Melodifestivalen 2018 Andra Chansen

Thus far in Melodifestivalen 2018 eight acts have qualified direct to the final, twelve acts have been eliminated and eight more are hanging on for dear life. The last group will sing-it-out for survival tonight at Andra Chansen in Kristianstad.

Last week, right after the fourth semi-final finished, SVT revealed the four duels for the Second Chance round. The winner of each duel will go on to compete in the final.

We asked y’all to vote for your favourites in each duel, and the results are in.

DUEL 1: MARGARET VS. MONCHO

Of the four duels, this is by far the most one-sided — at least in your opinion. A firm fan favourite ever since her 2016 entry in Poland’s selection, Margaret romped to victory. “In My Cabana” took in 3,273 votes. Meanwhile, Moncho had to make do with just 292 votes.

  1. Margaret 91.81% (3,273 votes)
  2. Moncho 8.19% (292 votes)

Total Votes: 3,565
Looking elsewhere, last night’s audience poll gives the edge to Moncho. However, the Swedish singles charts suggest Margaret could take victory.

DUEL 2: RENAIDA VS. OLIVIA ELIASSON

As with the first duel, there was a clear favourite with our readers — Renaida. The “All The Feels” popstar took home 2,495 votes. Rival Olivia Eliasson could only get 614 votes.

  1. Renaida 80.25% (2,495 votes)
  2. Olivia Eliasson 19.75% (614 votes)

Total Votes: 3,109

The Swedish audience appears to be in agreement with our readers, although Olivia is out-performing Renaida in the charts.

DUEL 3:  FELIX SANDMAN VS. MIMI WERNER

Things were a bit tighter in Duel 3. Nonetheless, FELIX SANDMAN secured a relatively convincing win over Mimi Werner. He picked up 1,892 votes compared to her 1,216 votes.

  1. Felix Sandman 60.88% (1,892 votes)
  2. Mimi Werner 39.12% (1,216 votes)

Total Votes: 3,108

The audience poll and charts also predict a victory for FELIX.

DUEL 4: SIGRID BERNSON VS. MENDEZ

The fourth and final duel was by far the tightest. However, Sigrid Bernson just pipped Mendez to the post by a margin of less than 70 votes. The “Patrick Swayze” fan took in 1,577 votes while the “Everyday” rapper received 1,504.

  1. Sigrid Bernson 51.18% (1,577 votes)
  2. Mendez 48.82% (1,504 votes)

Total Votes: 3,081

However, both the audience poll and the charts predict that Mendez will walk away with the win. In fact, Mendez is the highest charting Melfest 2018 entry on this week’s Swedish Top 100.

The four duel victors will progress to the Melodifestivalen 2018 grand final in Stockholm. There they’ll be joined by the eight direct finalists — John Lundvik, Benjamin Ingrosso, Samir & Viktor, LIAMOO,  Martin Almgren, Jessica Andersson, Mariette, and Rolandz.

Then, of the 12, one will be chosen to represent Sweden at Eurovision 2018.

I get why its close between sigrid and mendez, both fun uptempo songs, but here’s the thing. Sigrid vocals aren’t that great, but those from mendez are just bad, but most of the time you don’t hear that because of the backing track, so I think sigrid should win.

that duel is the worst because we have to choose between two artists who cant sing.. couldnt care less about who wins that one

I would swap Sigrid with Mendez. And I’m still not convinced about Felix. Mimi’s song isn’t that bad. Felix could “do a Loreen”. If I’m not mistaken Loreen was third with the audience poll last year just as Felix was yesterday.
