All good things must come to an end. Next Saturday, Melodifestivalen, the national selection for Sweden at Eurovision 2018, will host the grand final in Stockholm. Shortly after the Andra Chansen show on March 3rd, SVT and Christer Björkman took to Twitter to reveal the final running order for next weeks show.

As per usual, SVT have mixed up genres to create an interesting final, but does it reveal any favourites?

Andra Chansen duel winner Mendez will open the show with his song “Everyday”, complete with his sexy backing dancers and just a tiny dash of pyrotechnics. The entry is high energy and fun, and a great way to open the show.

Continuing the high energy will be another Andra Chansen qualifier in Renaida and her song “All The Feels”. She’ll be bringing that swag and energy to Stockholm hoping to get that ticket to Lisbon.

Following that we have a string of direct qualifiers, in Martin Almgren with “A Bitter Lullaby”, John Lundvik with “My Turn”, Jessica Andersson with “Party Voice”, LIAMOO with “Last Breath”, Samir and Viktor with “Shuffla” and Mariette with “For You”. You can see that it’s a nice blend of ballads, slower tempo songs and more energetic tracks.

Rounding out the show will be our other two Andra Chansen qualifiers, Felix Sandman with “Every Single Day” and Margaret with “In My Cabana”. Since their qualification into the final, the two have been hotly tipped by fans to do very well in the final, and SVT are on board and have given the two great spots in the running order.

The hot favourite to win the competition is Benjamin Ingrosso with his song “Dance You Off”, and SVT have thrown him a bone by slotting him in at 11th. The uptempo, radio friendly song paired with a solid stage performance was already a great combination, but having him this late in the show could swing some extra votes his way and book his ticket to Lisbon.

Closing the show is the undisputed novelty act of Melodifestivalen 2018, Rolandz with “Fuldans”. Will the last spot in the running order prove successful for this silver sequinned fantasy? We’ll have to wait and see.

MELODIFESTIVALEN 2018 FINAL: RUNNING ORDER

  1. Mendez with “Everyday”
  2. Renaida with “All The Feels”
  3. Martin Almgren with “A Bitter Lullaby”

  5. Jessica Andersson with “Party Voice”
  6. LIAMOO with “Last Breath”
  7. Samir and Viktor with “Shuffla”
  8. Mariette with “For You”
  9. Felix Sandman with “Every Single Day”
  10. Margaret with “In My Cabana”
  11. Benjamin Ingrosso with “Dance You Off”

What do you make of the running order? When is your favourite singing? Let us know in the comments!

To some of you below… Renaida in the final is an absolute mistake – there is no chance she can win and I would take Mimi Werner over her anytime. She is uninteresting, lacks charisma and has unmemorable vocals in her poor imitation of a radio hit.
In my opinion Benjamin and Mariette would flop in Lisbon – I don’t get any if this hype. Liamoo’s rapping is embarrassing.
The only potential contended for Lisbon is Felix but hey it’s just my opinion!

Im thinking it’s more likely it follows Hasse and ends in top 5 than last. It’s a Swedish thing

It’s going to be make or break for Sweden this year. Mariette has the best song, she deserves to go, together with Benjamin and Felix either one of these will give a top 10 place in Lisbon. Liamoo is a gamble, it is border line non qualifier, Jessica is non qualifier. Anything in Swedish will be a non qualifier, but i wont be suprised if the winner is Shuffla.. Rolandz or Mendez. Bless Mendez he has the worst vocals, but like the Polish song this year, its really catchy when listening to the studio version. The Swedish public will score… Read more »

I like Mariette and would love to see her at Eurovision, and while For You is a good song, it’s beneath her. I hope she doesn’t win so she can return with a better song. I’m also hoping Benjamin doesn’t win (because I find him and his song infuriating). I think Sweden should go for something more fun, because they’ve built up a great track record that I think any of these songs will find hard to follow, so I think Shuffla should win. Go Samir och Viktor! 🙂

I think Benjamin will win but I’d rather Felix. His song to me is the best by a lot. Then 2nd would be Mariette, 3rd Liamoo, 4th Benjamin and 5th would be Jessica and Martin. Renaida is fine too I guess. They weeded out a lot of the bad ones but it wasn’t enough to get rid of S&V, Mendez and Rolandz. Wish Stark, Cry, Patrick Swayze, Mitt Paradis (mainly those 4), Solen Lever Kvar Hos Dig, Osby Tennessee, Titta Vi Flyger, Icarus, or even Cuba Libre over anyone of them.

From a Lisbon perspective…

Potential last places:
Jessica Andersson (the singer, the song, the act, it doesn’t make any sense at all)
John Lundvik (will go completely unnoticed)

Potential qualifiers:
Martin Almgren (the mommy vote)
LIAMOO (the young vote)
Margaret (the Polish vote)
Mariette (the quality vote)

Potential top 5 finishers:
Felix (contemporary classic, good looking guy, catchy song)
Benjamin (amazing act, hot guy, catchy song)

Surprised that odds are still favoring Benjamin, but that’s for good. 11th spot though and a little war between male pop pool afterwards if he’ll take trophy.

Send something fun this year Sweden, like Samir och Victor. Jessica Andersson or Margaret would also be fun choices.

If it has to be something ‘heavier’, than I’d be happy with Felix.

The ones who are performing around the middle likely received the highest votes in their respective semi finals. The ones who perform near the end are usually the ones that have big production.

I hope we send Felix or Benjamin to Lisbon. The others are irrelevant.

Samir & Viktor can’t sing live, I don’t even want to imagine the car crash at ESC. Mariette’s song is so beneath her, it’s truly awful.

I think Christer thinks Felix or Benjamin might be the best bet for Lisbon. Young, easy on the eyes, current, radio-friendly…it seems what Sweden does now all the time. I will say that this has not been a banner year for Sweden, but after seeing the Polish and the Icelandic finals, I think Sweden has nothing to worry about in terms of being competitive. What Sweden lacks is just a game changer like Loreen was…everything just feels safe and generic. I like S&V this year actually, but one thing we can count on is that neither the international juries nor… Read more »

@Charles Oh calm down, we don’t actually have any good party songs at this moment, why not this one then? It’s not a joke entry anyways, songs can be entertaining too you know. UK, Finland, Cyprus and now Azerbaijan are not party songs, just generic pop.
Take a moment and look through the official entries, we have ethnic, country, metal, pop, rock, opera, ballad etc.. but no party song. This year we have much more different genres, it’s better than to have only two seas called pop and ballad.

Vocals don’t seem to be all that important if you look at some entries placing high in Eurovision over the years. Dima Bilan, Eric Saade, Verka, The Russian grannies etc.. Sometimes charm and to do something that keeps your memory alive is enough.

It’s definitely between Benjamin, LIAMOO and Felix to win. Why Margaret got the 10th slot is beyond me since she isn’t a favorite to win.
Samir&Viktor might have a chance to win to. I hope they Shuffla their way to lisbon somehow lmao. Plus we haven’t had a fun winner since Lena phillipsson back in 2004

Song 6- 11 is where a winner is to be found. The rest shouldn’t bother. Speculate about numbers? Måns had nr 6, so LIAMOO next? Frans had nr 10. So Margaret next? Ingrosso has same position as last year. Lucky number? Wiktoria, Nano and now Sandman number 9? So Viewer favourite but not Winner? Hasse, Owe and now Rolandz number 12. Keep the fun up It’s fun speculating. I predict it will be one of the boys who will get it. Ingrosso, Liam or Sandman. I wish for Sandman but like all 3. Mariette not so much. She couldn’t win… Read more »
