Teen dream supreme!

Belarus’ first rehearsal was a display of pure pop professionalism. Zena the warrior princess hit the stage like a seasoned performer.

She sounded great, she looked great and bar one false start in a rehearsal appeared to have few problems. Zena’s look is urban graffiti girl about town in Minsk. The outfit pairs a crop top with graffiti slogans with co-ord shorts and thigh high lace up boots.

She’s joined on stage by backing dancers who bust out break dancing moves while Zena herself focus on nailing the vocal. There had been questions about her vocal, but she laid them to rest today, hitting the high note. The final run through added steam cannon effects.

The screens are cast in bright colours that reflect the lively nature of “Like It”.

She has some ability, but she’s saddled with a dud (but is that her man or the song)?

Am I gonna like it? No.
However, well done Zena for showing talent on Day One, despite some apparent early difficulties. By the end of the rehearsal, I was impressed.

I feel uncomfortable hearing a 16-year-old girl singing about how some boy is gonna like having sex with her. Pass.

Zena improved a lot from the national final performance. The energy is still there, but now with more control. Though I must say I don’t like the aesthetics at all. As Skiwalko already pointed, I feel there’s a total lack of concept about it. That, by the way, is also a problem I have with the song itself.

It exceeds my expectations, but do they have any voting friends here? Ukraine gone, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia in the other semi. I really don’t see this qualifying, even with great staging.

Prostitute boots are on fashion this year for what it looks like. Nice staging and choreo, but still feels more a JESC entry than an adult one.

What’s wrong with hooker boots? They’re awesome.

It’s clear that they’re going for younger demographic votes here. Zena seems quite comfortable on stage, but the visuals are just messy, I don’t see any well-thought concept here. And the outfit looks like a victim of car accident. It seems that Belarus needs a couple more rehearsals to work out a coherent performance.

I still find the song annoying. It is what it is… sorry. BUT, Zena is really good on stage and I can possibly see this climbing up a few spots in my revamped Top 41. Ahead of Finland and Montenegro, probably.

This is my guilty pleasure of the year. Yes it’s generic and the producer is a CUrreNT but it’s catchy, Zena isn’t a bad performer and I like that, ‘bippity bip bop boop’ part at the end of the chorus.

The small clip looked bright! This will do better than people think I reckon! It’s pushing towards qualification!!
