Tirana. Dublin. Budapest. Three more OGAE fan clubs. Three more sets of points. And three more perfect scores for Israel’s Netta

OGAE Albania, Ireland and Hungary have all given “Toy” twelve points in their fan votes. But after that things get a bit more interesting.

Albania gave its other top marks to Italy (10) and Bulgaria (8), Ireland went for France (10) and Australia (8), while Hungary opted for Estonia (10) and Finland (8).

Hungary also broke ranks with its lower marks, putting Belarus (5) and Ukraine (3) onto the scoreboard.

OGAE POLL 2018 SCOREBOARD

While Israel has opened up a big lead, the rest of the top 5 are jockeying for position, with only 16 points between second place France and fifth place Czech Republic.

The margin between 5th and 10th is also slim. Just five points separate Mikolas Josef and tenth place Benjamin Ingrosso from Sweden.

You can see the full leaderboard below:

1st Israel – 84 points
2nd France – 40 points
3rd Finland – 36 points
4th Australia – 30 points
5th Czech Republic – 24 points
6th Italy – 23 points
7th Cyprus – 21 points
8th Bulgaria – 21 points
9th Estonia – 21 points
10th Sweden – 19 points
11th Greece – 19 points
12th Denmark – 17 points
13th Belgium – 16 points
14th Norway – 8 points
15th Austria – 8 points
16th Spain – 6 points
17th Germany – 5 points
18th Belarus – 5 points
19th Ukraine – 3 points

The following countries have not yet received any points: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Croatia, F.Y.R Macedonia, Georgia, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland, The Netherlands and United Kingdom.

The OGAE Poll 2018 results should be taken with a hefty pinch of salt. They’re a more accurate barometer of fan opinion than how acts will actually fare during the semi-finals and Grand Final.

“Favorites” of this year are failing live.
Israel doesn’t deserve 12 points, their live performance was huge mess.
Belgium and Macedonia had terrible live performances too.
Best live performance: Albania, Italy and Spain.

Seriously? FYROM has had one of the best live performances so far.

The OGAE poll is also good at predicting which songs won’t qualify. Keep an eye on the songs that don’t get any points!

i am from Israel and i will vote for Germany because they have the best song!! no politics please!!

First I thoght the people that write coments are hate my country Israel . But as I read all coments I understand you just hate other countrys songs , and favevorites ! Italy last 3 years been rubbed !!! It had to be their win . But astrategic votes of people screw it … Salvador , last year been better ??? WTF ??? This year my fav (exept Israel) is Belgium and Austria . Go party , Lets have fun !! Thats all

azaad

OGAE isn’t even representative of the wider ESC fandom. If you look at a breakdown of youtube tops, Netta’s lead is considerably smaller proportionally (though she is still the overall favourite), Elina and MM round out the top 3 etc…

gj

OGAE as usual following the betting odds too much. I swear in 2000 they would have probably voted Macedonia 1st.

Still no mention of the Eurojury vote, another pretty important vote?
So far after two countries voted top 3 is: Czech Republic, Israel and Sweden

Denis

Ireland just voted and changed the result:
From Ireland: 12points to Australia, 10 to Spain and 8 to Portugal. Sweden 6 Points and Israel 0 Points

New top 5:
1: Australia 24 Points
2: Sweden 18 Points
3: Czech Republic 18 Points
4: Finland: 13 Points
5: Israel 13 points

Israel gets all the 12 pts? Looks like ogae like animals. Last year a gorilla and now a chick.

Yeah I’m shocked that FYROM, Hungary, and Netherlands have got nothing yet.
I’ve seen lots of people like FYROM and Hungary’s songs, and doesn’t Netherlands have a pretty decent spot in the betting odds rn?

Like, realistically speaking Hungary and Netherlands will make the finals for sure (especially being in the 2nd semi), and FYROM is at least a borderline qualifier. Even if they don’t make it, they’ll probably at least be close yanno?

Kaz
Guest

Hmm I think Hungary could be destroyed by juries imo. Not my fav but I appreciate its merits. Also Macedonia should have something!

PP
Guest

Many fans overrated Hungary . For me Hungary 2018 sound like Finland 2015 (and we knew who juries voted for them only 1 point from juries , Serbian juries gave them 1 point, with televote they are on 10 th place).
Hungary 2018 is not like Turkey 2010, 2011, Finland 2014, Georgia 2016,Cyprus 2016

poe-tay-toe chips
Guest

I don’t expect Hungary to place HIGH in the finals (probably like 20th place), but I’m almost positive it’ll qualify.

