At the national final in Lithuania, Jurij Veklenko was a ray of light in a sombre stage show.

And in Lithuania’s first rehearsal at Eurovision 2019, Jurij got some help on that front.

That’s because Lithuania’s screens focus on brightening the dark stage.

Lights pulse behind him, spotlights illuminate him from all angles, and a slew of closeup shots on his face put his warmth as a performer front and centre.

Admittedly, initial run throughs left people cold, but by the final run through Lithuania had started to pull things back.

This is a subtler show than others we’ve seen today, but Jurij’s vocal was fully put together.

Greater use of the light effects that are already in the performance, including projections, and Lithuania could be onto something.

Nothing wrong about it. But they had a low-key entry and haven’t even tried anything to improve it. I still struggle with the notion that someone would vote for it after watching all kind of different performances through the night. Unless they really like the country.

I think it could have been stage better, but it’s not bad as it is rigth now. I was expecting this when Jurij said they were not going to change the staging. Anyway, the package is still much better than people think. It could be a borderline qualifier/non-qualifier (around 9th/12th). Hopefully, Lithuania will manage to qualify.

Shame there’s not a real lion on stage

ESC fans: How many teeth do you have?
Jurij: Yes.

It’s decent but feels like it’s one of those Melodifestivalen songs that ends up 5th in the semi. They are not using it’s full potential!

Still like it. Nice-looking guy…singing nice song…nicely.
Lithuania are probably sitting around 12th and just need a couple of entries to have some problems.

He looks nervous. I actually like this song, hope he’ll improve. Staging rather bland tho

I would make a comment, but I don’t really have anything to add to this one. So here’s my non-comment.

Too simple, he’s getting lost amongst all the props and choreography around him
