The UK is going for a familiar face for Lisbon. SuRie might have had to win Eurovision: You Decide to represent her country, but she has plenty of Eurovision experience already.
She was one of the backing vocalists for both Loïc Nottet and Blanche, both Belgian acts who finished 4th. Can she deliver a similar result for her home country with “Storm”?
“Storm” takes on a literal approach with its lyrics: a message that no matter how hard things can be, we can get through them together. SuRie speaks to her family throughout the song; she asks her mother “am I making you proud, or could I do better”?
There’s plenty of self reflection, but as the song builds, so does Surie’s confidence. The bridge sees the song as its most motivational: “Spread your love / give all you got / hold your head up…”