The jury may not go for it, but I think enough televoters can pull it through. Not to mention that the semi is pretty weak in comparison to the first semi. There’s a handful of songs in the 2nd semi that we already know for sure won’t make it (montenegro, moldova, san marino, etc) , u feel?

Yaa

I’ll be there, voting for them! Can’t wait to see them on that stage in Lisbon!

The fact FYROM and Hungary have no points and that Ukraine and Belarus just got their first ones whereas Israel and Australia are in the top 5 show how poor some Eurofans’ taste is. Accurate barometer of fan opinion my ass.

the voting is just YASSSS QUEEEEEN, STAAAAAAN and so on, that’s why Finland and Israel are doing this well

Amez YT

Lmao I’m joining this year. I personally like rock/metal music so whatever, and both Ukraine and Belarus have improved a lot vocally if you watch their latest lives. FYROM is a great song that definitely stands out with a unique structure and catchy hook.

Very interesting, but note the results from last year.

1–Italy
2–Belgium
3–Sweden
4–France
5–Estonia
6–Portugal
7–Bulgaria
8–Macedonia
9–Israel
10-Finland

13–Hungary (finished 8th)
14–Australia (finished 9th)
16–Norway (finished 10th)
17–Romania (Finished 7th)

While Moldova (that finished 3rd) got ZERO Points, and didn’t even rank on the OGAE poll.

You are on point. The Eurovision community is relatively small. As a hungarian I can say… We dont go nuts abouth it before the show, but we also watch it. It is sad, how many of you take it el?l blody seriously. This whole thing is light and joy. Who cares who will win! I learn so much abouth other nations here. Best for you áll from Hungary!?

Israel is doing extremely well in the poll. However, I’m afraid we’ll see sth like Italy 2017 slaying the OGAE poll but not winning. Nevertheless, the poll gives us an idea of how Erovision fans see the entries.

Happy for Greece and Cyprus keep gathering points.

Also, I’m surprised countries like Armenia, FYROM or Albania still don’t have any points.

You don’t know what is behind the cancellation – no artist would try to to shoot oneself in the foot by announcing a promotion tour with the purpose to cancell it. No one would be so stupid. So there must be some serious reasons behind his cancellation. The worst would be some illness that he doesn’t want to commuicate. You never know.

blondboybc
Guest

I would agree with you on that one…juries won’t like it as much as the tele-voters. It will likely be in the top 5 in the same way Moldova was last year. Greece will do well if they can get their staging right…usually, they do! Not so sure about Cyprus live, despite loving the song. Generally speaking, OGAE is infamous for favouring pop songs over ballads/rock songs, etc. So, don’t read too much into that!

If we’re talking about countries’ political reputations, Russia (war mongering, LGBTQ and ethnic minority repression, general dictatorial attitude), Israel (oppression of Palestinians in the Occupied Territories of the West Bank and Gaza), Hungary (current government’s policies), Poland (suppression of the judiciary and minority rights), Spain (what some see as repression of Catalonian secessionist movement), Bulgaria (publicised corruption), UK (Brexit and the friction it’s caused between the UK and more than half the countries competing), Ukraine (for those of a pro Russian standpoint), Belarus (again, general dictatorial government), Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic (recent embrace of right wing populism), and Australia… Read more »

But can anyone tell me what’s so significantly better about Australia that it’s 4th right now and Azerbaijan hasn’t received any Points? For me they’re both equally generic , so I don’t understand the pattern here.

KESC
Guest

The difference is that Jessica is from Australia 😉

Ferro
Guest

Yeah right! Australia effect is so huge! FYI, the boring “Don’t come easy” didn’t even get into top 10 in any poll last year. For me, Australia’s entry this year is so well-produced and her vocals sell the song more with those high notes. Plus, the drum beats leading to the final part is the one big difference when it’s compared with Azerbaijan’s entry, which is plain till the end.

KESC
Guest
Ferro, relax. No one said anything bad about Australia’s entry. I like their entry as well, and I love Jessica as a singer. But c’mon, if Slovenia would’ve chosen this entry, nobody would talk about it. It would probably be in the last places with the odds, and the actual Contest. Australia’s position in the contest effects the country’s results at the contest, that’s a fact. Don’t come easy did not deseve that 9th place, the televoting results even showed the truth. Jessica, however, deserves to qualify, and I would not mind, if she reaches the TOP 15 or maybe… Read more »

Maybe it didn’t seem that way, but I really appreciate your Country at Eurovision. <3 I may not like the song, but I think you have the right to be here and all that ''the Jury is biased'' stuff is not true. You just normally send Songs, that Appeal to the Jury. Be proud of your Country, you may not be European, but you belong here.

