The grand final results show of America’s Got Talent 2018 was broadcast last night and with it came the news that Glennis Grace did not win the contest. But the Dutch diva gave a performance to be proud of and had the opportunity to duet with pop singer Bebe Rexha.

Glennis previously represented the Netherlands at Eurovision 2005 with “My Impossible Dream”. The song didn’t qualify for the Eurovision grand final, but Glennis proved she could handle the America’s Got Talent grand final.

On Tuesday night’s performance show, Glennis sang Snow Patrol’s “Run”, with a performance that owed more to Leona Lewis’ 2008 cover.

Glennis delivered a pitch-perfect performance, accompanied by a gospel choir. Despite the show’s insistence on portraying Glennis as a struggling single mom, her performance showed that her decades of experience have made her able to convey strength and emotion in her voice.

Glennis’ performance earned rapturous applause from the audience and a full standing ovation from the four judges: Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell.

Voting lines were opened, but fans had to wait until the Wednesday night results show to discover how Glennis had placed.

To bide the time in the results show, Glennis Grace joined American pop singer Bebe Rexha — whose parents are Albanian — for a duet version of her latest single “I’m a Mess”.

Glennis effortlessly joined in, bringing a warm soul layer to Bebe’s edgy pop style.

Finally the results were revealed, but sadly Glennis was not in the top five. First prize went to close-up magician Shin Lim, who wowed the audience with an incredible card trick. We’re still trying to figure out how he did it!

But Glennis Grace won’t be leaving America’s Got Talent empty-handed. Her appearance on AGT has given her huge exposure in the United States and her diary will surely be filling up fast.

One thing’s for sure though — Glennis won’t be returning to Eurovision. Despite rumours suggesting that the 2005 Dutch Eurovision singer would be making a comeback in Tel Aviv, Glennis cleared up the speculation.

In an interview earlier this week, when asked if she would like to return to Eurovision, the Lady of Soul answered, “Na-ah! Nooooo! It’s something fun to do once, but then it’s finished.”

What do you think of Glennis’ America’s Got Talent grand final performance? Should she represent the Netherlands at Eurovision again? Leave your comments below.

I was glad she didn’t win. That fake sob story was just pathetic, especially when you have a lot of struggling individuals who could see her as an idol, only to realize she was a phony. Shin Lim deserved that win rightfully. Glad she was only in the top 10.

I don’t understand how a Dutch lady singing fits ‘America’s got talent?’ What talent does America have cause Glennis can sing? The talent to cause people to migrate?

Personally, I would have stopped Heidi Klum from migrating on account of her being Heidi Klum. Karl doesn’t even know her, which means nobody should have to know her.

America’s Got Talent and its sister show Britain’s GT (as well as The X Factor UK) have been very accepting of foreign nationals, most of whom were scouted by producers. Acts like Junior New System and the Sacred Riana were alumni of Asia’s GT (and JNS previously took part in their country’s own version, Philippines’ Got Talent). The rules of AGT eligibility are as follows: i) a United States Citizen. (ii) a legal permanent resident of the United States. (iii) possess a current employment authorization card (EAD card) or am in the United States legally at the time of my… Read more »
