blue carpet eurovision 2018 opening ceremony claudia pedro ines

Portugal are going all aboard with their nautical theme this year, and the Eurovision 2018 Opening Ceremony will be no different. As previously confirmed, the traditional red carpet is out.

Instead, the 43 acts will walk along the blue carpet as part of the opening event on May 6.

Today, RTP has confirmed full details of the blue carpet event, as well as the four hosts. They are Cláudia Semedo, Inês Lopes Gonçalves, Pedro Granger and Pedro Penim.

Eurovision 2018 Blue Carpet: About the Hosts

Three of the four hosts are all Lisbon born natives, giving the event an even greater local feel. Cláudia Semedo is an actress, journalist, movie star and more: she’s a star, y’all! She’s also helped present Playhouse Disney and is a mother to two young children. Get them in that Eurovision spirit early!

Inês Lopes Gonçalves is a familiar face to those who watched Festival da Canção. Ines was the greenroom host in this year’s edition, and is a radio and TV host across the RTP network.

Pedro Granger previously hosted The Weakest Link in Portugal, but has plenty of Eurovision connections. He was a commentator in 2012 and has also helped to write the script for this year’s show. We’ll also be seeing plenty of Pedro, as he’s also a press conference moderator this year. RTP will certainly be keeping him busy!

Finally, Pedro Penim might not be from Lisbon, but he was born in the nearby town of Sesimbra. Pedro is the founding member and the artistic director of Teatro Praga, a theatre company that has seen work presented worldwide.

There is some serious talent here and we can’t wait to see the blue carpet ceremony now!

The blue carpet will take place on the Lisbon riverside, next to the Museu de Arte, Arquitetura e Tecnologia (MAAT). The event takes place from 1800 CET (1700 local time) and will be streamed live on YouTube. As always, we’ll be there ready to ask questions to all the artists

Are you excited for the blue carpet event? What do you think of the hosts? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments section below.

that s true… hosts that don’know how to speak simple english, in Kiew… horrible… true, never beat that, because in Portugal almost everyone speaks very well english, and everybody will understand in europe.

Last year the Ukranian hosts at Red Carpet Ceremony were such a disaster. Looking forward to see this year how it will be.

Ugh, again Portugal trying to make themselves out to be super unique. This whole “Blue Carpet” idea sounds so conceited, I’m rolling in laughter. I now see the reason why Portugal has never hosted, they felt too entitled to!

naaa they don´t need that. They are one of the oldest Nation-State in the world, they have their own identity they don´t need to prove anything…

It is amusing how people can just spread venom like this. Please continue internet trolls, I hope you find peace and happiness in spreading unrequisited hate. <3 Love from Lisbon

This was obviously not written by me but by the anti-Portuguese troll that has been insulting and attacking me here and all the Southern European sounding names, as well as all those that have called out these attacks.
PS: My real nickname has a light blue avatar “monster” with green “legs”

I agree with the dark blue one
This is a little lame
But that shouldn’t be the reason to not vote for a good song like O jardim

Portugal is only known for financial crisis? Are you serious?never hosted? What the ESC? So what? They already hosted much bigger event with huge sucess…

Julily,

Riga Margot is probably the same person as this fake Purple Mask down below. A loser who couldnt get a ticket and can only afford weak trolling now.

Agree. Blue Carpet is just tacky af. We get it – Portugal has water! They are really using every single opportunity to remind that – the staging like a ship, blue carpet and that ridiculous theme song with elements of ocean sound. Portugal need a massive flood to help them get over it and get better infrastructure. Maybe then, they can think of something else after water.

Purple Mask, why all the silly blind hatred? And what is that talk about insfrastructure? Do you even know what you’re talking about? This is a perfect example of someone being mean and ignorant just for the sake of it.

Hun dont waste yer time. He’s a try hard, not even a good troll. His trolling level is like the fat girl that no one wants to dance with at a party. Either way, where the heck are the mods? lulz. This is why weak trolls think they can get away with it. I laughed, not because it’s good, but because it was embarrassing anyway.
