She’s a self-confessed optimist who always looks on the bright side. And today that seemed all the more remarkable as Azerbaijan’s Aisel opened up to wiwibloggs about the loss of her husband.

“It’s a sad story of my life, to be honest,” the “X My Heart” singer says. “He was a musician — a pianist — and he passed away because he had cancer. But he put a lot of positive energy into my life, and he gave me too much, really.”

“He was older than me, by 12 years, and he had great experience — great life experience. As a musician and a friend he gave a lot to me.”

During his final years, the duo lived in Israel.

“My husband had medical treatment there — we stayed there because of this. I have only positive emotions with Israel. I have a lot of friends there, so we had a great time. I love this country.”

That experience made her recent performance at Israel Calling all the more magical.

“It was a great event. We were in religious places, in very interesting places, we had parties — it was a great event.”

I always thought she was so cold. But in this interview I saw a sensitive girl with dignity beneath that queen of ice. You can see the love in her eyes when she speaks about him. I’m sure he’d be proud of her.
