This year Georgia will send a song in Georgian to Eurovision for a second time.
And now Georgian broadcaster GPB has released the music video for Oto Nemsadze’s entry “Keep on Going”, composed by Roman Giorgadze, with lyrics by Diana Giorgadze.
Speaking about the video, Oto says the main focus is on unity:
“Seeing barbed wire is not easy for me as being a representative of the region which is occupied at present. I think that the music video will not leave anyone indifferent. Its main message is that there are no divided regions in Georgia. Soon or later, these barbed wires will be destroyed and we will all sing together.”
The wires in the video create a choppy effect, while Oto works a moody black cowl.
The music video was shot in different parts of the country. Giorgi Ebralidze directed the music video for the Georgian entry. Singers from the Ensemble “Shavnabada”, Iriao member Misho Javakhishvili and more than 50 other people are featured in the video.
OTO NEMSADZE – “KEEP ON GOING”
“Keep On Going” is a rock ballad that comes with plenty of aggression which comes across in the video. Oto has a scratchy quality in his voice that works well with the genre and the clip works well with that too.
Overall the music video has a strong patriotic spirit: It expresses Georgian strength, calls for an end to war and for the establishment of peace.
WHO IS OTO NEMSADZE?
Oto is a 29-year-old musician. He won Georgian Idol in 2011 and in 2017, he competed in Georgia’s national final as part of Oto Nemsadze & Group Limbo. Their song “Dear God” placed tenth. This year, Oto managed to win Georgian Idol and automatically became Georgia’s representative in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.

Is it just me or does this not sound so bad anymore?
I like the studio version of this song and the Georgian Idol version as wel. I think the EiC version could have been better a because the chorus just sounded like a bunch of mumbling. Gods luck to Oto from Texas.
Their NF performance video really did this song an injustice.
Couple the improved instrumentation on this version and his vocal in Amsterdam and you have a pretty decent entry here.

So what I understood: There’s storm and fog. Oto is for no reason staring at the sea, having fun time with his creepy backing singers. Then he thinks “You know what? It’s freaking cold here” as goes away. Then he sees a fence and thinks “Crap. How do I get out?”. The whole village comes to watch what the hell is he doing on the beach during the storm. How is this one not a political song?
Tearing down a border is political. Tearing down any old fence is not. So as a halfway measure, they will just say it’s an historical border. Maybe from 1944? 🙂

1944 was a political song too and it is was still allowed to enter. It seems like the ‘no politics’ rule has been loosened.
Well, Oto comes from Shida Kartli, a region, whose half is controlled by Georgia, and half occupied by Russian troops. I think it’s pretty clearly shown in the video.
its something personal for Oto in this song, you can also definitely feel the emotion and passion when he sings live
Clever. A “peace peace” song that sounds like a an agressive call to arms. It’s a powerful video.
Great video! This is one of my favourites of the year. Very powerful and emotional, and as always with Georgia – extremely underrated.
