Forty-three countries came to Eurovision 2018, but only 26 managed to make it to the final. And on Friday evening they all competed in the jury final, which accounts for 50% of their overall score. During the show they faced a panel of music professionals. But in the video above they face the Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of musical unprofessionals.

In recent weeks our review videos have primarily featured Chris and William from the UK and Padraig from Ireland. But we’ve had more than 20 wiwibloggers on the ground in Lisbon. They’re not always visible, but they’ve been editing videos, running live streams, standing in interview queues and much, much more. In this video we bring many of them together. Among the faces are livestream queen Robyn (New Zealand), selfie stick maestro Deban (UK), videographer Ron (Israel), permanent press conference attendee Sebastian (Australia) and William’s sister Suzanne, video editor Cinan (Bulgaria) and special guest and table mate Ben (United States).

We’ve picked our jury show winners and also the acts we think actually won. Now you let us know yours.

This is my prediction for tonight: 1) France (The last two years my personal no. 1 favourites won but I predicted them not to… so I want to give it a try this year.) 2) Hungary (It might as well finish rock bottom… but I guess the televoters and juries will reward something a little different.) 3) Sweden (It’s more about the visuals than the song, but it might do better than expected, especially because both the juries and the televoters might react positively to this entry.) 4) Cyprus (She’s got fire and might give Cyprus its best result ever.… Read more »

What’s going on with W L Adams?
I really don’t know.
Everybody here is furious with him because he used the words of Salvador interview to create a sensationalit post only for buzz and controversy.
Everybody already knows Salvador speaks always without filter. Yes it’s true Salvador said he don’t like the song but only that, many parts of interview lines have been set to create the shameless post we all know not to prejudice Salvador, but the Portuguese entrie with negatives reactions around Portugal and the Portugueses.

Being such a small and not a wealthy country, I am really proud that Cyprus makes it to internationally recognised and famous websites, magazines and TV shows. We Cypriots thank you all for the publicity; it was really not expected and is such a nice surprise. It makes us all feel the love of Europe and the world in general. I hope that you will give us the chance to show the world in 2019 how beautiful and sunny this small island is, with marvelous people and great hospitality.

Sweden also moved from 6th to 5th, However I do not think it will win. I see too many people despising Sweden here. I also think the audience expects staging master pieces from Sweden. Benjamin is too main stream. I wish the Swedishmusic industry would not “help” other countries. Would be more fun.

It’s the most wide open in a long time, with about 6 possible winners, it possibly will come down to who was consistently good with the juries and gets a good televote result. I get a feeling the top televote result will be mid field with the juries and that costs them the win and might scramble top 5; since the voting changes pre contest favourites whee hammered by the juries and were left too much ground to catch up (especially Russia in 2016 where quite a lot of juries gave them zero)

My favorites in no particular order:

– Italy: powerful and classy without being politically correct.
– Cyprus: fun, super presentation, charismatic performer.
– Hungary: authetic, powerful, different.
– Bulgaria: mysterious, modern, cosmic feeling.
– Lithuania: sweet, warm, emotional, simple.

I would be happy with any of the above winning the contest and they would make a great top5 as well.
Honorable mentions: Slovenia and Germany. Good luck to all countries.

I m so agree with you- I m sure all countries can manage this contest- Portugal is doing so great work for example. I cannot stand comments like “you are bus driver from poor country and I m better bus driver because my country is rich”. And actually those people dont understand that everybody does not respect them as human at all.

I’m sure this will not be true. But yes United Kingdom, there has been much press coverage this year (more than I can remember for a long time) What a shame as we have such a bad song. Let’s get together and make the BBC listen. We need a good NF, we need good songs, we need good singers and we need people “all-aboard” the Eurovision train here in the UK. We have done it before, we can do it again. So directly to the BBC, let’s do this.

Netta reminds me Italia last year. Too much buzz around the song, too soon….
I think everybody is already tired of listening Netta song.
I’m not saying the song is not ok, but the marketing strategy and promotion of the song was not well planned. Everything done too soon.

Hi BEFAN, not only the ESC bubble. Remember last year…
Around the eurovision world who follows eurovision directly or indirectly is already tired of listening Netta song. In my opinion a completely different song will win.
France has a good entrie this year, Portugal too and we have other fantastic discreet songs.

Hi Eugene and thank you for your answer. The dark horse I am hoping for is Hungary. Albania has no chance of winning. It is a big success that they qualified and well deserved in my opinion. Any surprise winner would just be fun – the more you can calculate who is going to win the more it becomes a boring competition. As sombody said – at the end it is all about money (buying producers, stage artists, props etc. That’s why I love the entries from artists that wrote their songs, produced them by themselfves or like Moldova don’t… Read more »
