Eurovision rehearsals start a week from tomorrow. But the 2018 promo tour isn’t over yet, as tonight the stars come out once more for the Eurovision Spain PreParty in Madrid. Wiwibloggers Kevin and Bernardo are on-the-ground rubbing shoulders with the acts one last time before departing for Lisbon, and naturally they grabbed a few key interviews in between drinks. So cosy up to the computer and let’s say Olé!

Spain: Alfred & Amaia

In short: Alfred is working on a new album and will collaborate with a number of artists. Amaia claims there is nothing in the pipeline at the moment, as she is still determining the focus of her album. We suspect she’ll find it soon: With all the creativity and momentum that will be building in Lisbon, she’ll be ripe and ready to make music this summer.

Macedonia: Eye Cue

In short: Don’t try to put them into a box! This genre-defying group says “Lost and Found” is indicative of their general style — broad and pulling from whatever they are feeling at the moment. They will continue to experiment with their sound, but definitely won’t be leaning toward folk. Also: They discuss some very special shoes for their evening performance in Madrid.

Belarus: Alekseev

In short: As a child Alekseev had Spanish parents who he visited every summer to learn from. He had an emotional reunion with them ahead of the Pre-Party and gave us major feels when talking about them. His next English release is a translation of his previous hit “Drunken Sun”.

Latvia: Laura Rizzotto

In short: Laura, who has taken her Eurovision single from a forthcoming EP, says she has one more pop track to complete before releasing her next EP Ruby.

Portugal: Claudia & Isaura

In short: Composer Israua appears on stage with Claudia in their performance of “O Jardim”. But she says that she chose not to credit herself as a performer because she sees herself as a backing vocalist for Claudia. The pink-haired siren Claudia won’t be changing her hair for Lisbon. She’s so on the wiwi brand we just cannot cope. Love!

All of the artists turned up and turned out on the ESPreParty red carpet on Friday. We were standing by and snapped their fiery looks. You can check all of them out on our Instagram page @wiwibloggs. Scroll right!

I’ve noticed some people complaining about the Spanish fans in the comment fields, and yes, there are certainly some loud mouths here and there. But hey, did you see the love and amazing support that the Spanish fans showed EVERY artist at the Eurovision Spain PreParty last night? 🙂 Those are the fans that really matter in my opinion.

Spanish fans are sometimes annoying, but they usually don’t bash another country. it’s just because they love (or hate) their own entry a lot. There’s another “type of fan”, whose country I won’t mention here, that loves diminish other countries in order to elevate their own.

Now that Eugent appeared in Madrid, we’ll need to keep praying for him to bring Albania back to the grand final in a few weeks. BTW, so glad he’ll belt out the high notes during his performance in Lisbon. 🙂

We need Eugent in the final for sure.
