She sang at Eurovision in May. He played in the World Cup final in July. And now Croatia’s biggest It Couple can celebrate another milestone: Their marriage!
On Saturday “Crazy” singer Franka Batelić tied the knot the with footballer Vedran Ćorluka in Istria, before staging their reception at Meneghetti — a luxury wine hotel and restaurant.
The day marked the culmination of their six-year relationship, and included a star-studded list of guests, including footballers Ivan Perišić and Luka Modric, and Croatia’s Eurovision 1994 singer Toni Cetinski.
Franka — a contender to win Eurovision’s Next Top Model 2018 — once again proved her fashion credentials.
She wore a Caroline Herrera gown with lace-up detailing and a sweetheart neckline. It helped further define her stunning form and also exposed her delicate shoulders, offering a sexy accent to the elegant and sophisticated occasion.
Croatian commentators have suggested that Franka nodded to Meghan Markle with her, which she wore scraped away from the face with a part down the middle. It was the perfect way to showcase her wrinkle-free complexion.
Franka entered the church to the sounds of a children’s choir consisting of 11 girls. They serenaded the bride and guests with songs including “You Raise Me Up” and “My Way”.
But when it was time to walk down the aisle, she chose the wedding classic Canon in D Major by Johann Pachelbel.
At her reception, Toni Cetinski entertained guests as only one of Croatia’s most esteemed singers can. Franka also spoke of how he inspired her to become a performer — and indeed lit her fire for Eurovision.
“Years ago I was imitating Tony Cetinski in front of the television with a remote control instead of a microphone when he represented us with ‘You may have all the love'”, she remembers. “Mom and Dad said that I’ll do the same when I grow up.”
