Tonight Lithuania will decide. Eight semi-finalists will face off in the grand final of Eurovizijos dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka, to select who will represent Lithuania at Eurovision 2019. The Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of music unprofessionals — has listened to the finalists and listed our favourites. Read on to see what we think!

Antranig

1. Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio Dantys – “Mažulė”

I have absolutely no idea what is going on here. All I know is that I want some of whatever they’re smoking. SunStroke Project and Zdob și Zdub had a baby and it was adopted by LT United. “Mažulė” is so much fun and will get the party started in Tel Aviv with an outlandish performance. If Lithuania want a serious entry, “Run with the Lions” and “Light On” would be great choices but I think “Mažulė” has a distinctly Lithuanian appeal and it would be unique at Eurovision.

2. Jurijus – “Run with the Lions”
3. Monika Marija – “Light On”
4. Alen Chicco – “Your Cure”
5. Junà – “Strength of a Woman”

Rick

1. Monika Marija – “Light On”

I’m gonna be honest. At first I found that song extremely basic and boring. But it came to life and immediately surprised me when I saw Monika perform it live on stage. Of course, it’s nothing completely new or innovative, but it’s well-produced and sounds like a current radio track. This could do well and bring quality to the stage. I’m happy she has chosen this song over the much weaker “Criminal”.

2. Jurijus – “Run with the Lions”
3. Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio Dantys – “Mažulė”
4. Junà – “Strength of a Woman”
5. Alen Chicco – “Your Cure”

Lukas

1. Monika Marija – “Light On”

I really like both of Monika’s songs but in the end “Light On” has something more special because it’s more personal to the singer herself. The meaning behind the song is great and I think that a lot of people can relate to it because there is always hope at the end of the day. The chorus is very memorable and Monika Marija gives an amazing performance every single time. If Lithuania sends this entry, I would be very proud of it and happy with this result (fingers crossed).

2. Jurijus – “Run with the Lions”
3. Junà – “Strength of a Woman”
4. Alen Chicco – “Your Cure”
5. Jurgis Brūzga – “CTRL ALT DELETE”

Robyn

1. Alen Chicco – “Your Cure”

I love everything that’s happening with “Your Cure”. The verses of the song are pure 1960s pop, mixed with dramatic theatrical vocals before crashing into a modern EDM chorus. Alen is captivating performer, with a strong avant-garde look, vogueing-inspired moves and flawless vocals. It’s chaotic and like nothing else in Eurovizijos Atranka. Go on, Lithuania. Be weird. Daaaaamn.

2. Monika Marija – “Light On”
3. Jurgis DID & Erica Jennings – “Sing!”
4. Jurijus – “Run with the Lions”
5. Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio Dantys – “Mažulė”

Deban

1. Alen Chicco – “Your Cure”

Combining high fashion and ’80s electro-house, Alen Chicco’s performance piece provides a heady mix of euphoric nostalgia by straddling several art forms. Whilst doing so, he maintains his studio-perfect vocal delivery, and arresting eye-contact. Leaps ahead of anything I’ve ever seen out of Lithuania, “Your Cure” is definitely in a class of its own, and could easily place Lithuania in the top ten of Eurovision 2019.

2. Monika Marija – “Light On”
3. Jurijus – “Run with the Lions”
4. Jurgis DID & Erica Jennings – “Sing!”
5. Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio Dantys – “Mažulė”

Patrick

1. Monika Marija – “Light On”

If it were up to me there would be no national final needed and Monika would go straight to Tel Aviv. This woman is pure magic, as soon as she stepped on the stage and started to sing, I knew that this is not just a random singer — she has international star potential that Lithuania needs so badly, to secure a spot in the top ten. The girl was smart ditching one song — she made it easier for everybody. So, go Lithuania and make the right choice. Leave the light on and send her to Eurovision!

