Tonight it all happens in Friends Arena when Sweden will decide its act for Eurovision 2019. Earlier this week we asked wiwibloggs readers who should win the grand final of Melodifestivalen 2019. And y’all had a clear favourite, with John Lundvik topping the poll with his song “Too Late for Love”.

John Lundvik picked up 22.03% of the vote, with readers going for his gospel-infused song. Wiwibloggs reader Milla wrote: “My winner of Melodifestivalen this year. I never thought I’d say this after his “My Turn” last year. It was my fear that he would win with that dated song. So I thought he would enter this year with something of the same standard. A really nice surprise.”

In second place was Wiktoria and her song “Not With Me”. She picked up 17.77% of the vote for her third Melodifestivalen attempt. Wiwi reader MaxFowler wrote: “Yes it’s a little bit generic but it has a really important key element here: WIKTORIA, her powerful voice and the emotion that she emotes it’s just outstanding! Just marvelous!”

And comeback queen Anna Bergandahl was in third place. The Mello 2010 winner earned 11.73% of the vote for her song “Ashes to Ashes”. Wiwi reader Sabrina said, “I think it’s one of the best songs of this Melfest and Anna’s vocals are just gorgeous. But I agree that something was seriously off during the live performance. It would probably qualify if it was in the second or third semi and I’ll believe it will be in the final, but they’ll need to find a different way to make it glow, shine and burn.”

At the other end, returning artist Nano, dansband Arvingarna and Instagram sensation Bishara were the three least popular acts, suggesting they may not be picking up many points this evening.

Poll results: Who should win the final of Melodifestivalen 2019?

  1. John Lundvik – “Too Late for Love” 22.03% (1,696 votes)
  2. Wiktoria – “Not With Me” 17.77% (1,368 votes)
  3. Anna Bergendahl – “Ashes to Ashes” 11.73% (903 votes)
  4. Lisa Ajax – “Torn” 10.73% (826 votes)
  5. Jon Henrik Fjällgren – “Norrsken (Goeksegh)” 8.8% (677 votes)
  6. Hannah Ferm & Liamoo – “Hold You” 8.35% (643 votes)
  7. Mohombi – “Hello” 5.56% (428 votes)
  8. Malou Prytz – “I Do Me” 3.83% (295 votes)
  9. Lina Hedlund – “Victorious” 3.77% (290 votes)
  10. Nano – “Chasing Rivers” 3.25% (250 votes)
  11. Arvingarna – “I Do” 2.14% (165 votes)
  12. Bishara – “On My Own” 2.03% (156 Votes)

What do you think? Can John Lundvik take the Great Songbird trophy and perform in Tel Aviv? Who is your favourite to win? Leave your comments below!

I don’t mind John winning, but I’m furious at the juries for putting Wiktoria 6th and Anna 11th. o_O

I am. Especially for voting for a song with creepy undertones in such great numbers. Why?

I don’t like the results but the winner was probably the correct one.

There were better songs, but his performance really elevated his entry. I think it’s a fair result, even if I disagree a lot with what happened on the rest of the ranking.

This is not even close….How is JHF last in an international jury vote?

Because IJ NEVER votes for Swedish songs. The reason for juries to be 50% national and 50% international.

After live, I’d support John Lundvik… but it HAS to be Wiktoria! Sweden, please! 🙂

The juries already killed her chances. 🙁 It seems it will be John and I’m perfectly fine with that, even if I was rooting for Wiktoria and Anna.

John has a really good song and I don’t mind him as a winner. As I said, it would be a lot better than their last two. What bothers me is that so called professionals put Wiktoria 6th and Anna semi-last. If we are fair, most of the acts were good and this should have been a lot more diverse distribution. I really want to see Wiktoria on ESC, but I’m afraid that won’t happen unless Melfest returns to 100% televote in the future. John will most likely be a landslide winner (unless all naysayers united to vote for Nano… Read more »

Melodifestivalen is so predictable that I ll be shocked if they dont pick something safe. Lundvik will probably win and watch how juries will love it and televoting would ignore him totally

If John is nr one on the Spotify chart, probably most people from Sweden like that song, And then offcours most people will vote for the song they like the most tonight. Melfest is bigger than esc in Sweden and most people vote for a winner of the mellfest and don’t care about ESC.

Yeah, ESC is bigger looking at the number of viewers but in Sweden, Melfest is bigger. A lot of swedes care more about who wins Melfest than who we send to ESC and how the song perfoms there. If ESC were to be cancelled, Melfest would continue to be the biggest show in Sweden and the artists would still want to compete. It is a huge thing in Sweden in its own right and not just because it’s the national selection for ESC.

Actually I think you both underestimate just how much Swedes are crazy about ESC. It is the most ESC crazy nation in Europe. If you don’t do well in ESC the feel the rage. Just look at Anna Bergendahl who fled the country for a while.
We care about Melfest but we also care more about ESC

Reading from the comments, seems the televote will be tight among John, Bishara and the duo, but what about the juries? What will be their favorites?

Sandra

That will be very interesting to see tonight! Sometimes Sweden’s favorite is just too Swedish. But it seems like Lundvik is popular even outside Sweden. We’ll see what to international juries think. Very exciting!

That’s my thought too. Sweden is stumbling around in televote, another guy with a song in a similar style as one of the favourites past year, maybe not be the best way to get the public’s attention (and I say this still as someone who would put Too late for love on her Top 10). And Wiktoria is due for a chance since 2016.

I don’t get why it’s so important for people to make a point about gender. Like he’s man, so what`That matters because?
Wiktoria should win because she has the best song, not because we haven’t sent a woman for long. And she doesn’t have the best song.

John’s Song is good but I’d rather go with something different for once instead of the same cute guy singing a love pop track for once. Even if they aren’t the best songs I would rather pick Not with me or Hold you…at least they would be a breathe of fresh air for Sweden

Sweden should pick The best act. Should we pick a worse act becsuse other countries hsve ballad? IMO Russia and Netherlands are so OVERRATED.

Russia is definetly overrated that song isn’t even out yet. I absolutely LOVE The Netherlands this year it’s my number 2 so far.

I can’t call Too late for love a ballad like the Netherland’s or so it seems as Russia’s. It’s more like an edm kind of song. With some gospel. No other entry brings that to Esc what I know.

Sweden will probably agree with Lundvik, but they also have Bishara, Hanna & Liamo as their favorite accoring to Melodifestivalklubben when they asked the public yesterday on the jury rehearsal.

Denis

With the massive support Lundvik has everywhere, it looks like he’s heading to a Måns Zelmerlöw type of crushing win. John Lundvik is topping every chart and poll by a mile, leaving everybody else far behind. it really is blowing his way
If that somehow doesn’t lead to to an actual win..

Even so Sweden did better than whatever corrupt Balkan country youre supporting did. Even if it happens again Sweden will still do better than whatever Mediterreanen country you support will do.
Also just because it happened last year doesn’t mean it will happen again. If your limited brain wasn’filled with jealousy over Sweden you could have figured it yourself
