Armenia, Sevak Khanagyan, 2

Back in February he stormed to victory at Depi Evratesil — Armenia’s national selection for Eurovision — with his authentic, Armenian-language ballad “Qami” (Wind).

And now Sevak Khanaghyan blows into our consciousness once more with a teaser for his official music video, which will hit YouTube on March 21.

The 26-second video shows him standing atop an outcrop of rock overlooking a stunning vista. Naturally the wind is blowing and our guy is flowing — arms spread and feeling the force of nature around him.

Sevak, who confirmed to us in an interview moments after winning that he’ll keep his song in Armenian, had an intense series of appearances in Yerevan following his win on February 26.

The very next day he appeared on “Good Morning” — AMPTV’s flagship breakfast programme — and hours later he filmed a special episode of “Let’s Talk About” — another high-profile show. Producers devoted the entire episode to him.

I had the pleasure of being among the guests — which included Eurovision 2017 star Artsvik and Depi Evratesil host and TV personality Gohar Gasparyan, among others — to sing his praises.

He spent the next several days in intense discussions with AMPTV’s creative team, planning the music video, his staging for Lisbon and more. The Voice of Armenia judge also found the time to reprise his song at a special post-Depi Evratesil gathering at the TV station.

Our post-show interview with Sevak will be published this week.

But you can already watch our pre-show interview with the X Factor Ukraine winner below.

“I chose an Armenian song because I think Eurovision is a competition where every single country must represent his country’s culture,” he said of his song.

“The song is about warm feelings and you can throw back to your warm feelings and feel the energy of the past. I don’t think you have to understand the language to feel the song. Music has no language.”

Is it difficult for him to criticise other artists as a judge on The Voice?

“I don’t like competitions because I don’t like to judge any artists,” he says. “Everyone has their own opinion, their own feelings about the music and I don’t like to judge artists or their future.”

His message for Europe — and all of his new fans — is simple: “I want to ask everyone to be sincere and be kind to other people all over the world.”

Armenia delivers with their staging. I wouldn’t put this out until we see the final staging. This will also do well with the juries since Sevak has great lungs apparently.

Honestly, I didn’t like Aram MP3 staging. But he got 4th place. All depends on the Government, how much money they ready to spend in order to be top 5. On the other hand I really want Armenia to be in top 3 one day , as Moldova reached 3d place last year.

It’s a good song, I really like it. But I just can’t imagine somebody picking up the phone and voting for it. There’s a BIG possibility that it’s going to be their second NQ.

Ikr. This is kind of like last year’s “Blackbird”. Everyone knew it deserved to be in the final, but few people actually voted for it. There’s just something missing.

Most of Eurofans have strange music tastes in the last few years , some part of them like trash with no sense, others like cheap songs and no-one like ballads. And now, I have a question – How Salvador won the contest? Hah, why are you all voted for Salvador, as he “wasn’t your favorite”?

Salvador WAS my favorite and I voted for him more than five times in the final, please!!

Because it’s not only up to the Eurofans.

CAN’T WAIT! Even though I’m a little afraid how things will go in Lisbon give that it’s a very tough semi-final and first ever full Armenian language song, I have full faith in Sevak and AMPTV’s creative team. The stagings of the past 2 years have been nothing short of AMAZING

I mean, it’s not a bad song, but I am not sure if it’s good enough for qualification. And now they added rock elements to the song, let’s see how’s that gonna be like.