Yaa
Guest

Juries are biased to Australia, see the huge difference with televoting! 2 points?!Wtf?

ste
Guest

That dude from Australia sung really bad on the live shows but he’s really good on the juries shows. That’s the difference and I think Don’t Come Easy is very jury-friendly as a song for me.

Kyna
Guest

I’m still trying to figure it out for weeks… they’re both indeed in the same generic family.

azaad
Guest

Also, individual star power is a huge factor. Jessica is probably the biggest star competing this year – much more famous than Aisel.

Yaa
Guest

Not a star in Europe, that’s for sure! And we don’t care, anyway! It’s a fresh start for everybody, and that is good.

Weißbrot
Guest
Okay, it’s actually nonsensical, cause every ”argument” you bring for Jessica is completely subjective and for a Person like me who cares for neither of the songs, these points are kinda hard to understand. Yes, Jessica sells her song better, because (obviously) it’s authentic to her and her Music.. But production wise, melody wise and lyrically both songs aren’t far away from each other. Both songs are in my bottom 10, not because I think they’re that bad, just because I don’t care about them. But hey, I guess everything is subjective and there are always things we won’t agree… Read more »

I’ve been thinking the same. I’m actually surprised that Azerbaijan doesn’t have more support.

Weißbrot
Guest

I have an open mind and I gladly accept every opinion out there. No Need to be salty. If you like These songs, don’t let your love be stopped by People who don’t like them. But especially: Don’t consider everyone a hater, it’s kinda annoying.

Weißbrot
Guest

I didn’t hate anything, darling. And I love that Australia is taking part. Just because I don’t love a song, doesn’t mean I’m a hater, calm down Girl.

Weißbrot
Guest

Wtf is your problem guys? I never said anything against Australia, calm down.

Kyna
Guest

Just because I don’t like the song doesn’t make me a hater. You don’t know me, you have no idea how many genres I listen AND APPRECIATE. You literally jugded me for not liking one song. Perhaps I am more open minded so that I see through better and doesn’t fall for generic things? Hmm, have you ever think about that? There are two sides in this case. I have my own tastes and you have yours. But yea, like Weißbrot said, everything is indeed subjective.

Aaron
Guest

The whole package is significantly better in my opinion. I totally can understand the hype around Australia this year. Azerbaijan is not even comfortable singing her own song let alone convince the audience.

Yaa

I don’t. But it’s ok, just Eurovision!

If we just ignore Israel for one minute in the 3 results above, (I know that is difficult to do,) but the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th songs of the 3 OGAE countries have 12 DIFFERENT songs in those 15 positions. This maybe a very good example to demonstrate how open this year is. Certainly these 3 countries can’t agree who are the major contenders to Israel it seems. There are only 24 points between 2nd and 13th; it will be interesting to see how this develops. Still lots of results to come of course. It is also worth… Read more »

Israel is building up a kind of role we’ve seen before with Loreen and Alexander Rybak in 2009. Unless Netta is not able to put the act on halfway decent live, or someone else blows everyone out of the water by a sensational live performance i think Israel is the winner this year. Netta has already shown in other live performances she can deliver and the song is targeting a very broad base of Eurovision fans. @WeiBbrot (sorry for the misspelling by the way) that’s true, but I still am holding out that Israel doesn’t win. From a musical perspective, it deserves credit and to do well, but there are better songs competing this year (in my opinion, Belgium, Estonia, France and others)

Many points from Italy in Eurovision got Moldova and some Romania. This year Israel can lose many poits only from Norway

Manuel
Guest

Well I will not be surprised if Greece wins…I think it is like Portugal last year…many liked it before the contest but thought other countries were better(Italy,Bulgaria etc)…but these countries had
more haters so Portugal with less haters won in the end..Everyone likes Greece(at least 80% of the people) and in the end it might make the surprise…do you think so?

Weißbrot
Guest

Portugal had TONS of haters, it was probably one of the most polarising Songs 2017. Everybody just went with Bulgaria and Italy… I rarely saw any negative comments about Italy especially. When you wanted to read Things about Portugal, it was probably 60% positive comments and 40% utterly negative ones. So the Options with the most haters won, because the ones that liked Portugal, liked it enough to vote. Doesn’t mean that I disagree with you about Greece, I also think they could surprise us and win it all.

