauty of Salvador, Portugal subjected to international shame.
Hear the beauty of O Voo das Cegonhas…strange and ethereal voice, electronic ( underrated kind of music) and a poem beyond words…
OMG. So many good songs! My favorites: Joana, Peu, Lili and maybe Catarina.
Diogo is out… After the scandal.
Never in life will the ESC jury vote for a blatant copy of a religious song. Poor Piçarra.
People prefer the faithful anthem COPY of a religious sect, to all the original songs … This says a lot about the fanaticism and childishness of the followers of an idol. How disgusting.
Smart people dont believe fairy tales.
Nothing original about Catarina’s song, which is a bad copy of MY way- Frank Sinatra.
AND LOL at you mentioning the followers of an idol. 90% of THE festivals audience are old people, that will vote for Peu, that’s also fanaticism, ya twat.
Don’t forget all the fangirls of Carolina(pop/indie idol) , her husband wrote Peu’s song and he will certainly get votes because of her publicity.
The audience is mostly overaged, so teens dont have a chance even if they wanted to. Nice try tho.
Very true. The fans (especially school girls) will vote for him, no matter how poor the song is lyrically and melodically.
Maria just like all the grandmas and grandpas will vote for the boring PEU Só por ela song. Or with the jury favoring him, which will help. But it wouldnt be convenient for ya to mention that, would it? 😉
Oh, not to mention the fans of Sobral votes going to Janeiro and Catarina.
I listened to like four and got tired, but among those I’ve heard O jardim was easily the worst. From the girl’s wig to her telenovela performance, it didn’t take long for me to cringe. I’m surprised to see she’s among the favorites.
It’s not a wig.
Telenovela performance?
lmao ‘telenovela performance’ that’s not really portugal’s thing dude
She was doing too much out of that borefest.
you mean, like Polina did in 2015, right?
I suppose you still have a grandma.
they are all boring af and sound the same
give me some fastfood music!111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
need boom boom and scream
Stop sounding like a baby. It’s not cute.
Here you have it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dikqvvx4jq4
Lili or Claudia. IMO the rest is bad..
1. O Jardim; 2. O Jardim: 3. O Jardim. I am obsessed with that song. I really whish it would win the FdC. It would be a very nice follow-up of Salvador, because it would be the most different of all the good songs (Patiti Patatá doesn’t count, that is a joke entry), but still in the same vein. Janeiro, Diogo, Catarina and Joana all have very good songs, but indeed they are following Salvador’s footsteps to closely. Peu is, of course, the danger. The song is objectively a very good one, but IMO it would not make a good… Read more »
We share the same thoughts and the same obsession: I cannot stop listening to O jardim.
😉
O Jardim is also my favourite but I have to admit “Sunset” by Peter Serrado is growing a lot on me, everyday. It will never happen but if, by miracle, it won the final I would be very happy for it to represent my country, despite the language.
Peter Serrado only! Such a snoozefest, one thing is to send a quality ballad and another is trying to emulate the same formula all over again
That is exactly what O Jardim is, a quality ballad that is not trying to emulate the same formula.
He’s spanish, which is ironic because spain is copying portugals formula.
Diogo is the obvious winner. It can give another Top 5 result to Portugal.
1: voo das cegonhas
2: o jardim
3: cancao do fim ( i’d rather see portugal choose something more different from last year though)
As much as I was a fan of Portugal’s winning song last year, look at what’s has happened as a consequence…….Salvador, look at what you’re responsible for!!
14 songs of the exact same genre……you wouldn’t need tranquilizers to help you sleep….just listen to this internal selection
No diversity at all……I would hate to have to be a correspondent at this national final!!
At a push, I’d go for Peter Serrado…..but only if you forced me!!
Nope, there are a lot of different genres.
I understand that Portugal won with a ballad but there are only ballads this year. Kinda boring ! Even though I don’t like the song, Patati Patata is the only song that stand out.
Diogo Piçarra or Cláudia Pascoal for me
I don’t have a clear favorite. Everyone try to be the next Salvador and subsequently none sticks out.
Tries*
Comme si Salvador Sobral avait inventé les musiques …. “lente” au Portugal
DIOGO PIÇARRA with “CANÇÃO DO FIM”!! That is my favourite song of the whole season. I so need that in Eurovision. Please, Portugal make it happen!!
I agree with you. “CANÇÃO DO FIM” is one of the songs to beat this season.
DIOGO PIÇARRA performance is magical. Wow!!!!
I personally think “Patati Patata” is funny. 🙂
There’s a song called that? It’s totally copied from a chips commercial in Italy, mess.
LOOOOOOL patati patata is from a TV show of like 15 years ago in Portugal. Wake up
