Eurovision 2018 is almost upon us. Rehearsals begin in mere days, at which point we’ll finally get to see each country’s staging plans.

As always there’ll be majestic masterpieces and boiling hot messes. But for now, we’re judging each act solely on their official audio and promotional performances.

Since 15 March, we’ve been asking y’all to vote for your favourite automatic qualifier (i.e. the Big Five plus hosts Portugal). And thousands of you have answered our call, with an impressive 13,408 votes already cast. The poll remains open until Eurovision week, but we’re going to take a sneak peek at how the figures are currently stacking up.

In the lead up to Kyiv, Italy were the unassailable favourites. But of course, as we all know, Francesco Gabbani and his ape slipped up on arrival and finished sixth. Undoubtedly, Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro will hope to avoid making the same mistakes in Lisbon. The Sanremo winners have skipped the pre-party circuit completely, but that hasn’t dented their appeal. “Non mi avete fatto niente” currently leads our poll, clocking up 3,224 votes or 24.05% of all votes cast so far.

They secured Destination Eurovision victory thanks to the public vote. And it looks like France’s Madame Monsieur continue to have your support. The “Mercy” singers will endeavour to maintain the Gallic nation’s recent run of good form. And they currently sit strong at second in our poll, amassing 3,016 votes or 22.49% of all votes cast so far.

Madame Monsieur “Mercy”

They’ve adopted a nautical theme for next month’s contest, and Portugal continue to ride the wave of success first generated by Salvador Sobral. Cláudia Pascoal looks set to nab another respectable result for this year’s hosts and currently occupies third spot in our poll. The pink-haired songstress has gathered 2,743 votes or 20.46% of all votes cast to date.

Based on the current rankings, Spain and Germany round out the top five.

At the other end of the poll, the UK’s SuRie sits in last place. “Storm” is the only entry to receive less than 1,000 votes.

Of course, all this is subject to change. The poll remains open until Eurovision week. So if you haven’t done so already, vote now!

The UK will come across much more strongly come the final as she can kill it live, very underrated entry. But the BBC needs to improve big time on all fronts in the contest.

So Spain is the best duo and Italy 3rd but Italy is the best automatic qualifier and Spain 4th? Makes sense.
