mariette-for-you-melfest-2018

She’ll compete in the third semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2020 on February 15 with “Shout It Out”.

And ahead of this year’s opening show on Saturday 1 February, our readers are definitely excited to find out what exactly Mariette wants to shout about. They have voted her the contestant they are most excited for in Sweden’s national selection for Eurovision 2020.

Mariette is the Melodifestivalen 2020 act our readers are most excited for

We launched our poll back on 5 December, and have counted a total of 3,371 votes since then. Mariette won the day with 441 votes — or nearly 13.08% of all those cast.

Ahead of her fourth attempt at snatching the Melfest crown, she told wiwiblogger Tobias what her song will be like.

“It’s organic instruments, high tempo, it’s a bit edgier, a bit raw, a bit more attitude,” she says. “But yeah, it’s different, but at the same time it feels almost like old me.”

Melodifestivalen 2020: Other favourites

In second place is FELIX SANDMAN, who last appeared in Melodifestivalen back in 2018 with the chart conquering “Every Single Day”. He finished second, despite having to take the Andra Chansen route.

It appears that appearance really whet our readers’ appetite, as they handed him 393 votes — around 12% — proving that his momentum hasn’t slowed.

The only other act to earn more than 300 votes is two-time veteran Anna Bergendahl, the Eurovision 2010 star who rose from the ashes in 2019. She earned 319 votes — or just under 10%.

Mello returnees Robin Bengtsson and Dotter round out the top five, nabbing more than 7.5% of the vote each.

He’s the Melfest 2017 winner who secured Sweden yet another top five finish in Kyiv with “I Can’t Go On”. Clearly, he can. This time he’ll “Take A Chance”.

Singer-songwriter — full name Johanna “Dotter” Jansson — made her Melfest debut as an artist in 2018, but was a shock non-qualifier in the semis.

You can see the full results of our poll down below. Which acts have you the most excited so far? Let us know in the comments.

Sweden is probobly the most successful country of the last decade. Negative comments about Sweden’s entries is pretty much meaningless. Statistics show something different. But other countries have sent more competative acts the past years, so Sweden is not so certain of a top 5 placing no more. Well done Europe! With a little help from swedes sometimes, but we all know that. I don’t like it either. Bring your own people!

Have to admit, I only clicked on this article to read Polegend in the comment section.
Guess he finally broke the Wiwibloggs filters when he saw this.

I like a number of the acts, but the one I’m actually “excited” for is Nanne.

Darkhorses: William Strid, Faith Kakembo. Mariette can win IF she dont have a typical pop song. Someting different.

Mariette is the act I am least excited for. Her entries are weaker with every attempt.

Anna and Sonja.
Where is sister girl ‘Weißbrot’ this year? She made the comments section a lot more interesting.

Isn’t this Mariette tired of competing in vain? It’s obvious Sweden is into male vocalists… Rarely a female solo… Not mentioning duos or groups… Never! So Felix will probably represent Sweden, and it will be another flop, I can’t wait!

If a female wins this year it wont be Mariette, as much as you want to make her happen we dont like her. There is a bigger chance of Anna or Hanna winning than her 🙂

Hope for a good song for Anna. Last year she was my winner but was a bit underrated in the Final.
And hope the same for Mariette, it’s time to see this talented woman on a Eurovision stage.