2. Jurijus – “Run with the Lions”
3. Alen Chicco – “Your Cure”
4. Junà – “Strength of a Woman”
5. Jurgis Brūzga – “CTRL ALT DELETE”

Diego

1. Jurijus – “Run with the Lions”

This is a very good song and my preferred one so far. Jurijus — with his amazing voice and register and simple staging — is spreading his message. He roars like a lion! The arrangements and the melody sound so perfect, I just want to hear the chorus again and again. It’s really touching. This is the perfect song for the perfect singer!

2. Monika Marija – “Light On”
3. Alen Chicco – “Your Cure”
4. Junà – “Strength of a Woman”
5. Jurgis DID & Erica Jennings – “Sing!”

Barnabas

1. Monika Marija – “Light On”

With “Criminal” being withdrawn, this is by far the best entry in this selection. The soulful track is giving me Cesar Sampson vibes, plus, with Monica’s voice and story behind it, it’s really a power pack which is waiting to be unleashed over Europe.

2. Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio Dantys – “Mažulė”
3. Jurgis DID & Erica Jennings – “Sing!”
4. Henry & Tommy Modric – “Neverpart”
5. Jurgis Brūzga – “CTRL ALT DELETE”

I do not even want to say my favourite because so far most of them have surprisingly lost. All I am saying is that I hope Lithuania picks correctly and chooses the most talent performer. Good luck!

I can only count Australia, Latvia, Romania, and the UK as having selected my favorites so far, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by most of the choices anyway, so we’ll see how this goes.

Hi friends!

Idk if it’s important but Ana Guerra and Aitana made their American debut a few nights ago with their single “Lo Malo” which finished third to Alfred and Amaia in Miami.

Well, I wouldn’t advice Jurijus to perform five songs with the same title. You saw how many problems Monika had with only two!

Generally wiwibloggs is absolutely disgusting when it comes to Lithuania, because for some reason anything bad they can write about their selection and songs and artists, they will. Apart that wiwibloggs is holding absolutely petty grudge against the entire nation, it’s nice to see this list of faves. Go Alen and Monika Marija. ~10 pts from Sweden 😀

Go and see how they treat Romania, how they promote the weakest songs that not stand a chance or the plagiarism, how they punish those that stand a chance, how they review their entries. Luckily, Lithuania can pick without their precious input so you should hope for the best!

One would logically say that, but ESC 2019 does anything to stop top 10 materials from winning. Pray for Monika!

I think Portugal are in danger, but Lithuania are pretty much safe. She comfortably won all the heats.

So did Jurijus and the two songs haven’t shared a semi thus far. I am so worried. I’ve never been this tense regarding ESC in my life. Never has there been a situation where most NFs have passed and none of my favorites won. Literally, not one. Today, I only hope that at least ONE of my favorites wins! Just one, pretty please with cheeries on top!

As a member of team “Criminal” I’m still sad about Monika’s decision, but I’m also very glad to have Alen Chicco in the running, cause not talking abot singer’s appearance, that’s a really good piece of music. Yet still, for tonight final I leave the light on.

Monika would be my first. None of the others would probably break into my top 20. My far second choice would be Mažule, because it’s genuinely funny. I don’t really get Run with the Lions. It’s very average. Please, Lithuania, you have ONE JOB!

Has Deban lost his mind?
Think I am with Jurijus or Juna since my favourites got eliminated in the semis. Marija’s song is good but doesn’t excite me.

I’m from Lithuania and I can assure you all that I’m 99% sure that Jurijus will go to ESC. You can clearly see from the juries’ reactions and comments and the fact that he will perform last that LRT wants him to go. It’s hard to understand for foreign people but when you watch it as a Lithuanian you can sense it in the air. It was the same with Fusedmarc. Even worse is that quite a few people are really skeptical towards Monika Marija for playing these games with two songs. One jury mamber even said in the semi-final… Read more »

It is a real possibility that Jurijus might win. He got the most televote support in his heats (more than Monika Marija with Light On on hers) and people have noticed how some of the jury members kind of brush off her. I hope I’ll have to retract my statement later on in the evening and Monika Marija will have won, but I am bracing for a Jurijus win
