Elin And The Woods We Are As One Melodi Grand Prix Semi Final Five

The last semi-final of Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2020 is almost upon us. And ahead of Saturday’s Eurovision selection show we can reveal that one act has the backing of most of our readers. If their taste is to be trusted, Elin & The Woulds should comfortably qualify for the MGP 2020 grand final with “We Are As One”.

Elin & The Woods is your favorite to win semi-final five Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix with “We Are As One”

A total of 666 votes were counted and verified and 291 of you want Elin & The Woods to march through to the final. The duo, last seen in the 2017 competition, achieved 43.69% of all votes cast.

The duo’s biggest competition comes from Liza Vassilieva and her LGBT anthem “I Am Gay”. It came second with 29.28% of the vote share or 195 votes.

The remaining two acts haven’t been that lucky.

While Kevin Boine earned a respectable 22.67% or 151  votes for the yodel-tastic “Stem på mæ”, Jenny Jensen could only muster 29 votes.

That’s a disappointing 4.35% for “Mr. Hello”. Will we be saying goodbye on Saturday?

To be honest, this is a pretty lackluster semifinal.

A nice song…but it’s clear that she’s been revealed last because of her fame (understandable if NRK wants to build hype). Deserves to have qualified directly but Ulrikke’s song is now the clear winner in terms of quality and emotion. I just hope that people favour Tone because if they do it’ll be on the basis of celebrity rather than the music.

But out of those four his song probably has the least appeal amongst fans- while I like the genre mashup some may be put off. A gender imbalance would only hurt the girls if they had similar sounding songs, and Wild, Attention and Hurts Sometimes sound very different.

Vote for Me is the catchiest one, but it’s trying to re-do Lithuania 2006 and much like them, gets repetitive and annoying. I Am Gay says it wants to normalize being gay, but does so in an odd way. Saying a normal statement for three minutes like it’s something shocking, but without a dash of irony, is quite boring. Mr. Hello is doing the same mistake as Start of… Read more »
