On May 10 they were among the ten acts that managed to qualify from the second semi-final to the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. And as a bit of stress-relief before the grand final on May 12, Balkanika decided to make fun of themselves.

The band released a parody of their performanceon their official YouTube channel, with each member impersonating another member.

Balkanika — “Nova deca”: Parody

Danica Krstic, the lead female vocalist, impersonated the flute player Ljuba Dimitrijevic; the lead male vocalist Mladen Lukic impersonated Danica Krstic; and the drummer Sale Radulovic impersonated vocalist Nevena Paripovic. Nevena Ivanovic, who designed Balkanika’s onstage costumes, impersonated Mladen. And Iva Banicevic, the third female vocalist, filmed the whole video.

Regardless of whether you follow all of that or not, you’ll surely appreciate this insight into how one delegation unwinds in their spare time.

The constant laughter and the ironic approach to their performance convey the group’s camaraderie — something we noticed during our extended blue carpet interview with them on Sunday. It was our longest interview of the night owing to their chatty nature and ability to make fun of each other and themselves.

Although the odds were not on their side and many viewers consider them as a surprise qualifier, the group remained confident about their act heading into the final.

“It’s really important that people understood the things we are about to say, or were saying, about new children, about love and about those children who make a better world for us,” Mladen Lukic said at the press conference after the second semi-final.

“We are those new children, so start making this world better. Have you heard it?”

Ah, they couldn’t hold it together.

Parodies are way funnier when you act like you’re taking it seriously.

While some are fighting over the results (as if it would change anything…) and offending other people for having different music tastes, I prefer to keep watching this video. Or rewatching the performances.

That was well said.. A MORON.. So don’t judge the whole contry based on one man.. I’m from Serbia and it was cringy for me too to watch him. I think it’s much worser what you are doing, hating a whole contry, which says a lot about you and from where you come from.. And btw, our song is probably the only one this year, which showed contries tradition.. We didn’t send chickens or wannabe Beyonce and so on, cause the list is long.

No, Serbia deserved to go to the finals since they were far more in tune than many of the other acts which made it. Serbia’s performance started to come together during the last rehearsals and for many people it was their favorite – not some generic pop trash or chicken clucking which ranked at the top.

Right…All of that doesn’t change the fact that Croatian Capital cities always begin with a B… Budapest, Belgrade, now Berlin! Those are the FACTS, unlike that gibberish you wrote.

Good job! Also, check methane levels in your metabolism, word is that it’s skyrocketing due to cleaning all that horse manure from Austrian stables…

Now shoo off you smallest of all annoyances!

Peace and love! And Serbia ofc, but you have that genetically imprinted already!

They should remove people like YOU.. My best friend is from Croatia and i’m from Serbia, so please stop embarrassing your contry and stop sharing hate speech, because that says a lot more about you. And btw, I fu**ing love croation people, the good ones of course. Which means that nationality doesn’t define if you are a bad person or not. You we’re born like a piece of sh*t regardless where you come from.

“Croation for ever” I don’t know who gave you the right to talk in the name of the whole country.. There are so many people from Croatia who support Serbia and opposite.. For example, so many people from my contry (Serbia) we’re pissed because Franka didn’t get through (including myself) and many croatian people we’re happy for Serbia entering the grand final.. Just read the youtube comments and be ashamed of yourself and the way you represent your own contry

I’m pretty sure that your contry wasn’t even in the GF since you are so mad about some “clown” performance that comes from irrelevent and small place called Serbia, that yet alwas get people talking about it. And I repeat, it’s still “irrelevant” but still draws attention, lol.. How so? 😉

They were Nazi allies to the hilt. They also massacred Jews.

Albanians in Kosovo did kill Jews. In Albania there were so few Jews that Albanians didn’t think of them as a threat.
In Kosovo, the Albanians have desecrated old Jewish cemeteries and they did cleanse the Jews of Pristina and Prizren at the end of the 1999 bombing.

Thanks Sara, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter which contry sent the best song, it just matters if the song is good or not.. That shouldn’t depend on the contry that the song comes from. XO
