Dreams do come true for some people, and in Yianna Terzi’s case, she’s representing Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest. “Óneiró mou” (My Dream) has won her a new fanbase. And rightly so: It’s an enchanting and polished ethnic ballad, and most importantly of all, it hasn’t been disqualified. For all those excited Grecophiles, we have good news – Yianna has released the music video for her entry. More Greek ethnic realness is coming up right now.

Like the song, the video is full of Greek charm and dreaminess. Yianna sings passionately, while dressed in a white robe and trapped in a black room. Meanwhile, an unknown man in ragged clothes chases something across some gorgeous Greek mountains. In the end, the man begins anxiously digging a hole in the ground. He reaches down, grabs onto Yianna’s arm, and pulls her up. Romantic! The video is very well-shot, giving much focus to the luscious Greek landscape, and smacks of tender feelings and artistry. It complements the ethnic but also incredibly romantic and passionate song well. Simple but effective.

Yianna Terzi – “Óneiró mou”

Yianna released the video through social media with the simple message “Good luck to us”. Needless to say, social media is very happy with the result. Much has been said of the scenery, which is definitely the focal point of this video.

It perhaps gives us some insight into how this song will be staged. Wonderful ethnic music combined with the stunning scenery is hard to resist, so count us in.

After four years of lacklustre results, Greece are looking to return to their glory years of constant Top 10 placings. Whether Yianna Terzi will be the answer remains to be seen. But with this kind of momentum and style, Greece are definitely on the right path this year.

So what do you think? Do you like Yianna Terzi’s video? Do you think that Greece has a chance for a Top 10 placing this year? Let us know below!

English Lyrics for Oneiro Mou / *My Dream* 1st Stanza (Greece/Country): If you’ll explore my deep sea, you’ll make my dream come true. And if you look into my heart, I’ll take you into my arms. Chorus (Greeks/Citizens): How do you want me to tell you that I would die for you? I would give my life for you! The end and the beginning, you’re everything to me. No matter how much would I suffer, I wouldn’t erase you off the map. I would give my life for you! The end and the beginning, you’re everything to me. 2nd Stanza… Read more »

WOW! Even better now. And most of all, with no trace of perilous na(z)ionalism!

Best of luck, Greece! A brave song <3

The lyrics are very good but their passionate and explosive tone seems to conflict with the more restrained music and vocals. Not a major issue but there is some dissonance.

Also I like how this is a patriotic appeal that isn’t xenophobic and racist.

The message of this song is absolutely amazing. The desperate greek man tries to feel,to hear,to find Greece so he can remember his past, his history.Greece on the other hand calls greeks in order to save her from the dark and greeks are ready to sacrifice themselves for their country. The greek man in the end, tired and exhausted finally finds Greece and releases her from the dark. She is standing next to him and he understands how much Greece loves her people and both discover how strong they can be together.

This song probably has the widest possible range of outcomes of any song I’ve heard so far, this year. I liked the studio track release, and I love this video, but I can see a live performance doing anything from crashing in the Semi to power-charging into the Top Five. (Ukraine also has a wide range, but the up-tempo rocking is less likely to crash out on the low end.) Best of luck to Yianna in getting it the staging story it needs to come alive in Lisbon. But even if it doesn’t come together there, kudos to Greece for… Read more »

I would say quite the opposite. This year Greec has a very limited range of outcomes, from places 1 to 5. It is magical, it is epic, and it is very greek in a sea of bland generic silly songs. It is definitely one of the 3-4 songs that can win, till now.

This song is really beautiful, I don’t understand the lyrics, but the Greek language is a pleasure for the ears. “Oneiro Mou” is growing on me and it slighly reminds me of Edurne’s “Amanecer”. The music video looks awesome too. The staging and the live performance will determine its placing.

What a beautiful video! I was stunned!
I think they put the meaning of the song into the music video. What I understood is that Gianna represents Greece and the man represents greeks. He’s looking for his roots, he finds “Greece” buried under the greek land and he helps her stand up again! I like our song more now!

I absolutely love it!

