Eurovision 2018 top 43 acts all countries Lisbon

The time has come. Eurovision fortnight officially begins tomorrow with rehearsals for the first set of acts competing in the first semi-final.

It’s been a long road getting here since the first national selection back in December 2017, through to the last song reveals of mid-March and then the numerous pre-parties over the past few weeks. Many countries have lost and gained momentum during this period, and our top 43 rankings often change weekly throughout it all.

The Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of musical unprofessionals — first rated the songs way back in late March with predominantly studio cuts available, and before seeing any of the live performances at the pre-parties. Our scores were locked in by our accounting firm, with no way to change them as the results were revealed over the following weeks.

However, like many, our thoughts have changed with time. So we thought it was only right to reveal our updated favourites before the first set of rehearsals tomorrow.

Additionally, while average rankings are all well and good, at Eurovision it’s the amount of high-scoring 12, 10 and 8 points an act receives that really matters. A song may be divisive, but if people still love it then they’ll pick up the phone and vote (even the juries are now set to reward their favourite songs rather than down-grade their least favourite).

Therefore, we’ve teamed up with our friends over at My Eurovision Scoreboard to update our jury’s ranking based on the combined vote of each individual jury member’s current top 10. Think of this as our televoting points, whereas the initial Wiwi Jury was more akin to the traditional jury vote.

Once again our jury is truly international. The 25 members hail from Belgium, Australia, Hungary, Portugal, Ireland, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Latvia, Germany, Spain, Lithuania, Czech Republic, New Zealand, Israel, Iceland and the United Kingdom. #CelebrateDiversity y’all!

Israel’s Netta came out on top of our previous Wiwi Jury ranking, followed by Sennek from Belgium and then Finland’s Saara Aalto. But do we still think the same? Take a look below to find out!

Wiwi Jury 2018 – Updated Top 43

IrelandRomania, San Marino and Georgia did not receive any points from the jury.

And there we go. Netta is still the Wiwi Jury’s favourite act before rehearsals begin with 149 points. This is a lead of 16 points over our second place act, France’s Madame Monsieur who earned 133 points. Saara Aalto retains her third place podium finish with 115 points. No other act received over 100 points from the jury.

It is obviously hard to directly compare between the two jury rankings due to the different number of jury members involved and different voting systems used. However, based on rankings alone the biggest climbers since our original ranking were Lithuania (+17), Denmark (+15), France (+8), FYR Macedonia (+8) and Malta (+8).

Meanwhile, the biggest fallers with the jury were Austria (-11), The Netherlands (-9), Azerbaijan (-9), Italy (-9) and Germany (-9).

Only time will tell if Netta can remain at the top of the Wiwi Jury. And we won’t have long to wait, as she’s set to take to the Altice Arena tomorrow for her first rehearsal. Will her staging and live performance live up to the pre-contest hype?

Be sure to follow all our thoughts and reactions to next week’s rehearsals here on wiwibloggs.com and on our YouTube channel wiwi.tv.

Who are your top 10 favourites before rehearsals begin? Do you agree with our Wiwi Jury? Whose individual top 10 is most similar to your own? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments below!

HI wiwibloggs,

Why don’t you enquire on the ESCforum meltdown and write an article to provide us with the information about the reasons, the progress on solving the issues and the predicted time of relaunch? I always thought of you as the first source of ESC-related information and I really hoped you’d pick this topic.

Bonsoir Lisboa,
Bisous !

Sad to see Ireland, Georgia and Romania not get a single point. =( Admittedly, only Georgia is in my own top 10 from those three but both Ireland and Romania would make my top 20, and are far from the worst songs in the contest. Especially considering even the likes of Iceland, UK and Moldova got points! It’s the classic problem Ireland has every year; we never have the worst song* but an average middle-of-the-table one; sadly, an 11th place finish in every country’s final combined (jury+televote) rank means you end up with nul points. *with possible exceptions of 2005… Read more »

It’s because that the BBC does not care. To the BBC, the Eurovision budget is something that can be cut or sacrificed to produce something better or to go and give other shows more funding (like Casualty or Doctor Who for instance). But, when you do the math Eurovision for the entire year costs about a 1/3 of an episode of Eastenders or 1 weeks worth of news broadcasts. Also, when the BBC finally acquiesced to do a national final, we thought that it would be a step in the right direction but, there is no difference at all, they… Read more »

Greece so low whilst that’s “stupid boy” Benjamin so high?! (I know polls matter very little, but let me rant). I mention Greece because its the one that most seems “out of place” to me, but there are others. He was so very, very rude to almost everyone. A conceited, self-involved (and other similar adjectives) guy. To start, I didn’t like the song. He is bibberish (like Bieber) and the song highly relies on staging. (So I might be condicioned. Not saying I am, but there’s the possibility. I don’t like Biebers). He should be last. Someone that thinks they… Read more »

Tell me exactly when OGAE and wiwi juries were right about the winning song. For example last year Italy was both in first place for OGAE and wiwi jury and in the competition it was on the 6th place. Bulgaria’s song is not even close to pathetic. This is one of the best songs in this year’s competition. Don’t get me wrong, I do like Toy, but for real the battle is going to be between Bulgaria, Israel, Estonia, France and maybe Australia.

Been thinking that Austaralia will do rather bad whith the televoters, now I’m sertan. But a great stage show and fantstisk voice will probably pay off. I think Australa will do great with the juries..

Average my axx! If Tonight Again and Sound Of Silence were average, songs ranked behind them that year(More than most of the songs) would probably have been trash! Sorry, not sorry.
