Along with host country Israel, the Big Five — France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom — get an automatic spot in the grand final of Eurovision 2019. They drop a lot of euros on the contest, and we thank them for helping keep the contest afloat. We used to roll our eyes at the jokes these nations would send to the contest. But in recent years they have been earning their keep.
Italy’s Mahmood has perhaps attracted the most buzz. After winning Sanremo with “Soldi”, he broke into the Spotify global charts and sparked a national political debate which made international headlines.
France’s Bilal Hassani has also been the subject of much discussion, with”Roi” performing strongly in the streaming charts. Spain’s Miki gets the fiesta started with “La Venda”, while Germany’s S!sters are doing it for themselves with the feminist anthem “Sister”.
The gang is completed by two very different ballads from the United Kingdom and Israel. Michael Rice’s “Bigger Than Us” is full of hope and love, whereas Kobi Marimi’s “Home” brims with pain and loss.

Can somebody explain me that? I think that the song of Israel is not bad but it’s not my cup of tea. However, here is the best song of the Big Five+Host but in My Eurovision Scoreboard is in the last place of Big Five+Host.

My faves are Israel and Italy. The others are Okay but the worst for me is Spain, I just can’t listen the song to the end, it gets so boring and messy/noisy. Having said that I think that Spain won’t do to bad it is just my taste.
I voted for all song but Germany and Israel the two are bottom 5 in my top 41.

Seriously, you’re so annoying. You know very well that ‘Home’ is nowhere near being the best of these songs. We’re bothered, because this poll doesn’t reflect the reality. Check youtube rankings, check the eurovision scoreboard app, check other people’s comments here and you’ll know where Israel’s song stands compared to other songs. You had a beautiful song last year, and it deserved the praise and recognition it got. Now let the other more deserving songs have that this year and stop being so egocentric.

@gilgip maybe I didn’t explain myself very well. I didn’t mean that ‘Home’ was the worst of these songs. No way. Just it’s not the very best and also Italy being the fan favorite, makes it clear that Israel can’t be first (and by almost double the votes) without being voted massively by Israeli people or Kobi’s fans. This makes the poll completely useless. Also its annoying when certain people are very arrogant about it, and can’t accept that for many people this is not the best song out of this bunch.

Nobody, it’s quite obvious that there shouldn’t be anymore such thing as automatic qualifiers and only the host country should be a lock for the final.
Every year there are countries who stay on the SF and that are better than most of the big 5.
I agree with this 100% – the big 5 is ridiculous. They can’t spread the cost among 40 countries a little better and make an equal playing field?
Small countries are already considering the costs too much, hence places like Luxembourg not participating. Raising it for 5 extra places in the final would surely make some of them withdraw.
Automatic qualifier is bad for them though, people hear the song only in the final and its not enough to get into your head. The big 5 pay money and very rarely win, the last time it was Germany.

Last year Big5 + the host were extremely overrated(except Spain). This time it looks much better to me. Miki, Bilal & S¡sters were my favs in the preselections and I’m a crazy fan of Alessandro since Dimentica(still can’t believe he won).

My favorites are Israel and Italy, at the same level, I enjoy them for different reasons. I dislike all other entries with the exception of Michael Rice’s voice.

Italy and Israel! very different songs, but both are great with professional singers you can trust. Spain and France are nice, but i’m nervous about the live vocals and the stage performance. Lastly it is the UK and Germany that i just couldn’t get into.
None of these is my overall fav but I still love Italy and Germany (unpopular opinion I guess) and I also like Israel a lot.
Spain had a be revamp and France and the UK lack something for me. I can’t really say, what that is, and I don’t really dislike them, but they’re just kinda meh for me.