Marc

Portugal had a special singer. Greece hasn’t. Juries also hate ethno Greek entries sadly.
And Portugal was very polarizing but it had passion which is what you need for winning. Haters can’t vote.

Spain is also (almost) always bottom 5 in the last year, I’m pretty sure nobody has anything against Spain. Or San Marino, Slovenia or the other countries that never qualify. Why do you even Need to attack a whole Country like that? If there’s anyone here to blame (which I don’t think, but who cares) it’s our government not our People. We don’t have to do ANYTHING with your economic Situation, so bye.

Mateo

So if Germany had the best song you would not vote for it because they did not behave politically towards Greece the way you wanted them to? Don’t you think that is going exactly against what the contest is supposed to achieve?
Im not a fan of Russian politics but i did vote for Polina a few years back and felt Dima was a deserved winner. When a song and performance are good it does not matter what country has sent them in. They deserve to win.

Malin

Mateo, agree.

Aaron

It could indeed be an Italy 2017 OR Alternatively it could be a

Denmark 2013
Sweden 2012
Norway 2009

Actually so far Israel is not only out performing Italy 2017 in the poll it’s outperforming the 3 above as well. No entry has ever revived all 12s from the first 7 clubs to declare. Even Norway got a 10 or so here and there early on.

If Australia sent this song, they wouldn’t win the televote, not to mention the whole contest. Didn’t you see how the televote for them in recent years? Even Dami Im only got 4th with the televote. Sweden were the only country that could win jury and televote in this scenario.

I can see Australia winning just from jury love alone. If they went from last in televote to 9th overall last year, then they could climb to the top from a higher public vote.

You should know the gaps between each top 5 televotes are big. Unless they could get into top 3 with televote, they would have a chance. However, that’s not gonna happen ‘cuz they’re not an European country.

I fully agree with you. Dami Im deserved to win in 2016, but because Australia “is not a European country”, she didn’t unfortunately.

It might be Italy 2017 all over again and it might be Norway 2009, who knows?
Norway was unstoppable back in 2009 unlike Italy in 2017 where we also had Bulgaria and Portugal as favourites to win the contest
This year I believe, the winner will be either Israel or Estonia or maybe Bulgaria with an epic staging
I think Israel actually has a chance this year as there isn’t an absolute favourite to win the contest (at least yet)

You may remember my comment mid-March saying I thought the betting Top 10 did not feel right to me and that some songs may be overrated. I’m monitoring these 7 songs with the OGAE results as they come in. The first position is where the country was in the betting, the second is the current OGAE position :- (1st) Israel………………. (1st) (3rd) Czech Republic……(5th) (4th) Belgium…………….(13th) (5th) Australia…………….(4th) (6th) Sweden…………….(10th) (8th) Norway…………….(14th) (10th) Netherlands………..( – ) The other 3 countries in the betting Top 10 at the time were :- (2nd) Estonia……………………(9th) (7th) Bulgaria…………………(8th) (9th) France……………………(2nd) I feel Estonia should… Read more »

Estonia will do better with televoting than jury

Alo Alo :- Alo Alo :- Maybe? In the last 3 years the juries have placed the following countries in their Top 10.

Sweden 3 years out of 3
Australia 3
Belgium 3

Bulgaria 2
Russia 2
Italy 2
Norway 2

I mait be realy wrong, but I belive that the telefoners will be creul agains opera when it is a woman that sings. It doen’t matter that she is extra ordenary. I don’t think those who listen to opera care to see ESC, and among those who doesn’t, well they prefer when men sing opera.

Malin

I don’t agree Elina that she is a screming b **. But I think a lot of people think she is screeming, unfurtunally. There are a lot of persons that don’t lika female operasingers.
Marlena Ernman, a very good swedish operasinger didn’t make it at all. But maby more people will like this song??

Marlena Ernman, was this so bad?

Didn’t think the votes for Salvador last year were reflective of how most people think about Jazz or Lordi of how people felt about rock/metal, either. Genres are just genres. Some songs just happen to transcend into something a bit more special. There is no “type” of music to win the ESC. Estonia might just do it.

Could be Italy 2017… I’m not a fan of ”Toy” neither was I a fan of ”Occidentali’s karma”, but this year at least I understand the Hype.

Won’t a lot of OGAE members be in Lisbon?

Doesn’t that mean Israel is actually losing all of these votes? They won’t be at home picking up their phones.

Iain

The wonder of mobile technology.

Elin

Ha, ha.

Jonas

Your sarcasm is misplaced because my point was that if they are in Lisbon all their votes will go to the Portuguese televote instead of spread out across Europe.

