Five acts take the stage on Saturday 8 February in the hope of advancing to the grand final of Söngvakeppnin 2020 and thus get the chance to represent Iceland in Rotterdam. We have a wide range of music here and its rather difficult to chose from this eclectic bunch of both well-known musicians and relative newcomers.

The format is no different than before, with two songs qualifying from each heat as well as — we assume — a wild card chosen by a professional jury. The latter has not been confirmed just yet, but we’ll act as though it has.

All the songs will be performed in Icelandic in the semi-finals, so we’re only showing the Icelandic version in this poll, with DIMMA, Daði og Gagnamagnið, Kid Isak and Matti Matt being the acts that will be keeping everything in Icelandic should they make it to the final.

But if you want to hear the rest of the songs in English as well, you can listen to our Spotify playlist.

Hatari won all our Iceland polls with a landslide last year and now we’re eager to know who you think should qualify from semi-final one of Söngvakeppnin 2020.

As always, you can vote for as many acts as you like. But you can only vote one time. So, make it count!

Semi-final one of Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin 2020

DIMMA – “Almyrkvi”

Elísabet Ormslev – “Elta þig”

Brynja Mary – “Augun þín”

Kid Isak – Ævintýri

Ísold og Helga – Klukkan tifar

Who should win semi-final one of Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin 2020?

I couldn’t choose. They are easy to listen, but very average. I think the best option is in the 2nd SF.

Kinda really enjoy Dimma’s song the most from this semi, Elisabet and Brynja are good as well. That said my overall winner(based solely on the studio… meaning live performances can change opinion) is in semi two. So I guess Dimma are my winner for semi one as of now.

I really vibe with it. augun bin isn’t my winner (that goes to gagnamagnid), but I would still be happy with this being Iceland’s entry 🙂

Elísabet and Kid Isak are my favourites here. They are also the top two in the poll at the moment, yey. I think that’s the first time that has happened so far this season!

I have just listened to Iceland’s songs, and I must say that Oculus Videre is one of the best if not the best song this eurovision season for now.. hope it wins

It probably will win. Honestly it almost feels like having the national final is pointless because there is a clear winner. I felt the same way about Hatari and Songvakeppnin last year.

But surprises can still happen. Ma tana was the most viewed video for the Albanian national final, but it still lost out to Shaj. But again, that was because there was only jury voting, and the Icelandic national finals has both jury and televote, so that could help Iva based on views (Seriously, it is still rapidly getting views while the rest of the songs have basically stagnated—I hope this does result in her winning, but you never know). Don’t forget that last year, most of the fan favorites did not win the national finals to go onto Eurovision. Anything… Read more »

Elisabet is amazing, her song is addictive! Such a great dance beat and with an epic production can be seriously elevated.

Someone among Dimma, Elisabet and Isold and Helga. Nothing that excites me, but all quite pleasant, actually.

There’s nothing bad here but only Elísabet Ormslev has a song of the same quality as those that are in SF2. I hope that she gets through here. Kid Isak the best of the rest I suppose?

2 qualifiers, right? Isold & Helga are my highest ranked act in this semi, followed by Kid Isak. However, semi 2 is the stronger one IMHO.
