It was already clear that Moldova wanted to turn up the drama this year when they selected Anna Odobescu’s big belter of a ballad “Stay” for Eurovision 2019. And after her win in O melodi pentru Europa, the Moldovan team has been hard at work to nip and tuck their entry so Anna can best make her country proud.

Recently Moldova revealed the official revamped version of “Stay” along with the official music video. Nodding to wealth and high-class living, the music video screams luxury. It shows Anna in a lavish mansion yearning for her lover who speeds off in a huff. The video reads more like a short film and has it all: romance, rain shots, tension, desire, woman singing solo at a table while pressing against her temples. Telenovela realness!

The song, written by the team of Georgios “Gorgi” Kalpakidis, Thomas Reil, Jeppe Reil, and Idol contestant Maria Broberg, now features deeper production — a classic Eurovision sound booms across the three minutes, making it much richer than it was at O Melodie Pentru Europa. It all concludes with a big climax from the Moldovan diva. This could be a moment!

Anna counts a hidden weapon to help her reach the top: Sunstroke Project. Her husband Alexandru Vdovicenco gave reporters in Chisinau all the tea.

“We have a team of real professionals. As for the show, there is still nothing fixed. A country in the former USSR wants to help us in this ‘adventure’, but it depends very much on whether we can find funding to support all the expenses. The guys from Sunstroke Project will join us in Israel, they will support us.”

Sunstroke Project are, of course, among Moldova’s most renowned acts and placed third at Eurovision 2017.

Moldova will sing in the first half of the second semifinal, vying for one of ten spots for the grand final. The country has managed to place in Top Ten two years running.

What do you think? Do you like the new revamped version of “Stay”? Do you think Anna has a fighting chance in the semifinal? Let us know in the comments below!

With “Gravity” Moldova at least would qualify. It had a huge potential for a great show. Moldavian “Mr Unicorn”.

I like this song a lot, i think it’s very underrated, but it’s the same kind of song like Albania, so who’s gonna make it to the final?

This song can do well even for the simple fact that is no one like it this year.

Croatia, North Macedonia, Israel, Albania… classy ballads all of them. There are some other ballads I have not named…

But it’s the only classic-style pop R&B ballad in their semi, aside from Greece in SF1. There’s a point.