Hada

They can vote from Portugal

Denis

Yes but they would vote from Portugal then, right? They wouldn´t vote from thier country?

Dew

That doesn’t matter. Not all of the OGAE fans will be in Lisbon. Even if they can only vote in Portugal, there are still many people who will vote for Israel in Europe and Australia. Why do you guys think only OGAE members like this song?

blondboybc

Don’t get excited…the actual total number of OGAE voters is quite small relative to the overall public vote…they’ve been a poor predictor of the top 10 for as long as I can remember…they underrate ballads, and overrate pop songs. Take this poll as others with a grain of salt. What counts is the actual live performances on the night of the semis and final.

Israel will not win the contest. They wili be like Russia 2016, first with televote but with juries out of TOP 5 places.
Winner will be countires who are in TOP 4 with televote and juries, and I think it will be Sweden.
My prediction TOP 5 with juries
1.Belgium
2.Sweden
3.Germany
4.Australia
5.The Netherlands
TOP 5 with televote
1.Israel
2.Norway
3.Sweden
4.Czech Republic
5.Estonia
TOP 5 (juries plus televote)
1.Sweden
2.Belgium
3.Israel
4.Norway
5.Germany

Weißbrot

It’s flattering that you think Germany (my Country) could reach the top 10, but I totally don’t see that right now. 15th place would be a success..

I think the results will be like:
Televote:
1.Israel/Estonia
2.Israel/Estonia
3.Czech Republic
4.Norway
5.Denmark/Bulgaria

Jury:
1.Belgium
2.Bulgaria
3.Estonia
4.Israel
5.Sweden

Overall:
1.Estonia
2.Israel
3.Bulgaria/Czech Republic
4.Bulgaria/Czech Republic
5.Belgium

Just a guess, could go either way.

I think Germany is dark horse this year, same as Norway maybe for win (if many eurovision fans don t thinks so). Estonia wili be in TOP 10, but I dont think that juries wili be put this song in TOP 8 (Italy 2016 with better song was only 6th with juries). Bulgaria wili be this year out of TOP 5, in TOP 10 100 %. But in 2016 we had charisma singers and catchy song. in 2017 we had charisma young singer with modern ballad. This 2018 Bulgaria don t have charisam singer or song with cathy tunes neither… Read more »

I don’t really agree on most Things you’re saying, but we’ll see who had the better prediction. This is always the fun part! ^^

Marc

It’s so hard to predict at this stage.
I can’t see Belgium winning juries + it would be rare to have a top 5 all Western. Bulgaria seems very jury friendly.. it’s polish and calculated.
I think Top 5 with televote might be Israel, Norway, Estonia, Bulgaria and Czech Republic.
With juries I think Israel, Czech Rep, Bulgaria and safe bets: Sweden and Australia. Random order (I’m not confident at all with these 5)
Estonia is too polarizing but I can see it 4th or 5th maybe with juries.
I also see France and Italy as dark horses, one of them could really surprise.

@EugeneESCUK

PP :- I respect your comment of course, but as in every year I can’t see where you are getting your logic?? I’m going to stick my neck out and say that possibly only one of your Top 5 will actually make it into the Top 5. We will have to return and see if you are correct. But we have not heard all the songs live or seen the staging yet?? Good luck with that though.

They are ranking only the songs, not the live performances.

RussianFan

what the point of this points anyway? lol
it\s like guessing games, most of voters will see entries for the first time ever and know nothing about overhyped songs anyway

Mattias Sollerman

It’s a fan poll. Polls are fun. It’s not supposed to predict anything.

RussianFan

oh! ok then :))
i don\t hate any songs this year and will be happy with any to win, except Russia, she can\t sing and i feel very embarrassing for my country, hope we will stay in semi this year…

Denis

You said it, there is no Point. It is only die hard fans voting for favourite songs. Not every fan is OGAE member and majority of voters in ESC aren just average non-fans
Only a bit of fun indeed.

It is not meant to predict because no one can predict. It can however be used as a way to see which songs will do well on the night. If a song does well in OGAE it will most likely do well in ESC too. Exceptions of course though:)

Elin
Guest

Perhaps the pull has an inpact on the odds? And the pull and odds mait influence the juries a bit.

Denis
Guest

The odds are more influenced by performances than OGAE. Estonia is still ranked second at the odds even though it is 9th in voting.
As for the juries most of them don´t follow ESC news or polls or who should win. They aren’t ESC fans, just people who work with music. They wouldn’t know who the favourite is. Otherwise Italy, Russia or France would have won in 2015 and 2016.
