With the second semi-final of Lithuania’s Pabandom iš naujo! 2020, four more acts have qualified for next week’s grand final. Monika Marija, Moniqué, Meandi and The Backs will be heading to the grand final next Saturday.

As always, while the performances were pre-recorded earlier in the week, the voting was live. And while in previous years the jury gave their scores after each performance, this year all scoring was left until the end. Both the jury and televote scores were revealed for the first time tonight.

Only eight contestants performed in this semi-final, after heat three qualifier Evgenya Redko withdrew for medical reasons. She was not replaced in the semi, meaning the chances of qualifying were slightly greater for the eight remaining semi-final two contestants.

The semi-final was won by Monika Marija. She topped the jury vote with her song “If I Leave” and placed second in the televote.

Overall, this left Monika tied with Moniqué. Her song “Make Me Human” was the televote favourite and jury second place. It was Monika Marija who won the tiebreak, but both popular acts will be heading to the grand final.

Another tie happened for third and fourth place. MEANDI’s song “Drip” placed third with the jury and fourth with the televote.

The Backs had their song “Fully” place fourth with the jury and third with the televote. Meandi won the tiebreak, but both acts will be heading to the grand final.

But with those four qualifying, sadly it meant that four others had to miss out. We said goodnight to Germanas Skoris with “Chemistry (Breaking Free)”, Rokas Povilius with “Vilnius Calling”, Petunija with “Show Ya” and Andy Vaic who was asking “Why Why Why”.

The four qualifiers from tonight’s semi-final will head to the grand final next weekend, on 15 February. There they will be joined by the four qualifiers from last week’s semi-final. The winner of Pabandom iš naujo! 2020 will go on to represent Lithuania at Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam.

Pabandom iš naujo! 2020 – Semi-final two results

  1. Monika Marija – “If I Leave” (12 points)
  2. Moniqué – “Make Me Human” (10 points)
  3. MEANDI – “DRIP” (8 points)
  4. The Backs – “Fully” (7 points)
  5. Germanas Skoris – “Chemistry (Breaking Free)” (6 points)
  6. Rokas Povilius – “Vilnius Calling” (5 points)
  7. Petunija – “Show Ya” (4 points)
  8. Andy Vaic – “Why Why Why” (3 points)

What do you think? What were your favourites in this semi-final? Did anyone miss out? Tell us your thoughts below!

Ruta loop is one of the new trend acts. There is a factor hidden in this song which pools yuo in and you won’t stop singing along until it ends.

Lithuania will make a HUGE mistake if the choose Aiste. Her song is just a canned act that seems to be a mosaic made from lyrics of past Eurovision cliche entries (“…like a diamond, in the horizon, unbreakable…” What the hell is that?!!!). Monique would be a good choice because she would gather points from both, the juries and the televote.

She’s always over the top. I can’t say I dislike it but it’s usual for her to show all her vocal abilities, even when it’s not necessary

Oh well, I’m gutted that Petunija didn’t make it through! Hoping Ruta Loop pulls it off next week, but I think I’m in the minority! Regardless, I’m sure it will be a strong representative for Lithuania this year!

Yeah, I was hoping Petunija would qualify, but she changed everything from her previous presentation: outfit, hairstyle, makeup, background graphics, dancing… she even added 3 backsingers, it looked like a girlband! I honestly don’t know if this affected the voting.

I remember when Robyn said that Laura Põldvere was having her Joanne period, well Monika Marija took it to another level. Her song sounds exactly like something you would hear on that album

I don’t know what juries are smoking, but it would be a crime to send Monika Marija or Aiste Pilvelyte with their worst songs to date, and NOT to send Monique with possibly the best Lithuanian effort ever.

The same thing they smoke each year. But it’s a waste of time and energy to comment on it because people complain every year but the same people are joining the jury year after year.

Some people were already counting Monika off, but she has the best vocals and is popular. So, it’s between her, Moniqué and The Roop. It’s even possible to have a triple tie… But I’m rooting for Moniqué this time. Unless of course they allow Ruta and Kayra to play too, but I don’t expect such a change of heart from the jury or the televote.

