OGAE Czech Republic is the fourth fan club to deliver their points for the 2018 OGAE Poll. Their 43 members are in agreement with OGAEs Belarus, France and Spain, awarding their top points to Israel. The Czech Republic have also put Spain on the leaderboard with six points.

The Czech Republic’s top three have also featured in the voting of previous OGAE clubs. Twelve points went to Israel, with Netta’s “Toy” continuing to dominate the 2018 poll. Ten points went to Cyprus, with Eleni Fouriera’s fiery “Fuego”, while Czechia’s eight points went to France‘s Madame Monsieur with “Mercy”.

The Czech Republic also gave six points to Spain, ensuring Amaia y Alfred a place on the overall scoreboard. The rest of the Czech points went to Estonia, Denmark, Australia, Finland, Belgium and Greece, all of which are already on the overall scoreboard.

On the overall scoreboard, the top three is staying strong. Israel, France and Finland hold the top three places. With OGAE Czech Republic unable to vote for itself, Mikolas Josef has slipped from fifth to eighth place.

Twenty six countries are yet to receive any points from OGAE clubs, but with more than half the OGAE clubs still left to vote, anything could happen.

And remember: the OGAE poll is not considered an accurate prediction of eventual Eurovision results. Rather, it’s an interesting indication of what OGAE members favour and which entries may appeal to various Eurovision fans.

Denmark and Greece are underrated and Australia is so overrated. Sorry, but they don’t deserve top 10. If it would be San Marino everybody would ignore this song, but since it’s Australia it is ranked high. I enjoyed their first two songs in the contest, but this year it’s horrible!

Enough with your Australia bashing comments. They’re hyped because they deserve it. Last year people hated their song and they didn’t even get a good position in Ogae or in any poll. So, just tell me how the name of “Australia” affect the ranking?

By 4th-6th may it’s the time when you see the full package of every song, songs are elevated to their maximum potential (if teams nail stagings)

Israel sure has a legion behind them, but they have to live to the expectations as every other song by the time the final staging is revealed if they want to “buy” every single vote of them.

First i have to say that i love music, and music is my life.I love Eurovision because of the music and the amazing shows,i’m not a fanatic and for me it’s not tyat important who win,and i like the songs not the countries. So I didn’t like Israel this year and i also didn’t understand such a fuss about it,but Know it’s growing on me day by day,and i’m really worried because like Salvador i use to enjoy real music and not fireworks, but still i also like Portugal(0 points from ogae so far),Belgium,Spain,Estonia,The Netherlands,Cyprus,Macedonia,Bulgaria and Sweden.Norway,Czech Republic,Finalnd and Australia are my guilty… Read more »

I can’t understand all that hype for Israel… I know, tastes are different, but why everyone seems to love it is a mystery for me… I would be really disappointed if that song won. Only the final performance can change my mind but I doubt it…

Israel’s on the lower end of my Top Ten, but if you want to know why Israel appeals, there are several factors: 1) Earwormy: The chorus is ridiculously, goofily catchy, and the video accentuates it. Even if you don’t like the lyric, the thing gets into your head, and the Israeli ethnic beats in the background serve it well. 2) Fresh: Looping is new to Eurovision, the Israeli cultural thing about equating pickup artists with clucking chickens is new to Eurovision, and that entire music video is benefitting from the same novelty vibes that accrued to Italy and Macedonia last… Read more »

I actually think that France will be the one to flop this year… Mercy is a weak song with a just OK performer. It is a step down for France after 2 very good years.

Finland is a fanwank… So fans are voting.

Macedonia – my favorite – is still with 0 points… So what do I know ?

Good luck with to Netta, Eye Cue and everyone!

All these comments from people who “don’t care” of the OGAE poll are laughable and pathetic……. don’t take attention to it if it is so irrealistic for you……and if your faves are not in the top keep your dirty frustration.
However each year polegend godgarina criticize France so nothing new here.

Also, isn’t Saara Alto’s pre performance journey already remarkable? She has gone from being favourite, to having a very underwhelming national performance and there being the likelihood she wouldn’t even qualify, to her saying she’d change everything and doing well in this particular poll. I really hope people vote for her and she manages to deliver good staging!

Brian

Can’t see Israel winning, too much hype too early, unless her stage performance is incredible! If I was her I would only perform in 1 or 2 of the pre-concerts because she doesn’t want to peak too soon!

Can see Bulgaria/Australia winning – they’ve had good reactions (not fantastic) but have the potential to be really elevated in staging.

France for me is the strongest song – melody wise and lyrically. For me it would be my 12 points

Expectations will be sooo high on Israel.

Nothing danceable has won since Euphoria-Heroes (Heroes may not even be for some people, Euphoria is) but those two had their emotion turning points. Toy comes as trivial at first listen, has very little room for emotion on stage. I always thought it is the kind of song that shines on a video but for a live performance will be an absolute bluff with the rare exception they bring an out of the blue staging. Gabbani suffered the same last year.

Israel’s victory chances are getting killed day by day.

Italys live perfomance was the only thing that killed theire chance to win… they said they will take the stage from the national selections and copy it to esc which was exactly what they did so expectations where incredibly low and the live was imo horrible israel had no previous performance with toy live and the pre parties wont show exactly what Israel is preparing so be prepared for your wig to snatch..

Spanish people has to be way more confident with their song. It’s like they have to be insecure or arrogant. Why not something balanced? I like Spain’s song and I’ll let it surprise me on stage. Not my favorite to win at this point but I really see potential in its beautiful harmony and simple lyrics that will get to a lot of people. Despite of being in spanish, are quite easy to catch. While they don’t go on to win the contest itself, the winner of the OGAE poll tends to always do very well. Even if I don’t really like Toy and have political misgiving about an Israeli win, I admit that Netta will likely get the country their best finish since 2005.

Ogae polls are conducted long before the rehearsals start. Mama was an average to annoying song in studio version but on stage it got transformed to something amazing. It put the people in a party mood.
Right now the fans including you judge the songs based only on what they hear. It’s not really that difficult to comprehend is it?

In order to make these votes matter, why not introduce a more representative voting? OGAE is only hard-core fans voting. Not every fan is a member of OGAE. Have a voting that more reflects opinions of average people. Like having people of different age, sex, background, ethnicity and have both fans and non-fans vote. That would be a more reflective and perhaps more true voting that could work as a prediction.
It is far more accurate than 1000 or so fan-boys voting

Denis

Maybe if there are like OGAE polls but for average demographics. Maybe if each country asks between 1000- 5000 people, fans and non fans of various background, to rate thier favourite and then turn that into ESC scoring. Arguably it would be hard work but at least we would have an average representation of each country and could thus pick out an prediction.

only the juries give points to 10 countries, and that as 12, 10, 8, 7…, the average person doesn’t vote for more than 3-4, usually just for 1or 2, and sometimes 20 times for their favourite.