I wait to see live performance of song. She don t have strong vocal when sing live. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3Ht4c1tvRk
I think Greece and Cyprus will have similar result like in 2012 , both out of TOP 15 because live vocal.

LOL !I think fans , who write comments like this one , are finally annoying ….I personally feel happy to see people supporting their country’s song!Where’s the problem to see happy people ?! I am bored with comments like: Italian fans are annoying ,Spanish fans are annoying.. Enough!every year the same !If you don’t have something to write about the song (good or bad , all the opinions are of course accepted),then don’t write anything else ,especially if it is offensive for one country’s people! P.S. ; greek fans are ussually too judgemental with their song .This is the first… Read more »

Woah you wrote so much and said nothing. Dont be triggered.

firstly, im not even a fan and secondly, there’s a difference between supporting your country, being respectful to praising your entry while insulting every entry from other countries.

Im talking about the comments i see, not only here but on youtube, it’s not my imagination. And if by positive you mean ‘ hateful’ then sure.

I think that you didn’t understand my comment ’cause you are writing the same things with other words! I haven’t seen these type of comments neither on YouTube neither here (especially on wiwibloggs the most comments are from foreigners).. And there are people from all the countries who are insulting other countries’songs but they are not so many.. You must try too much to find these type of comments!how much time do you have to read all the comments?! Wow? And of course if someone write hateful comments like yours under a country’s song, then I think that people have… Read more »

So true… I’ve seen a comment under our video from a foreigner (I see no reason to point fingers so I won’t mention their country) saying that our song is disgusting and everyone should vote for their song instead. I was so pleased to see that fellow Greeks handled that with relative patience.

The action in the video is simple, but the concept is POWERFULL! An embattled Greek (who could also be a citizen of any other country) struggles to “find” his (economically, politically, socially etc.) “captive” country, while he’s emotionally called to the place she’s “buried” underground, and help her get free and strong again. That’s what the lyrics were originally intended to mean. Although it could be interpreted as a love song, tt’s, after all, a metaphorical patriotic one.

An epic song that combines past and present, focuses on the real problems of the people that it represents and touches even those of us who are not Greeks. A unique song in this year’s ESC, a masterpiece. Greece deserves to win.

When I listened to the audio version, I liked it but remained aloof. I didn’t want to fall into the melancholy trap. Plus, I didn’t know what it is about. I still don’t, but from the video version I can see a lot of effort has been put into making a great metaphore.
The sound is certainly evocative and the production powerful. I expect and hope it will do well!

I appreciate the symbolism behind the music video but I don’t think it reaches the same level of awesomeness of the song.
Still one of the best song this year. I wouldn’t surprise if it wins the whole thing. Good luck Greece!

The song had already captivated me, now the video gave me all the feels of the pride and love one has for their country. The pain and anguish you feel when you see your country and people suffer. I am not Greek, I’m Puerto Rican and this video made me cry because we are going through very tough times and we are feeling the same as the Greeks are. What a beautiful and exquisite metaphor and homage to Greece. This is my number one for this year’s contest. Wishing the best for Greece and may they find their way back… Read more »

Dimitris Vlachos (the model representing the greek people) is running across a torched and barren landscape that symbolises Greece’s actual economic and social condition. Yanna/Greece is buried underground and is seen singing only during the verses (the song is a dialogue with Greece addressing her grievances to the people in the verses and the people responding and promising their devotion in the chorus). It is her way of calling out to him. He struggles to get to the top of the mountain and is frantically digging with his bare hands to set her free. She grabs his arm emerges in… Read more »

She is supposed to be the spirit of Greece. The man feels torn and lost. He is trying to find his roots again, the meaning of being greek, the warmth of his land and to bring light to his soul. It’s not a typical love song. It’s more of a metaphore. The singer symbolizes the pure greek land/greek spirit that will always be there and will never ‘betray’ its people. Well, something like that.

Well, it seems like Yianna represents “Greece” as a concept, while the man seems to represent “the Greeks”. The man seems to be looking for Greece, and he doesn’t stop until he rescues (?) her from the depth. That’s what I guessed in the music video.

Not the best music video of this year but the song is still in my top 5. Good luck Greece