Why dont you count also Aist? Pilvelyt?. She won after all the first semi topping even The Roop. Judging by the results its between Aist? Pilvelyt?, Monika Marija, Moniqué and THE ROOP. I can see The Roop winning the televote in the final followed closely by Monique and Aiste. Not sure about the jury. I hope The Roop and Monique wins. Im really also into R?ta Loop, but she almost doesnt have a chance. Monika Marija is good, but her song is not that strong and i really dont want to be Aiste. Her son is generic and dated in… Read more »

I guess I’m trying to block the idea of Aisté winning a final full of interesting options with a song that’s so weak. But yeah, if she won the semi, the logic is that she can be a contender too. Even if Monika and Aisté don’t win, they can be decisive if they somehow push Moniqué or The Roop to the 4th place with televote or jury.

What is wrong with that jury? First rating Aisté over the Roop and now rating Monika Marija over Moniqué. The televoters should also decide in case of a tie and not the jury.

I actually like Ruta Loop the most, her performance was really good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgeEM7AF82E
The Roop for me is very average.
Monique needs to strengthen her voice during the climax of her song because now her voice almost disappeared. If her voice would remain strong and stable throughout all song- then we have a winner.

The fact that Monique got half the number of televotes compared to THE ROOP’s result last week makes it very clear who will win the televote in the final, so it’s all about the jury next week. It’s still a very open race and any of Aiste, Monique, Monika Marija or THE ROOP can win it.

do you even have a clue what you are saying? Do you even watch the qualifiers? Last year it was similar situation with Jurijus and Monika Marija, both got over 30k votes in the final. So the fact that Monique got 2.5k and the roop 5k means nothing LMAO

well it means that in all likehood The Roop has like 90% chance of winning televote. But the real winner will be decided by the jury anyways.

Oh yes I do, but what has that to do with the actual number of televotes? And neither Jurijus (he got 24694) or Monika Marija (she got 20977) last year, or any other act EVER in a Lithuanian final, got more than 30k votes. Come on you should know that since you are such a big fan ready to laugh at others. P.S. Just checked again and my bad, yes there’s one act that actually got more than 30K televotes in a Lithuanian final. And you know who that was right? Of course it was the so much hated LT… Read more »

I know one thing for sure that the roop will not win the jury vote. I think they will be 4th in jury behind monique, monika and aiste. Pretty confident still about Monique win. fingers crossed

No they won’t, but they’re starting with 12 points from the televoting. It seems that Aiste or Monika Marija can also win the jury vote though, so I’m expecting a very tight result. The Lithuanian final is definitely one to watch next Saturday.

It wouldn’t be the first time if the Roop got very little jury votes just that they didn’t win. I’m no longer confident about Monique’s win because she came second yesterday even though the jury clearly stated that ‘the second half of songs were weaker and only MM was good’ but they didn’t say she was brilliant. Still got so many points from the jury.

Oh no, I don’t like that at all. It’s by far Lithuania’s strongest nf in years and I’m prepared for everything. Even for Aiste to win.

I’m afraid the jury will ruin everything again. Monique for the win. Period. But hey, Lithuanians are famous for awful choices so why should I be surprised?

I guess everyone who disagree with ur opinion are ” wrong choices “. Even tho i wouldnt mind to send Monique, but The Roop is the black horse with so damn good song, that it doesnt even matter if it fits in Roterdam.

There’s a difference between wrong choice and common sense but I’m not even gonna try to argue with someone who throws the argument ‘disagreement equals to wrong choice’.
P.s. Fusedmarc says hi to you. So black horse. So much good song. So much win. Enjoy

I think the jury would be Monique’s route to victory next week as the televote will most likely be won the by The ROOP

I have a feeling they might chose Monika Marija over Monique. Or even the Roop. It depends on who’s in the jury.

Monika all the way for me, the song really strikes a nerve.
“If I kneel to pray, God, I mean it”.
Best line of the contest for me so far.

Monique was better for me tonight. I wish they would rein back the lazy robot metaphor though – I find it too cheesy.

I’m so happy for both Monique and Monika! I hope them the best at the final. I will say Monika elevated the song a bit more. Hopefully Monique can bring out her song a bit more for the final but great improvements to both!

Would normally agree. But Lithuania is a country that can always count on televote support (due to its diaspora) but tends to be penalised by the jury- sometimes unfairly- at ESC. So this kind of tie breaker seems a bit smarter in context.

Ridiculous! If juries don’t like you, you’re basically doomed. You can get 10 billion more votes than the jury 1st place and you still won’t win.
