He hit the number one spot with his debut Melodifestivalen entry “Every Single Day”.

And if early streaming results are anything to go by, Felix Sandman‘s entry this year may be on a similar trajectory.

That’s because “Boys with Emotions” has debuted at #11 on the Spotify Sweden Top 50 this morning. The song is averaging over 90,000 daily plays and sits only 4284 streams adrift of the Top Ten.

In total “Boys with Emotions” has been streamed over 144,000 times since it was released to Spotify on Saturday night. Felix may have to fight through Andra Chansen, but he does at least have another chart hit on his hands.

Felix Sandman #11 on Spotify Sweden Top 50

In a change from recent years, Felix is the only Melodifestivalen Semi-Final 1 act on the Sweden Top 50. Four of the other acts are however in the Top 100.

Malou Prytz, who also advanced to Andra Chansen, lags way behind. Her entry “Ballerina” has only managed 38,306 streams. This could indicate Malou placed fourth during the Semi-Final. She sits at #88.

Fifth place Sonja Aldén lags further behind on streams. “Sluta aldrig gå” has clocked up 18,277 plays since being knocked out in the Semi-Final. She’s also the only act outside the Top 100.

Although OVÖ placed behind Sonja, they’ve actually had more success on Spotify. “Inga problem” has been streamed 32,373 times since release and sits at 95. Last place Suzi P is one spot behind at 96.

The results are a marked contrast from a few years ago. In 2017, for example, all five non-finalist acts from Semi-Final 1 charted on the Spotify Sweden Top 50.

The Mamas and Robin Bengtsson perform will have to wait until after Andra Chansen to see how their winning entries perform on Spotify.

Melodifestivalen 2020 week ahead

Melfest continues this week. Semi-Final 2 will take place in Gothenburg at the Scandinavium. Seven more acts will take to the stage on Saturday night.

Lyrics are released on Wednesday at 3pm CET, 1-minute song snippets follow on Thursday at 1:30pm CET and rehearsal clips appear on SVTPlay later on at 9pm.

for what it’s worth (if anyone is still checking this article), Malou was up to 61st place on the Spotify list and Felix down to 18. All others are out of the top 100 and only Malou seems to have improved her placement.

Did anyone else look at this article and think, “I really wanna listen to the song called “Goat””.

So glad the song is out. By far the best audio of the entire season yet.

But Malou and ballerina are closely contesting Boys with emotions on YouTube in terms of views and have a much higher like/dislike ratio !!!

I think it’s actually Malou who was pipped by Robin to go direct to Final and Felix was close behind .

All 4 were pretty close
The new voting system means votes don’t necessarily mean points !!!

Just 5000 votes from the oldest category could be 12 points , whereas 5000 votes from teen would just mean 1 point !!!

Well the voters have been divided into 8 groups based on age !!
And the person who who gets the most votes from a particular group gets their 12 points and the act getting 2nd highest votes from an age group gets 10 and so on !!!

The points from all age groups are then added and we get the final score

It’s the acts which the top two scores that go to final and acts with 3rd/4th place get Andra chansen

I think he’ll be top 2 by the end of the week. Getting no.1 this week will be hard since the no.1 spot has a pretty big momentum here in sweden right now

Very pleasant seeing half of the songs in the Top 10 being in Swedish. Including Top 1.
About Felix. I don’t think his song will have the impact that Every Single Day had in 2018

Im not sure that means it will be a big hit. Every
Single Day debuted at number 1 and stayed there for a long time. Debuting at 11 isn’t ultimate. Seems like it’s very divisive here too..

“every single day” didn’t debut and no.1 either. I think it was 12th or something

I wonder if this elimination won’t actually help Felix in the long game. The performance in the semi was all over the place, taking attention from the song itself. Now it will become a hit and maybe more people will like it when AC comes. I’m not saying he’ll win Melfest, but he can still get to the final as a dark horse, which normally doesn’t happen if you don’t go DTF.

I’m not all sure about these numbers. Sandman had the only track on official melfest spotify list the first couple of hours. Prytz song was not even released until 12 o’clock on the Sunday. So obviously he had time to get a lot of play count.

The fact that this is more streamed than Lewis capaldi, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, and just in the zone of juice wrld makes this achievement amazing

Well not really. Lewis Capaldi, Dia Lipa, Billie Eillish’s, etc… songs are known for a long time now. It’s normal that they slowly go down in the tops. But it’s a good thing for him that he’s “high” in the top when you see that Malou is only 88th.
I loved both of them and I hope they will go to final.
