Eurovision 2019 Semi Final One

When Poland’s Tulia confirmed they were singing “Fire Of Love” on Friday, the set list for the first semi-final became complete. Their folk sound is certainly distinctive but Eurovision 2019’s semi one has a lot more to offer.

Both Cyprus and Belarus are hoping to recapture the success of “Fuego” with dance bangers “Replay” and “Like It” from Tamta and ZENA respectively. Australia’s Kate Miller-Heidke takes things to another level with her pop-opera hybrid “Zero Gravity”.

Indie-darlings Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl bring Slovenia in a new direction. And, after a couple of years in the doldrums, Greece means business with Katerine Duska’s “Better Love”.

He gained global notoriety with “Sandstorm” in the 1990s, and now Finland’s Darude hopes to recapture that success with “Look Away”, ably assisted by Sebastian Rejman. San Marino’s Serhat takes us to a disco of a different kind with “Say Na Na Na”.

Serbia’s Nevena Božović and Montenegro’s D mol each deliver varying degrees of Balkan flavour with “Kruna” and “Heaven”. Fans of male pop can choose from Czech cheeky chappies Lake Malawi with “Friend Of A Friend”, Belgian brooder Eliot with “Wake Up” and Scandi-crooner Victor Crone singing “Storm” for Estonia”.

Rock enthusiasts can find solace in the techno/punk of “Hatrið mun sigra” from Iceland’s Hatari or the gravelly tones of Georgia’s Oto Nemsadze with “Sul tsin iare”. Meanwhile, last year’s hosts Portugal provide some avant-garde rhythms courtesy of  Conan Osíris and “Telemóveis”. Hungary’s Joci Pápai “Az én apám” also relishes in ethnic sounds.

Precisely who will qualify is anyone’s guess. But who do you want to see make it? You can listen to each of this year’s first semi-final contestants below. Then vote for your favourites in our poll. You can vote for as many contestants as you like, but you can only vote ONE time, so make it count.

This poll closes, just ahead of the first rehearsals in May. It’s up to you, Europe. Start voting now!

Who should win the first semi-final of Eurovision 2019?

The rigging of this poll is obvious. Whoever has done this seems to just be a scared individual who cannot handle criticism. This is no shade to the Georgian song, which has its own merits (even thou I can’t see them), but was never going to win the first semi final, let alone the whole competition. Just take a look at the poll on oddseurovision.com. Is the song good enough to be in the top 10? And if you think it is, good for you, but understand that songs always criticized, and if you cannot handle criticism, ignore it. Focus… Read more »

Chronicle of the songs to bring by house. Concerning the Eurovision phenomenon. Yesterday, by chance, I attended what are now called the Eurovision finals. I prefer classical music, as eclectic as I am I was to watch, even by the imaginary legacy of my childhood. What immediately highlighted me was the copy past of the various little pink pop songs, all the same, the same format, the bad taste of the presentations, the bad English, since most of the countries lost their cultural linguistic identity. Suddenly, there is the winner of last year, which was even in Portugal, after the… Read more »

I’m probably not someone who should be doing this. Not really a prediction and I’m not exactly trying to push all the favs towards the final positions, just what I personally would find fun and entertaining. 1. Cyprus 2. Montenegro 3. Czech Republic 4. Finland 5. Slovenia 6. Belarus 7. Hungary 8. Poland 9. Serbia 10. San Marino 11. Island/Australia 12. Belgium 13. Estonia 14. Georgia 15. Greece 16. Portugal 17. I would like for Australia, Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, Iceland and Slovenia to go through. I don’t really care of Iceland’s song, but I can see the appeal and I want Iceland to do well. I’d also like to see Finland go through becasue who doens’t want to see their country in the final.

I think Greece, Cyprus, Iceland or Belgium will win semi-final 1.

I’m pretty sure the following countries are going to qualify: Greece, Cyprus, Belgium, Iceland, Hungary, Australia and Estonia.

Serbia, Slovenia, San Marino, Portugal, Czech Republic, Belarus and Poland will battle it out for the remaining 3 spots in the final.

I think Georgia, Montenegro and Finland will not qualify.

With no offense to Georgians…
BUT this phenomenon that they are voting massively
their country’s entry every year (for years now) is not right or fair…
Currently Georgia is 2nd with over 3000 casted votes…
I suppose that when the poll closes on May,
the winner of the 1st SF, according to the Wiwibloggs readers, (obviously) will be Georgia…. I rest my case…..

I cant understand this, I am Georgian and yes I vote for Oto, and the same can do the people from other contries as well, whi it is not fair, go a head and vote for your country, the rules are the same for every country here!

I have to ask, did you vote for Oto because you really think his song is (among) the best or because he is representing your country? I’m not judging, I just try to understand. Personally, I vote for best song(s), regardless of the country. For example, my country (Croatia) had an amazing song in 2016 and I don’t recall, but I might have voted for Nina’s Lighthouse in the Wiwi poll (It was in my top 5 of the year). This year, Roko’s song is… well, let’s put it politely and say I’d never vote for that.

Dear, this poll tries to give a prediction about the televote on May,that night you are not allowed to vote for your own country! So what is the point for you to vote for Georgia in this poll? The result is.fake, the only thing is that you ruined the whole poll! The real results so far are 1–>Cyprus 2—>Greece —-> Portugal

GEORGIA is last! The only thing that you managed to do is to make us realizei that georgian fans have been in a massive hysteria here!

Try to understand that the reason the poll exists is for fans to get an idea of how many people will vote for your country! If you can’t vote for your country on the Eurovision but you vote in the poll, we’re not getting accurate data! No one wins anything from this poll, it won’t change people’s feelings on the night..

Well, don’t you think there can be more than one candidate to win. I think Cyprus, Greece, Portugal, and Belgium could equally have chance to win the Semi. Yes there will be one winner but it can be four horse race for me. For you it can be one. For someone else it can be 17 if s/he believes all the songs are amazing and they all can have a shot at winning the semi 🙂
