Hungary’s national A Dal is continuing its search for the Magyars’ entrant in Tel-Aviv. Eighteen acts have made it to the semifinals, and last Saturday we got to know the first four finalists. The second semifinal will take place this Saturday from 19:30 CET, but who should the second set of four finalists consist of?
Have your say in our Wiwi Poll. Listen to the nine competing acts in the first semi-final then vote for your favourites. As always, you can vote for as many acts as you like, but you can only vote once — so make it count.
Tímea Antal feat. Gergő Demko – “Kedves Világ!”
The singer-songwriter couple earned a maximum of 10 points from judge Feró Nagy with their folk-pop tune, placing third overall in the first heat with 39 points.
Fatal Error – “Kulcs”
The rock band blew away both juries and the public with their Green Day-ish punk rock anthem, topping the second heat with 45 points.
Mocsok 1 Kölykök – “Egyszer”
An indie rock ballad with a strong visual and clothing concept. It fared well, scoring 39 points in the third heat.
Bogi Nagy – “Holnap”
The youngest competitor at 16, Bogi has charmed everyone, especially the juries and even topped the third heat together with 2017 winner Joci Pápai, scoring 41 points.
Nomad – “A Remény Hídjai”
The rock band hailing from the town of Kazincbarcika delivered a solid performance on stage, scoring 35 points, thus making it to the fifth spot of the first heat.
Gergő Oláh – “Hozzád Bújnék”
The returning 2016 superfinalist made a good impression yet again and advanced on the joint first place of heat one with 41 points.
Joci Pápai – “Az Én Apám”
Hungary’s 2017 Eurovision star made a glorious return and topped heat three alongside youngster Bogi Nagy with 41 points.
Ruby Harlem – “Forró”
The funk-fusion group brought a nineties vibe onstage and resonated with the jury, scoring 40 points in heat three.
Gergő Szekér – “Madár, Repülj!”
The singer who resembles GOT’s John Snow to some fans immediately made an impact with both the juries and public with his emotional entry penned by himself, topping the first heat with 41 points alongside the aforementioned Gergő Oláh.

This semi is way lighter than the first one.
I only have 3 favourtites here, not 6 like then. They are Holnap, Madar, repulj and Kedves vilag! But I am still afraid some of them are gonna be robbed. I also kinda like Forro but prepared to sacrifice it. Kulcs will be qualified by jury 99%. Fingers crossed they won’t also qualify the most awful song of the whole NF – Egyszer.
Forro forro the win.. been playing it non-stop ?
Madár, Repülj! FTW! All of it. I am in love with that song.
Bogi and Gergo Szeker.
Gergo Olah and Papai Joci for the other spots.
I can’t stand Fatal Error but it will probably get through at the expense of one of the entries I like.
Must qualify:
1. Fatal Error – “Kulcs”
2. Joci Pápai – “Az Én Apám”
3. Bogi Nagy – “Holnap”
Judging by the points in the previous qualifying rounds, I think this time I’m going to be more lucky. Last week only The Middletonz qualified out of my favs.
what about to post such poll for Vidbir?
not a good array of songs. I pity the Hungarian public if this is what the radio playlists sound like, but I guess that’s the least of their worries. Kedves vilag seemed genuine and lovely so I voted for that one.
I second Colin. Gergo szeker for me. Can anyone tell me what this wonderful song about?
Madar, repulj! (Bird, fly!) lyrics: Bird, fly Where the wind calles you Bird, fly Where the heart pets you Bird, whistle Beautiful poems To who forgot you Whose existance is life What for it asked me to live Maybe it takes away all that Then you left and with you I would forget you to this do not be different Like a passing hypnosis With you the sky thundered, the rain is soft, tender Hiding, give You knew my everything, it was good without you, It hurt every day Bird, fly Where the wind calles you Bird, fly Where the… Read more »
Beautiful lyrics. Thanks for the translation, Colin!
It’s him about dealing with the death of his mother and letting go
*about him
Thanks to both. Now I love the song even more.
Joci, Bogi, Fatal Error and the Gergo of your choice!
Gergo Szeker’s song is a masterpiece and he should win the whole thing. Joci Papai and Fatal Error should qualify too.
I’ll take Joci, Gergo Szeker and Fatal Error.
Gergo Olah and Bogi Nogy did it for me.
I hope that my country will send The Middletonz or Gerg? Szekér to Eurovision 2019.
I’m obsessed with the songs and performances of Gergö Olah and Joci Papai! I really hope they will be in the final!!! Overall a very good selection in Hungary this year!
Joci Papai ofc , we need him in Tel Aviv
