This Saturday, nine finalists will face the televote at Latvia‘s Supernova 2020. But before that, wiwibloggs readers also had their say on who they think should win Supernova and represent Latvia at Eurovision 2020. And there was one very clear favourite.

Topping the poll with an impressive 42.97% of the votes is Samanta Tīna. 2020 is her sixth attempt to represent Latvia at Eurovision and wiwibloggs readers are saying that the time is right for her anthem “Still Breathing”.

In second place is another familiar Supernova face. Edgars Kreilis picked up 17.75% of the vote for his song “Tridymite” that uses the crystal as a metaphor for a relationship.

In third place is Katrīna Dimanta who previously represented Latvia at Eurovision 2014 as part of the folk group Aarzemnieki. This time her solo effort “Heart Beats” picked up 7.97% of the vote.

Rounding out the top four is Miks Dukurs. His romantic song “I’m Falling For You” picked up 5.55% of the vote.

The last 12% of the vote was split between Katrīna Bindere (3.87%), Seleste (3.23%), Bad Habits (3.19%) and Driksna (1.5%). While this might not bode well for these acts, as we’ve seen in the past, anything can happen in the live national final.

Poll Results: Who Should Win the Grand Final of Latvia’s Supernova 2020?

  1. Samanta Tīna – “Still Breathing” 42.97% (944 votes)
  2. Edgars Kreilis – “Tridymite” 17.75% (390 votes)
  3. Annna – “Polyester” 13.97% (307 votes)
  4. Katrīna Dimanta – “Heart Beats” 7.97% (175 votes)
  5. Miks Dukurs – “I’m Falling For You” 5.55% (122 votes)
  6. Katrīna Bindere – “I Will Break Your Heart” 3.87% (85 votes)
  7. Seleste – “Like Me” 3.23% (71 votes)
  8. Bad Habits – “Sail With You” 3.19% (70 votes)
  9. Driksna – “Stay” 1.5% (33 votes)

Supernova 2020 results will be decided by 100% televote

Just days out from the grand final, broadcaster LTV has confirmed that the winner of Supernova 2020 will be decided entirely by the public televote.

The show will still include an expert jury who will give their opinion about the performances. But then it comes to voting, only the public vote will be used. The public will be able to vote via phone, SMS text message and an internet vote.

The grand final of Supernova 2020 screens this Saturday, February 8th at 20:25 CET.

Still breathing is all over the place….it’s neither here nor there! It’s scary

Wow, Samanta Tina really sells this one live and the backing vocalists do some great job too. I also love the fact that she decided to make a complete U-turn compared to her previous efforts and I really enjoy ‘Still Breathing’ although I think it’s a little risky choice for Latvia. ‘Tridimyte’ is a nice alternative choice, and definitely a more safe one, but maybe too safe to stand out actually.

You skipped ANNNA in the poll…

Third place is actually Annna not Katrina. I think she was accidentally skipped here. 😉

When the poll result, the Wiwi Jury, my own opinion and probably the odds ALL agree it should be Samanta who wins, but it is up to “100% televote” in Latvia to decide. So it could be anyone, really.

Best of luck for Latvians from Lithuania but I don’t like neither Samantha nor Edgars. ‘Still breathing’ has so much potential but only until that electronic part which sounds completely out of place. ‘Tridymite’ sounds like a plain song which is perhaps good to include in an album but that’s all. It does sound as if he was like: ok, I need to get some attention, let’s compose any song, doesn’t have to be great at all. Hopefully Edgars will do better on the Voice Lithuania.

I hate “Still Breathing” but with 100% televoting…there’s no point even having the final. She’s winning it.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but if latvians didnt have Samanta as their winner in 2013 with a better song or 2014 and she only came 5th with the televote in an awful selection last year.. What makes you so confident?

Fans (for some reason) seem to like this song a lot and seem quite militant in their support for it. Sure, she didn’t do great in the final last year in terms of televoting but a) she still did a lot better than the song deserved and b) unlike this year, there were big televote-capturing acts such as Markus Riva and Laime Piln?ga.

Of course, I’d love it if I was wrong!

Okay, Latvians, the power is in your hands. No jury to blame if you stay in the semi. I’m not always the one to agree with the poll results, but now I do. Samanta Tina, this is your year! Edgars is a solid second option.

if they stay in the semifinal they can always blame their broadcaster for picking these nine equally bad songs… latvians aren’t at fault really

The jury is to blame for not choosing Madara (with a song which could have been a top 10 material) to the final. However, not picking Samanta would be on them. It’s a divisive song, but it has a fighting chance to qualify, because it’s unusual. Also, Miks and Edgars might have a chance of being borderlines, but we’ll see.

At 3th place as far as I can see is Annna with Polyester. I mean, I know you don’t like her but …. Me personally still rooting for her. Such a bop!

It has a satirical edge to it that’s clever. If we were to have an environmental bop in ESC better this than Jerry Hall’s Vegan
