Winter may be coming here in Europe, but Eurovision 2017 representatives Timebelle along with SunStroke Project are bringing the heat with their new single “Tócame” (Touch me).

From Romania to Switzerland to Moldova, Timebelle have finally released their latest song after weeks of teasing, alongside legendary Eurovision alums SunStroke Project. Hot off the heels of their previous single “Heartache”, their latest opus does not disappoint, taking us to the Iberian peninsula and beyond through the synergy of the two bands.

Speaking to us at Wiwibloggs, the band said:

“Tócame is our vibration today! And it has been waiting for the right moment and the right musicians to collaborate with. Tócame is the latin blood that us Romanians have in abundance, the ‘sangre caliente’, that needs fire love and rhythm! The song was written by Miruna four years ago and produced by Soundland half a year ago.”

“Last year we were in Chisinau for a concert and during our stay there, we met with our friends, SunStroke Project. They showed us a few songs in the studio whereupon we showed them Tócame. They loved it! We immediately recorded it and started to work on the production of the track, the melody for the Epic Sax’s sexy saxophone as well as Antonio’s violin.”

“It was a constant laugh, because the boys from SunStroke spoken Russian while we spoke English. Nevertheless we did not need to communicate too much through words when our common language was music anyway. We all knew what we had to do and the job was done! Aleluia! We worked on the lyric video with graphic designer Andrei Grosi, who understood exactly what we wanted and knew how to apply our needs throughout the whole process.”

“It’s a summery song and yeah, we know it’s November but you know what they say: it’s always summer somewhere in the world. That’s our hope, that our track will transcend the borders of Europe and travel the world, especially since we’ve had such good feedback every time. Even if it’s autumn where we are, we think that it’s a sunny, fresh way to bring back summer through this track. So sit back, enjoy Tócame and get sun-kissed by its sunny vibes!”

The song starts off with the gentle plucking of the guitar, instantly reminiscent of a cool sea breeze in the evening and the hallmark of many current, Latin numbers. Quickly though, the verse and beat kick in as Timebelle’s lead vocalist, Miruna, leads the way through the song with her flawless vocals.  The lyrics are a playful exchange between a couple who “know they are perfect” for one another, as Miruna puts while gliding through the verse.

The infectious beat continues until the brakes are slammed on for the pre-chorus, which builds up to an iconic and fresh chorus.  The melody is instantly memorable and is helped along with Sergey “Epic Sax Guy” Stepanov belting out another funky saxophone solo. Up next is the second verse piloted by Sergei Yalovitsky – the lead singer of the Moldovan trio – where the song takes a new direction: rap.  The good vibes and flirtatious dialogue continue throughout the rest of the song and the seamless transitions between genre and tempo keeps the listener enrapt and enthralled by the music.

The music video too matches the song’s vivacity and joy. While neither Timebelle nor Sunstroke Project make an appearance in the video, as it’s just contains the lyrics, the colours and shapes dancing across the screen give the video its flare. Drawings of sombreros, parrots and piñatas add to the lightheartedness of the song and realise the cheeky, flirtatious message brought about by the lyrics. Finally, hues of blues, pinks, yellows and greens bring the video to life and back to the light summer months, allowing us Europeans to forget the darker, wintry days for a couple of minutes.

Ultimately, the song tells the tale of a fiery and playful romance between two love-buds and is definitely something to keep your eyes on for your next summer playlist too.

Tócame lyrics — Timbebelle ft. SunStroke Project

Original lyrics

Dame, dame tu compañía
Te quiero conocer
Me muevo sin vergüenza
Tus brazos me quieren
Sabes que soy perfecto
Perfecto para tí
Mírame, yo me muevo solo para tí.

Ay, mi ritmo es caliente
Y fuerte
Ay, mi ritmo es caliente
Y fuerte

Tócame, tócame,
Muévete, muévete!
Quiero manipularte
Como uno salvaje

Escucha mami
I need to see you move,
Tsunami
Is what I´m calling you
Oh, baby girl, how you move you move so fine
Let me get you some of that expensive wine

Perdóname, mamita, but I lost my mind,
My name is Snoop Dog,
I chase you from behind
I wanna feel you close to me
I wanna feel you close to me!

I like the drum, drum,
Shake your hips down to it!
I like the pump pump
Pump it up, just do it!
Turn off the light, turn off the light,
Let me give you some of my eo!!!

I love “Apollo”, but now Timebelle are selling their high quality to a cheap song with a cheap instrumental. Plus “Snoop Dog” in the lyrics. Really?? This rap is tasteless. They must be very desperate to think, they can deliver a “Spanish” summer/November hit. Come on, Timebelle, you deserve much more than THIS…

Eurovision 2017 was a special year for Eurovision friendships and cooperations… I mean, Kasia Mos and Norma John, JOWST/Aleksander Walmann and Manel Navarro, now also Timebelle and SunStroke Project… this is what Eurovision stands for: Unity! 🙂

I speak Spanish and this is just too much! Great effort but no… Only Americans of Latin Descent can pull this off

I kinda like it, not into latino music, even as some one who have Spanish as first language, that Spanish is a bit painful to read
