We’re moving slowly towards May and the Eurovision bubble is filled with people looking into their crystal balls to determine who will have the best staging and which countries will come up short. Duncan Laurence sits atop the Eurovision betting odds with his song “Arcade”. And now the Dutch favourite hopes to build on that momentum by delivering a knock-out live performance at Eurovision In Concert in Amsterdam.
The hometown favourite has RSVP’d for the show. He’ll join an all-star cast of recent confirmations that include Eurovision 1998 winner Dana International, Ireland’s “22” singer Sarah McTernan and Iceland’s Hatari! It’s getting crowded and we love it.
Dana International recently dazzled on stage during the Melodifestivalen 2019 grand final. Her performance in Amsterdam is no doubt a major coup and will add plenty of glitz to the event. As the first openly transgender woman to win Eurovision, she holds a unique place in history. She’s also currently rumoured to be an interval act in Tel Aviv, so perhaps she’s getting in a bit of extra practice in before then.
Hatari — considered a dark horse with an outside shot of taking it all — are riding a wave of good fortune. They recently won the ‘Performance of the Year‘ prize at the Icelandic Music Awards. We can’t wait to see what BDSM fantasy they throw down at AFAS Live.
Sarah McTernan is singing a song originally intended for a male voice. But she will definitely make it her own on stage in The Netherlands.
The acts will be supported by some spectacular guests.
They include Nicole (Germany, 1982), pre-show artist Justine Pelmelay (Netherlands, 1989), Rosita of the group ‘Harmony’ (Netherlands, 1978) and pre-show artist Sieneke (Netherlands, 2010).
The show will be presented by Dutch Eurovision specialist Cornald Maas and singer Marlayne (Netherlands, 1999).

And Serhatfrom San Marino will hope to make us shout “Say Na Na Na”.

Last year, 31 acts from the contest took to the stage in Amsterdam and organisers will hope to match that success. For the second year running the venue for the concert will be AFAS Live. In 2018, the event moved from its traditional home at the Melkweg to celebrate 10 years of slayage.
AFAS Live has a capacity of 6,000 people.

When Husniye, the head of Azerbaijani delegation was giving an interview she said that this year they won’t be doing much of a promo tour. They’ll more focus on social media. Which I think is a right move, but there is not much action going on on Chingiz’s social media pages and he should attend such big Eurovision events. Where else would the media meet and interview him?
But I’ve heard he’ll join the one in London.
Maybe their focus is on paying youtubers for positive reactions

i can say Mahmood’ love life currently the most gossiped theme in local pop media ,even political sites and news papers posting the pics of Mahmood and Lorenzo’ public affectionate moments , though the latest pics of guys together been pretty devastating… people are still guessing what was the cause of huge drama between boys in the middle of the street , why Lorenzo was crying and shaking and looked so desperate to prove something while Mahmood stayed calm but very glum and sad , i hope they didn’t break up 🙁
Since Mahmood has won Sanremo publlic,politics and medias were talking about his etnic roots, sex orientation and love life a lot more than his song, which is sad, since ‘Soldi’ is one the best entry this year, i wish him all good, both, in his career and private life, can’t wait to see him slay on Tel Aviv stage !

The only ones that haven’t confirmed for anything yet are Armenia (maybe?), Australia (probably not, given how busy Kate is with Muriel’s Wedding and preparations), Croatia, Cyprus, Italy, Moldova (would doubt she’d skip any), Portugal, and Slovenia.
Croatia is going to skip like they did last time with Jacques. He is now mentor of that boy. Conan said that he doesn’t mind being last at eurovision, so I guess he’ll skip too. Kate too.
Salvador skipped entirely for obvious reasons and Claudia/Isaura only did Spain, so I figure it won’t change. It’s also hard to tell if Duncan will do any shows besides Amsterdam (I know Waylon only did Amsterdam last year).
I think only the UK and Ireland are confirmed for pretty much all of them at this point.

As well they should. It’s also helpful showing them off to countries who might be more hesitant to vote for them. (Russia is in Ireland’s semi, after all.)

Moscow’s cool this year cuz last year it was mostly Eastern countries (Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, I think some former competitors from Belarus and Bulgaria too) but this year the UK and Ireland are both confirmed for Moscow. Of the top ten last year, three of them didn’t go to any pre-parties (Eleni, Ermal/Fabrizio, and Elina). The rest went to at least one. I’m especially impressed that Israel and Australia have recently made an effort to do them seeing how far away they already are.
